It's offical: I suck at boxing
I'm trying to farm up exp for my survivor ranger on Kilroy's, I blaze through normal but when it comes to hard mode I get beat down hard once i get to the room before the boss.
I confess, it's me, I suck at using the skills. I'm using the reward knuckledusters, I don't have /A, I've customized them (for what it's worth) but don't have an inscription on 'em. I'm hitting block and generally hammering in anything thats charged once the two seconds are up then block again.
Anyone have some slightly more... advanced/sane/sensible tactics?

Don't rush after Kilroy, let him die if you're facing a huge mob (one where you will die 6-7 times in a row if you jump in)
Whenever you face a big mob lure one-two with your bow. You can easily take 2 guys at a time. Probably 3 as well.
If you're having some trouble and kilroy is already dead it may be a good idea to walk away so the mobs get seperated from dead kilroy and he'll be alive then. Now it is again 2 vs mob.
edit:
oh and wait a second and let kilroy choose the target. That way you'll get the health gain faster

The reward Thunderfist Knuckles aren't really needed, honestly. I've run /A with 12 in Dagger, customized, and with a 15% -5 energy. The difference is negligible, in the ~6-8 extra range.
I just rush into the middle if you are talking about the room where all the dwarves stand in a circle. They only attack 3 at a time, and I keep one of them knocked down with Brawling Headbutt as much as possible while I block the other two.
This is on my warrior, but I have done the same with Necro and Dervish.
edit: Pyro's point is key. Watch Killroy, and attack his target to quickly spike them down.

Thanks for the advice (and prompt it was too) will try it out on my Necro later before I try running the Ranger through.
Edit: No joy, doing better thanks to the alternate headbut but Kilroy dies straight away and I'm still having trouble. Can't see what I'm doing wrong but it must be something since most people have no trouble getting though it.

I put a furious mod on my brass knuckles, a shelter mod, and don't customize it so all my toons can use it.
I'm pretty sure I've seen the furious mod instantly rechage some of the higher skills immediately after using them, so I think that really helps

Got it, thanks. I slip through the gap in the guards of the last room as shown in the video. May not be the best xp/min run but it's safe and, most importantly, nubcakes here can manage it.

Quick Question
the 15% -5 mod, I assume this will effect the added energy once you've been KOed? So you start with less energy and after 1 KO you wont need to 88888888888 as much as without the -5 because there is less energy?

That was my reasoning for adding that -5 energy mod as well. That doesn't work, however. It doesn't affect your energy at all. On the positive side, it still gives the 15% bonus unconditionally for boxing.

I swear, I would be the dude they call up to fight those heavyweight boxers that need a tune-up just so they can destroy someone in 37 seconds. I die a lot, normally. I'll certainly try skipping that last room, that slows me down a TON.
In fact, I'm SO good at getting K.O.'d, I've bound my 8, 9, and 0 keys to Action 8. You can bind multiple keys to one function, and it makes it go up much quicker. I've gotten my energy up to 85 before getting too nervous. If you find yourself struggling to stand back up, it might help out to bind a few more keys to Action 8.
It'll be worth it once I get that Survivor title though. Thanks for the tip on skipping that penultimate room.

Ive gotten pretty good at it with an average time of 11 minutes a run. (LS in 12 hours)
The Trick is for that room Let Kilroy run in first Then you follow behind him, Two things can happen now. All three start attacking you, This is good. If this happens then Kill one quickly and Kilroy will attack your target. This is good because you can kill them fast enough that the +300 health keeps you alive and you can take ALL of them on without dying.
The second thing that can happen is that the 3 warriors will attack Kilroy. This is where it gets tricky. Kilroy will most definitely die so after you kill a few and let him die then start running out of that room back into the previous room. Once you get the 3 warriors away from his dead body he will res and he will go stand next to Captain Magmha. After he resses your probably about to die so just suicide. They will run back to there original position. Respawn and aggro them and lead them to Kilroy. As soon as Kilroy starts moving you start killing. Then you just follow the kill them all using the above strategy.

In the second last room:
Run past the boss, let Killroy die.
Lure the mob of 3 with your Bow.
Box them through the boss' team - they can attack back, but don't worry!
Kill two, and leave one standing...
Kill him, then QUICKLY lure the other two that are waiting in the middle.
This way, you only fight two at a time, and if you die, they can't get in a dual spike before you can get your block skill up!
You can also choose to leave a few standing and not have to deal with the final mob of 5!
Normally I skip the whole room, kill the Boss, and track back to get whatever extra exp I can outta my scroll. The "waiting to start next mission" timer doesn't start until you open the chest.

ive reached LS doing that on my derv, if your willing to spend some money buy some armours of salvation and use them it really helped me.
try to sync with kilroy att what he attacks and try to take damage yourself instead of letting him die, because if he does you will have a hard time doing it yourself, kill rangers first because they daze you, keep the skill that does 50+50 damage and 80 damage to use on one person because it will kill them and you will get alot of health back when you need it. hope that helped

The boxing is easy, but thanks to some bug I took 600 dmg and died when I was KO'd with full energy and there were still 5 seconds left in the timer. Sucks, doesn't it? Must've been lag or something.
Yeah but my tactic was to keep Kilroy alive. He only rez's if there are no enemies in the radar, so if he died and i wasn't able to kill the enemies alone i just lured them out of Kilroy's aggro bubble.

it also helps to macro more than one key to skill 8 that way you can mash those buttons and get up even when you need to recover a large amount of energy

I'm curious about something regarding boxing and different professions.. does
the AR matter in terms of soaking up damage?
I seem to take more damage with my necro doing this run than with
my warrior.

Yeah your armour does make a difference, so a warrior will take less damage than a necro.
As for tactics, always attack the same target Kilroy does, that way they die faster and you get health faster, and Kilroy stays alive and soaks up some of the damage.

I was having the same problem when I reached that room but is what has worked for me...
I make sure to be the first one into that room so I end up tanking all the damage since Kilroy drops pretty fast if all are attacking him. As long as you are tanking the damage, all the guys will attack you, leaving Kilroy to continue help fighting. After that, all I do is C-Space so I'm attacking the target Kilroy is on, leading to quick kills, which allows me to continue tanking all the damage. Once Maghma comes along, I drop all the other guys first because Maghma is pretty easy to take on 1v1.
Oh yeah, if they do manage to attack and kill Kilroy, lure them back out of the range of Kilroy's corpse so he gets rezzed. Once Kilroy is back up, run back over to him and you should be getting hit while he's free of attacks
