The only thing that would make Healing Hands worth using on any class (Monk included) is if it negated damage before it healed. You take 30 damage, and get healed for 20, you still lost 10 health. Worse, in addition to the 10 health, you lost an elite slot. As mentioned, many other skills (which are not elites) offer damage reduction. Take one of those, and the healing you need is reduced. Now, the elite is open for something to provide damage or apply conditions or remove enchantments, etc. Use the elite for something helpful to your team.
