Wintersday 07 Farming builds
Ok since its almost upon us I thought it was best to start with a few builds to assist people wanting to farm for the collectors items.
Note alot of the information added here is mentioned on the basis of previous events, items and collectors may have changed. No one will know untill the event starts.
Ok I have a few widely known builds and areas.
These are all in NM, if you have a HM build please share.
A standard Minion Master in the flame temple area can get a few Charr carvings. The location is easy and the build is almost afk-able, plus with the portals all it takes is a zone and your back with a fresh area, possible to lose a day farming this area.
A Minion master in the area around Nolani acd, also can pick up Singed Gargoyle Skull.
A Riposte Warrior like the type used to farm Arrahhsh Mountainclub can easily take down Ettins in NKP for their harded Humps
55 monk@ Gates of Kryta can clean up with Decayed Orr Emblems.
And if your tooo lazy to farm, try checking out presearing.com, alot of the LDOA have stacks just hanging around. The prices might be a bit high but hey if you aint gonna farm it yourself your gotta pay the price.

considering you need to kill charr to level up? yeah, people have chars full of stacks of carvings.
Also: Farming Ornate Grawl Necklaces outside of (enter outpost here) its near like fort ranik...with any build in NM, they die in a second with a fire ele ^^.

The ornate grawl necklace farming area is between Ruins of Surmia and Frontier Gate. I like to farm it with W/D, but I haven't tried with Ele so I can't say which is faster.

Don't forget about skulls
Right outside Nolani is a bunch of gargoyle's. I usually get between 20-30 skulls and 2-4 stormy eyes per run and you can always go after the charr if you want for the carvings around 40 for the zone. A skull/eye only run typically takes 15min if your thorough with the charr/skull/eye run taking as long as you want by zoning into Flame Temple Corridor and going through and back again I usually get around 20-30 carvings per clear for just the Temple zone. Another good place for charr carvings is the fort ranick mission which averaged about 15min for me netting 25-30 carvings. If your chasing booze remember last year the skulls and eyes traded for spiked eggnog at 2 for 1. While the carvings traded 3 for 1 and the grawl necklaces traded 2 for 1 for a regular eggnog. I'm a W/x running a standard Axe AoE build using Triple/Cyclone/Whirlwind, PvE Vanguard assassin, Lion's comfort,Sprint and usually Keen chop.

normal mode, storm riders in pockmark flats (from serenity temple). can clear them all with a mind blast ele pretty quick, gets you 15-25 stormy eyes per run. the stormy eye drop rate is pretty crazy.
any high damage build from any class can do it. they're only level 7 or something, so its not like they can hurt you. casters bring a melee weapon so they don't use their spells on you.

Take a 55 HP monk and farm Undeads in HM. You will get up to 5 Decayed Orr emblems / run, and nice golds.

Nolani's Academy even on NM seems to drop nicely for me plus its a quick run and respawn.
Using R/E Sandstorm, Tenais Crystals, Storm Chaser, Stone Striker, Stoneflesh, Sliver Armor, armor of earth, trolls. Shockwave as an alternative Elite.
Looking at the amount of VwK farm builds out there though, that might be a quicker solution, only prob is that IMO multiple kills at the same time = lower loot drop.

I'm using a R/Rt VwK... farms gargoyles, undead, grawl, ice imps, and charr faster than anything I've seen so far and it's brainless enough to only take 1 hand at the keyboard, so I get to drink my coffee.

are you clearing the whole area of storm riders? seriously, i've never come back with less than 15. my best run yielded 28.
here's a map of the full run:
area 1: sometimes the storm riders don't spawn there. rezone and try again.
area 2: you can stop after this area if you don't want to do the full run.
the storm riders are spread far apart past area 2. i just do the full run because farming the same small piece of land over and over is boring as hell to me. there's 20-25 more storm riders total in the lower area.
attaching a screenie of my last run.

I'd liek to know of get a map of where all you farm the gargoyle skulls. I go inside the temple, tehn down the steps and outside across the bridge twice and before bridge go to right and kill a few down that path. I aim for 10 ea run, so if I can get 10 from temple(Which max I've ever gotten was 11, 1 run ever that got that) I jstu leave since 10 makes me feel good to rezone I'll get you a map in a bit since I need to finish my 5th stack today.

Is farming sentient root outside Kamadan efficient compared to stormy eyes?

I would like to add my 2c here.
I am doing full runs starting from Fort Ranik and going up all the way to your 'area #1'. On average 3 out of 4 Storm Riders drop their eyes which is pretty good drop rate I think. Also I have to add that clearing of 2 huge groups of Hulking Stones (next to entrance to Temple) yields some nice drops (I got a black dye and few charcoal). All in NM. I am running as Necro/Mo (I do not have Monk ready yet, she is lvl 6 atm :-)) with SoJ, Light of Deldrimor (to mop up) and Mending and 2 speed buffs (Drunken Master + Asura one, I forgot...) that is it on the bar.
Enjoy.

There are charr and storm riders outside Nolani, and several possible routes to use to get all of them along with all the gargoyles, but each run will take a lot longer than just hunting the gargoyles right outside.
Whether it's worth it to do the longer runs is up to you - I did it the last couple years, mostly because I found the shorter runs too boring and repetitive. Killing all the gargs, charr, and riders, I'd typically pick up 15-30 skulls and charvings, 2-5 eyes, plus dyes, Ascalon keys & other stackables, plus enough blues/purples/whites to fill inventory. I remember last year I made over 20k in a day just from the garbage drops. YMMV.
I did that farm for the past 2 Wintersdays, I've used W/Mo (sword, and axe), Fire ele, barrage ranger, and MM. I don't recommend MM if you do the longer run, because maintaining minions really slows you down while traveling between groups. Otherwise, all the classes work well enough in NM that it really doesn't matter what you take.
