Well I do like my Elementalist. She's all pretty and wears pretty clothes. But I do feel she's very weak at times, especially against single and spread out targets, and dies very easily.
Ultimately though, my main goal is simply to earn HoM points. If another class has an easier and faster time killing mobs, running around, farming and completing quests, then I'd much rather play it. The only reason I'm playing the game is solely for HoM points.

then in my opinion you shouldn't play it. You're doing something which i assume you don't like, spending time and such.
Back OT, it depends on your play style mostly, depends what you are planning to focus on in-game. I'd suggest playing a ritualist, since it's liked in pugs, because it's a rather overpowered class still, being able to rely on spirits to either deal a huge amount of damage or rely on defensive spirits to keep an entire party alive. Best thing is, try different professions and see how they fit.

Yeah go for a rit if you wanna do things fast and easy. Its really powerful against bosses.
You can also use multiple characters to fill you're HoM since it's account wide.
Sins are often used in elite areas where you can get lots of title points or filling HM books.

Well I do enjoy the game, but the main driving force is HoM points. I've got a Ritualist Hero in my party, planning to get a second one as soon as I aquire the next one. Would that be sufficient?
I'm using these heroes:
Quote:
Rt/R
16 Channeling Magic
13 Restoration Magic
4 Spawning Power
Signet of Spirits | Bloodsong | Ancestor’s Rage | Painful Bond | Spirit Light | Mend Body And Soul | Spirit Siphon | Protective Was Kaolai
Rt/Any (unaquired)
16 Communing
13 Spawning Power
3 Restoration Magic
Signet of Ghostly Might | Pain | Boon of Creation | Shadowsong | Disenchantment | Dissonance | Anguish | Death Pact Signet
N/Mo
16 Death Magic
10 Soul Reaping
9 Protection Prayers
3 Curses
Aura of the Lich | Death Nova | Blood of the Master | Animate Bone Minions | Protective Spirit | Aegis | Masochism | Putrid Bile
|
Also yes, I know they are account wide, but wouldn't it be more efficient to finish it on one character? Especially for title quests like Vanquisher, Explorer and Protector. I'm afraid my Elementalist won't be strong enough to finish these and would keep dying.
Furthermore a lot of HoM points require you to do quests or be in places which requires you to have reached a certain point in the storyline, and it's a bit time consuming to go through the storyline quests again on a new character.

Let's play "what's wrong with this picture?"
A. Your ele probably isn't running Assassin's Promise or ER
B. You haven't seen the necro and mesmer armors (mesmers have the most variety of armors). Ritualist armor is meh.
C. HoM is accountwide.
D. You can easily get to 30/50 with an ele. Guardian, Vanquish, Reputation titles and etc.

Yea, I don't have Assasin's Promise yet. I just completed a few faction missions and I'm at Senji's Corner now, about to make my way to Maatu Keep and then get my Assasin's Promise.
Sorry for asking again though, but well would Assasins be better for Vanquishing and Exploring? I heard that Assasins are good at PvE while Elementalists are kinda meh.

Like everyone said, its completely up to you. You can have one title character, and have other characters to do other things on. My Warrior is my primary, hes r3 max titles, but i have a rit, sin, mes, ele, and monk i use to farm with. You DONT have to stick to one class for everything. You have plenty of time till the release GW2, so dont feel like you only have a limited ammount of time. Pick a class you enjoy playing. Ele's are very capable of doing PvE. It gets better when you run AP

You hear a lot of things from a lot of people. I've been ele since beta and I'll tell you they have gotten worse since all the other classes got buffed heavily (especially Ritualist). The thing that got nerfed most was Necro MMs (only 10-11 minions now) but Ele AoEs got hit pretty hard due to Hard mode and the introduction of scattering a few years ago. There was a big powercreep when Nightfall came, with Searing Flames doing 100 damage every 2 seconds. Otherwise you can drop a Glyph of Sacrifice-d Meteor shower --> firestorm on a mob for 500+ damage with Assassin's Promise.
While vanquishing in factions and Nightfall, I noticed you do about 70% of listed damage to most casters. So 42 damage is about 30. To Rangers and warriors you do about 30% (13-15ish out of 42). It's better with air magic, but you can only hit up to 3 targets for 90-100ish at best unless you run Invoke or Lightning Orb which give you 112 to 140ish.
Keep in mind while you do this damage, ritualists get 100+ armor ignoring DPS from SoS + Bloodsong, and ~ 80 more if they run Painful bond (not even including Vampirism). Assassins will be doing their 200-300 damage crits even in HM, provided they are buffed properly. Even a bad assassin with Death blossom -> Moebius will do 40+ DPS (armor ignoring) in adjacent range.
Nowadays you basically resort to sin spam with a touch of chain lightning or Eruption/Churning earth (which cause scatter).

I got 50/50 solely with my ele, she's gwamm and everything, if you want to roll your ele, do it, they're not the BOOOM everything explodes nukers they used to be, and other profs are WAY overpowering Ele's (I've said this like 50 times now lol) and they NEED a buff, but other ppl are saying they don't, but they're bunch of tossers anyway...
But yeah, with AP and some PvE skills you can roll through pretty much everything easily.. Depends on the bar, you can spam high damage air magic spells or something..
And, if you hape AP unlocked on your account, you can get it with an elite tome, which for assassins go anywhere between 2 and 3k so that shouldn't be a problem...

Even though the HoM is account wide, you NEED to complete some of the things on one character. The Cartographer, Vanquisher, and Protector/Guardian have a title for each campaign and a bonus one for having all three done on one character. You won't get Legendary Carto/etc unless you've got all three continents mapped on the one character.
