Default UW Trapper

I am looking for that old-school trapper build, the one people used before EW was nerfed. I've been searching the forums, but I can't seem to find it.

I'm going to try if it is possible to use this build again, maybe even with three people carying EW.

Oh its been years since I done that lol

I assume you mean the old Spike Trap one? I think there may have been one involving Echo floating around, Speed Trapper or something.

[skill]Spike Trap[/skill][skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Flame Trap[/skill][skill]Serpent's Quickness[/skill]

And then add one or the other...

[skill]Energizing Wind[/skill] or [skill]Quickening Zephyr[/skill]

and one of these ^_^

[skill]Winnowing[/skill] or [skill]Brambles[/skill] or [skill]Edge of Extinction[/skill]

Think thats it however its been a while.

Jus been doing a bit of digging and managed to find that Speed Trapper build I mentioned above...

[skill]Echo[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Serpent's Quickness[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Energizing Wind[/skill][skill]Quickening Zephyr[/skill]

Think the aim is to spam as many Dust Traps as possible. There is a Duo version, works quite well in the DoA Stygian

Post EW nerf though the speed trapper even needs to go duo. Personally If duoing, I won't even bring spirits anymore. I like this for my trapping:

[skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Flame Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Tripwire[/skill][skill]Serpent's Quickness[/skill][wiki]Dwarven Stability[/wiki][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill] on puller and [skill]Echo[/skill] on the other then either res or both carrying echo and whirling. The puller could also swap in Spike trap for tripwire.

We manage to do duo Stygian HM trapping with EW and QZ. Takes a decent amount of communication though and organistion. Wouldn't recommend it for a PUG

And also... chuck Ether Signet in for an extra boost of energy.

I was trying out a couple of solo trapper builds yesterday, considering the nerf to [wiki]energizing wind[/wiki].

Wilderness survival: 12 + 3 + 1
Expertise: 12+3
Inspiration magic: 3
[skill]Ether Signet[/skill][skill]Quickening Zephyr[/skill][skill]Serpent's Quickness[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Echo[/skill][skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill]
Cast order: QZ, Arcane Echo + SQ (while casting), Echo, Dust trap, Echoed echo, Echoed dust trap, barbed trap, then continue with traps as possible, keeping up SQ and using Ether Signet whenever possible. When QZ recharges, drop a few more traps, use the signet, then cast favorable winds. Lure targets past the spirit using whirling defense.

[skill]Ether Signet[/skill][skill]Quickening Zephyr[/skill][skill]Serpent's Quickness[/skill][skill]Echo[/skill][skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Flame Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill]
Cast order: QZ, Echo + SQ (while casting), Dust trap, echoed dust trap, flame trap, barbed trap, then continue with traps as possible, keeping up SQ and using ether sig as possible. When QZ recharges, drop a few more traps, use the signet, then cast favorable winds. Lure targets past the spirit using whirling defense.

Either of these worked farming HM trolls, but I wasn't very successful in UW. I could kill the Ataaxes with either, but I had to be very lucky, as well as staying put and active trapping them while they were attacking my spirit, which isn't smart when you're using two superior runes.

I wish Ranger was one of the best for farming, but I just don't know. I think I will try one of these builds out but essentially I would prefer to create an Assassin for farming.

I haven't tried this in UW at all and don't plan to, but I had a trapping build that didn't even use EW.
The obvious counter to the energy cost of the skills is more expertise right?

Expertise 11+1+1
Wilderness 12+?
Beast Mastery 6+2
[skill]Escape[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill][skill]Viper's Nest[/skill][skill]Dust Trap[/skill][skill]Flame Trap[/skill][skill]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill]Toxicity[/skill]Optional

5 + 2 + 3 = 10 degen = 20 damage per second.
Both dusttrap and flame trap apply a condition each second acting as a cover condition, as well as providing needed damage you'll probably need to place dust twice to get enough damage to wipe things.
Don't stand still and trap; place traps and spirit then train the mobs over them with the running skills, [skill=text]Barbed Trap[/skill] should make sure they never catch you and that they stay in the traps.
