Default PvP Resurrects

Alright I was in RA today and someone started complaining about me having a resurrect in my skill bar, saying monks should never bring a rez in PvP. I can understand his complaint if this was any other PvP arena where teams are more organized, but this was Random Arenas where you don't know what your team is going to be like.

To my knowledge Res Signets are almost a given in RA but are monks an exception?

Yes. A monk should never have a res on their bar. If it comes down to the monk having to stop and res someone, you're done anyway.

It's RA, bring whatever you want. Everything in there is RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed all to hell anyway.

Seriously? The res sig is fine, especially if the match winds down to just a few people. Having an extra sig is nice, and you can take out, say, Aegis, without much of an effectiveness penalty.

But yeah, in the end it's still RA.

it can be a bit of an annoyance to see an assassin rush in and die, then have the monk stand there for 3 seconds ressing and by the time it ends, the monk is at 1/10 health because the enemy team thought "hey look the monk is wide open...FIRE!"

I know it doesn't happen too often, and it is also equally frustrating when noone else on the team manages to pack a res sig into their bar. But imo, the monk should be more focussed on keeping the team from needing to use their res sigs (if you know what i mean)

In any form of Pvp a monk shouldn't have a res. If you're just taking anything to mess around as it's RA, then I guess you can but it's a bit pointless.

The reason you don't want a ress is that the time you're standing ressing is time you should be protting/doing something to prevent more deaths.

I've been out of the loop lately, but I noticed today while doing missions with my heroes that Healer's Boon affects cast time of rez spells too (so long as they're in Healing Prayers). A hard rez wouldn't be a terribly bad idea if you're running a HB monk. As we know, RA is like last year's box of chocolates. You don't know what you're going to get, but you do know it will leave a bad taste in your mouth. I suck at monk, but play Resto Rit quite well in 4v4 (can't explain why), but I still bring Death Pact or FomF when I play healer. For some reason I feel naked when I leave my rez behind.

The biggest argument for taking res is that there's a strictly limited number of them in most RA maps (i.e., no auto-res at shrine). As a result, every additional player that has a sig is one more chance you get for winning.

Clearly, it's not going to make a difference if you're getting rolled, but in a game where, say, the other team is down to one or two people and you're down to one or two people, having that extra res can help.

I agree in principle that a monk needn't have a res in most PvP, but in RAs I think I lean toward Burst's point. I've seen 1v4 matches turn into complete turnarounds just because someone ressed intelligently.

Generally if the monk is so overloaded to the point that people are dying, he doesn't have 3+ seconds to rez people.

The analysis is too simplistic; pressure isn't constant, shit happens, etc. This is RA. Again, if the team is reduced to just a few people on both sides, you're going to wish you had a res. I haven't touched RA in almost a year, but that kind of situation happened pretty damn often.

But whatever, this is too much arguing over RA. Monks never bring res in PvP, etc. etc. yada yada.

Who cares. RA is full of bad players anyways and you can't expect anything out of it.

monking in RA is easy, you usually have some spare spots where you can use whatever you want; may it be utility, self defense in form of a stance...or a rez!

just, usually, due to the low quality of RA, monks get stomped, meaning if someone dies..it's you (if you are bad), so rez won't help much.

also if you happen to rez, people will most likely die.
