ok, i was using the spirit spammer build (using my ritualist) and I come to the conclusion that Cold as Ice quest is IMPOSSIBLE! Why?:

1)Dissonance and Shadowsong did not last long enough to kill the boss.
2)When he successfully summon his spirits (particularly after the dissonance is over), the spirits may attack his SPIRITS instead of the boss.
3) I keep getting interrupted.
4) he is impossible to pull and corner.

Therefore, this quest is impossible to complete. So if you are going try this quest, don't, it's impossible.

Not impossible.

One easy way is to have Necromancer as your second profession and use the bodies that are lying around. Worked well for me. Good luck.

what if your a warrior i dont think necro as your secondary would work.

Why not go rit/me? Use the me for echo and an anti-interrupt. Then use gaze of fury and anything else that can quickly destroy a spirit (signet of creation or maybe consume soul). You can also use unnatural signet or something like that from the /me part.

I beat it on both my monk and ranger on first try. You just need to try harder, and not run bad builds.

Consume Soul + 7 other skills to stay alive and deal damage worked for me.

just because you cant beat it dosnt make it impossible. I had problems the first time I tried it to, but its far from impossible. just think outside the box, WAY outside the box.

I killed him on my regular ranger build, conditions + interrupts. Piece of cake.

actually a trapping ranger would have an easier time but i didn't think of it at the time
an echo trapper would kill him like a speed trap duo killing two aatxe's

get a jagged bomber build and make sure the minions surround him so he doesn't make spirits
it's built in his memory or something to scatter the spirits around
so he could get one spirit set up but with the minions surrounding him and blocking his path he won't be able to scatter spirits around so he won't make spirits at all

I beat it with my paragon with pretty much just 4 skills.. secondary Necro, but apparently not how other people were using it? I probably could have made it easier but I didn't think it was actually going to work the first time! xD Anyway, I just used Barbs because it's a long lasting hex, and Toxic Chill. 12 in curses and 12 in death. My other skills were Great Dwarf Armor and Never Surrender, but NS was dumb because I forgot to put points in Command :|. So lol only a long hex (I only used barbs cos I only had a few hexes and it was the longest lol) and Toxic Chill are vital. Just run in, hex him, toxic chill him, then run away and heal. Then repeat repeat etc and eventually he'll die
