Which skills to get
Hi All ,
I have a new Ele in Nightfall. - level 5 - still haven't chosen secondary yet.
Never played a primary Ele before.
I have 1 normal tome and 1 elite tome. I have access to all campaigns and GWEN and can get hold of any elite.
Which 2 would you recommend I unlock for my Ele to use that would be most beneficial during early Nightfall and then into GWEN

Elite skill: [wiki]Elemental Attunement[/wiki]. Foolproof, works with any element. (If you want an Elemental-Specific Elite then Blinding Surge (Air), Mind Blast (Fire), Unsteady Ground (Earth), Shatterstone (Water), But I'd stick with Elemental Attunement for now until you've explored how energy management works on that profession).
Normal skill: Kind of depends what line of magic you're going into... I guess:
Air Magic: Lightning Hammer
Fire Magic: Rodgort's Invocation
Earth Magic: Eruption
Water Magic: Vapor Blade (works well with Shatterstone if target is not enchanted)

I'd say get Unsteady Ground with the elite tome.
All the other elites worth running are fairly easy to pick up, especially in EotN dungeons and missions.

That's a really good point. Elemental Attunement in Elona is just as you get onto the mainland. Unsteady Ground requires you to play through a fair bit of Factions.

You don't really need to have an elite in early nightfall. However something like mind blast, searing flames, savahanna heat, or sandstorm are good offensive elites from that campaign.

tomes only work for unlocked skills, and you can buy unlocked skills from any trainer in their campaign
Mind Blast is a really nice elite, but alex has a point: Unsteady Ground is great and hard to get if you aren't planning to get through factions

Thanks All - could you clarify this please - you can buy unlocked skills from any trainer ?
So if I buy a skill with my W/E from the gate of torment - thus unlocking it - I can then go buy it with my Ele from a trainer at the Great Hall - Thats what that sounds like - Is that correct - because if so there isn't much use for a regular tome (other than saving some coin and cross campaign aquisition)

Guild Hall skill trainer only holds unlocked non-elite core skills (IE: it's useless). Skill trainers will only ever hold their initial stock, plus whatever you've unlocked that's appropriate for them to have (core+campaign only non-elite skills).
Nothing can teach an elite skill, you must either capture it yourself, or use an elite tome.

He was talking about GREAT HALL, not GUILD HALL. Full name's Sunspear Great Hall. And yes, he will be able to buy an unlocked skill from any skill trader in the same campaign, unless it's a Core skill, which can be bought from any skill trainer.

The Luxon/Kurzick skill Elemental Lord will be available to your ele from the Luxon Scavenger/Kurzick Bureacrat in your Guild Hall when he reaches level 20.
However, one thing though - Elemental Lord is a bad skill.
The meager buff it provides isn't worth the slot on an already packed Ele bar.
If you really must take Lord... use Glyph of Elemental Power instead.
It's the same thing, except twice as good.

Thanks Alex - I'd noted that is was underpowered but thought it might be of some use while my ele is below level 10. I don't see why its a PvE skill - compared to what the other classes get it is rather poor and as you point out there is the glyph that is better in all respects - If I can't get it till I'm level 20 I'll give it a miss.

Even if your ele is below level 10, it's still worse than [skill]Glyph of Elemental Power[/skill] if you can acquire it earlier. With a low Kurzick/Luxon Title, it only lasts a bit longer than the glyph.

Elementalist since the start of this game.
I say Unsteady Ground.
Attunement is in all campaigns I believe and can be snagged fairly easily if memory serves me at all.

i really hate mind blast in pve, especially since it becomes useless later on, since you'll go against creatures that are above lvl 20 so they have distinctly greater amounts of energy, lowering your chances of getting the energy bonus from mind blast. (Even with all energy insignias and good energy storage points you'll hit a melee thats lvl 28 and wont get the +10 energy bonus ><) UG would be the better pick.

Well Mind Blast is most useful if you use it in PvP and not PvE where enemies don't have seemingly infinite energy.
Besides when you're using Mind Blast, you're supposed to use it on say, a warrior/ranger class enemy to get that extra bonus.
