Witte's Wintersday Thread 2007
Hello guys!
Since I entered the world of GW again I started to realize how I used to like the Wintersday event! I loved to farm the (....) out of some place and collect things like Charr Emblems and Decayed Orr Emblems. Now I decided to make a list of each collectable drop and the places which are in my opinion the best place to obtain them. Ofcourse I used my warrior.
*NOTE: SOME PLACES MAY OFCOURSE ALREADY BEEN IN USE, THESE ARE JUST PLACES I THINK ARE THE BEST, SUGGESTION/COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME*
List of collectable drops:
Drops done:
Ornate Grawl Necklaces
Charr Carvings
Stormy Eyes
Ornate Grawl Necklaces:
Location:
Eastern Frontier
Template:
OQATEXJXNqrgvQpA8ZH8qItIAAA
Skills:
[skill]Sprint[/skill] [skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill] [skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill] [skill]Triple Chop[/skill] Whirlwind Attack [skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill] [skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill] [skill]Healing Signet[/skill]
Attributes:
Gear:
Make sure you've a customized 15^50 axe. If possible a zealous.
Route:
Take the left way trough the gate when you entered the Eastern Frontier. Now kill the Grawls on your way and go into the Amphitheater Kill all the Grawls.
Average time per run including picking up drops and rezone : 2 Minutes.
Average drop of Ornate Grawl Necklaces : 3-5
This means you can get about 90-150 Ornate Grawl Necklaces/Hour
Charr Carvings
Location:
Nolani Academy
Template:
OQATEXJXNqrgvQpA8ZH8qItIAAA
Skills:
[skill]Sprint[/skill] [skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill] [skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill] [skill]Triple Chop[/skill] Whirlwind Attack [skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill] [skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill] [skill]Healing Signet[/skill]
Attributes:
Gear:
Make sure you've a customized 15^50 axe. If possible a zealous.
Route:
Pull the lever in front of you and run to the gate below. Now use Dolyak Signet and wait for the Charr's to come. Hit your axe's attacks and they should die within seconds.
When the warriors are dead, move to the archers and kill them.
Average time per run including picking up drops and rezone : 2 Minutes.
Average drop of Charr Carvings : 3-4
This means you can get about 90-120 Charr Carvings/Hour
Stormy Eyes
Location:
Pockmark Flats
Skills:
[skill]Sprint[/skill] [skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill] [skill]Cyclone Axe[/skill] [skill]Triple Chop[/skill] Whirlwind Attack [skill]Counterattack[/skill] [skill]Dolyak Signet[/skill] [skill]Healing Signet[/skill]
Attributes:
Gear:
Make sure you've a customized 15^50 axe. If possible a zealous.
Route:
At the end of the run you can just rezone and do it all over again, just from another starting position.
Average time per run including picking up drops and rezone : 15 Minutes.
Average drop of Stormy Eyes : 17-20
This means you can get about 68-80 Stormy Eyes/Hour

should check out the area for singed gargoyle skulls outside of Nolani. 2 skulls for 1 spike eggnog. Pretty quick run. I use a Necro/Monk
Not sure on actual route or skills....but I think its something
Death Magic 15 (12 +2 +1) Soul Reaping 10 (9+1) Healing Prayers 8
[skill]Animate Flesh Golem[/skill]
[skill]Animate Bone Minions[/skill] (where it creates 2)
[skill]Blood of the Master[/skill]
[skill]Mending[/skill] FTW
[skill]Healing Breeze[/skill]
[skill]Deathly Swarm[/skill] (to take out the initial group for minions)
EXTRA
EXTRA
Go out into Diessa Lowlands kill Gargoyles on top of monument and surrounding area...do not have any exact info on drops...but its fairly good. Cast mending...should only need HB if you get over hexed...which shouldn't happen...or if u decide to take on the charr in the temple as well. To take out the first group of Gargoyles be sure to kill the resurrect gargoyle or he will rez faster than you can raise a minion
stack of decayed orr emblems and char carvings 15k or so
stack of skulls or stormy eyes 40k

Actually I believe it is faster to farm for Singed Gargoyle Skulls with a standard 55 monk build. Kill the gargoyles below the stairs, try to get as many as possible. Run up the stairs, all the way and collect all of them in one big ball (easily 20-30 of them). Collect your stuff and resign. A run takes less than 3 minutes and usually you should get 3-6 skulls a run. 60-120 skulls an hour (30-60 spiked).

good point...i would imagine a 55 does kill quicker...but i tend to see more drops by slow killing rather that AOE type killing....probably averages out though...i would image that just about any profession can do this run i just posted what i used a few times...i am not much of a farmer...too repetitive

Nice. I was getting bored with those juvenile termites and flowers.. I'll
most likely try one of those spots out.
Thanks, and welcome back.

Same run as a N/E video
I find this faster because you can run around and pick up the loot at the same time that you kill.

I've been running a set run since the start of wintersday:
Nolani
Diessa Lowlands
Flame Temple Corridor
Been solo'ing these with W/Ele with Ursan Blessing. Talk about a hairball!!
Getting about 10-12 Carvings each, but a run takes just under an hour, but the CC shards make up the difference. And the occasional upper lvl dye.

Witte, as usual, Hats off!!
You might want to add the Gargoyle Skull run... since those trade 2 per Spiked Nog. Any of those builds would work, but I use my ele, it seems the fastest.
Although this is the skill bar I use...
[card]Aura of Restoration[/card][card]Fire Attunement[/card][card]Searing Flames[/card][card]Glowing Gaze[/card][card]Liquid Flame[/card][card]Fireball[/card][card]Flame Burst[/card][card]Flame Djinn's Haste[/card]
OgBCoMzDtAXQ3GrNNdBvosC
Searing Flames, Glowing Gaze can be replaced.
I don't need half of those. I mostly kill with Liquid Flame and Fireball. Flame Djinn Haste is to make the run faster. The heal from Aura of Restoration is more than enough, but of course it can be swapped. The full run takes about 15-17m and it yields 15-26 skulls.
Happy Hunting and Happy Wintersday!

Thanks for posting this template. I primarily use a sword with my warrior so this helps.
Eventually I'll get a better axe (maybe a Droknar's Axe) and try out Witte's build.

As a Warrior, I prefer to use
Triple Chop
Cyclone Axe
Whirlwind Attack
Feel No Pain (Nice self heal if you've got a high norn rank like me, use heal sig if you want)
Enraging Charge/Sprint
"I am the Strongest" (Once again, nice if your norn rank is high, otherwise replace)
Balthazars Spirit
+SPARE
This way you don't need any specific equipment (no zealous :P), and even if you get low on energy you can just tank for a few seconds. No armor boosts required either.
