Default My AB Build

Been a while since I played a Ranger (2 years). I've been toying with the Paragon (which every Paragon player claims is god). I admit it was a nice class, but still nowhere near as awesome as the Ranger. So I went R/P for AB combining the Paragon's party-wide shouts with the Ranger's Barrage for damage and survivability skills.

R/P Barrage Build for AB

Expertise 11+2
Marksmanship 10+1+2
Command 10

[skill]barrage[/skill][skill]lightning reflexes[/skill][skill]anthem of envy[/skill][skill]anthem of weariness[/skill][skill]"never surrender!"[/skill][skill]"fall back!"[/skill][skill]dodge[/skill][skill]throw dirt[/skill]
OgkjctZqpOLmizFO87j3xpGUDA

I tried this out for AB a couple of games and the shouts really helped out with damage and minor healing, while at the same time Barrage helps to spam out damage against bunched up enemies and helped against MM's.

When the match starts, use "Fall Back!" for a quick speed boost. I use "Fall Back!" anytime we are running long distances to other capture points. It also came in handy a couple of times for running from enemies who had overpowered us. The health gain isn't reliable to save you, but the increased run speed plus the regen combined with "Never Surrender!" can save yourself and a couple of team mates while you speed away to get back up.

I use Anthem of Envy & Anthem of Weariness for general purpose low cost buffs for my team to hopefully give the upper hand. If things don't go so smooth, I use "Never Surrender!" to help with healing. If things go really sour, I call retreat and use "Fall Back!" to run while also healing and stacking with "Never Surrender!" (as previously mentioned).

Lightning Reflexes helps for quicker attacking to get more adrenaline for Anthem of Envy in case things start to get a little more intense. The 75% dodge rate also helps against enemy Rangers trying to take me down, which tends to happen quick once they notice me using a lot of chants/shouts while also spamming Barrage.

Throw Dirt for those Assassins, Dervs, Warriors, and sometimes Rangers if they pose a real problem.

If all else fails and you absolutely have to abandon, Dodge is a safe backup in case "Fall Back!" is still recharging. Dodge is cheap, it doesn't provide healing, but it's effective in the fact of blocking projectiles, which I often notice that Rangers are the usual opponents who will chase me all around the map.

Please let me know what you think and how I can maybe tweak this build to perform even better.

I'm not deadset on the elite, but Barrage does work for a general purpose skill that doesn't require anything but itself to shine. I also don't want to get rid of Anthem of Envy, "Never Surrender!" or "Fall Back!" since the energy costs are low for great effects.

I really don't have an issue with conditions unless multiple assassins gang me.

I'm sure you're right, but they usually don't focus on me first. I just ran this build through 10 games just like I posted it and I've only died 6 times. I'm not too worried about conditions. I have enough increased running and evading skills to run from being flanked or outnumbered.

Maybe it doesn't require anything else to function but it doesn't shine with or without anything at all so... meh

Give the guy a break, thats better then half the builds people run in AB
Seriously I would recommend Burning Arrow as your elite, at least 1 interrupt and preferably 2, and a way to remove conditions.

I'll try out Burning Arrow & plugging in 1 interrupt. If I try for Burning Arrow, 2 interrupts, and a condition removal then I pretty much lose half of my original build which I wouldn't even know where to start.

I'm going to get rid of Lightning Reflexes in substitute for interupt, Barrage->Burning Arrows, and I suppose remove Dodge for remove conditions skill.

Barrage w/ a Longbow is perfect for taking out unguarded shrines. The NPCs just stand there and die. Lightning Reflexes has always helped me with melee rushes, and god knows how many times I've escaped with dodge.

I'm trying to make a build that supports in damage/regen/running speed but I'm going to try these suggestions out. I'm not too sure which interupt I'll use nor which condition removal skill. Any suggestions?

Well to be fair, both Dodge and Fall Back aren't really needed. 2 speed buffs is too many on a normal build. I would drop Dodge ^_^

As for Condition Removal, try [skill=text]Remedy Signet[/skill].

Okay new build test
[skill]Magebane Shot[/skill][skill]Disrupting Accuracy[/skill][skill]"Go For The Eyes!"[/skill]Anthem of Weariness[skill]"Never Surrender!"[/skill][skill]"Fall Back!"[/skill][skill]Throw Dirt[/skill][skill]Antidote Signet[/skill]

I went with Antidote Signet since it clears up to 3 different conditions if the situation were to ever occur (doubt it though) and Poison & Blind being my main concern other than Cripple.

Disrupting Accuracy + "Go For The Eyes!" seems to look promising but I can't rely on it so I'm going to try it out and see how often it works. I'd love to have Way of the Master+Disrupting Accuracy.

Build ran pretty well, Disrupting Arrows isn't half bad. Sometimes it's like getting a Xmas present. "Oh really? Disrupting Shot for free? Neat."

Antidote Signet really didn't help much. I'm going to try Remedy Signet since I didn't run into blind or disease at all. I did remove Poison once, but that wasn't enough to keep Antidote Signet.

so like your bar is like wtf is goin on to me... its like are you for 1v1 LAWLS which its still not very good at... is it for interrupting? could be and its still pretty bad for taking out shrines. all in all maybe rethink the build or run the "standard" pvp ranger and get called by noobs "OMFG WIKI BUILD" but yea their just baed imo

so yea your build in my eyes is like ok... nop

disrupting accruacy as a prep is pretty bad too

Disrupting Accuracy is great if you're an A/R, and your elite is Quick Shot or something.

As a R/P, not so much.

Crippling Anthem + Volley seems promising, haven't tried it yet. Consider bringing a snare in AB. It slows down shrine capping, and that increases the capping time frame between you and your opponents.

It also may be an idea to run [skill]keen arrow[/skill] with gfte n your bar. Can hit some insane damage for a bow ^_^
