i have to disagree a bit
people will always want fow but as said more people are going to leave which you would think makes it drop more but also people leaving will be farmers so why wouldn't they stay relatively static

Yeah the ecto price is low, but when, like I did a couple of weeks ago, you get 4 in one solo smite run it doesnt matter so much ^^.
I usually get 1 a run, which is fine for me.

Last I checked, about 9:30pm EST last night ecto were up to 6k
Thats about 500g above the NASDAQ average over the past several months. thats and extra 125k on a stack of ecto.
But if you have a stack of ecto why would you care about 125k.

UW smite run is out of my interest now because for whatever reason, I don't get any ecto after 5 to 8 runs!

Obiviously no-one knows how an economy works.
Lockpicks & normal loot nerfs dropped ecto prices, which is basically the current value of money.
Lockpicks re-placed keys, and alot more people buy them, get junk golds and re-sell to and may get around 15% of the gold back they paid for the lockpick. That means if you buy a lockpick for 1.5k, sell the gold/purple for 150-300 gold, the 1.2k disappears, thus reducing the prices of everything, as gold is in short supply. Ecto is not, but ecto is worth gold, and if there isn't much gold, ecto's prices drop. This never occured pre-loot nerf as you could sell your whites and gain cash loot alot, but you cannot now, so there is alot less gold, which in turn reduces the prices of ecto.
Ecto's prices won't go up, as there price is determined by the levels of gold. No gold, no inflation, no rise in price. Ecto's supply rate is huge, even if a new ecto-required item or armor set was released, the supply of ecto would easily out-weigh the demand of ecto. Therefore the prices will actually drop.
In short, ecto prices will never rise unless the gold sinks are removed, and more gold is channeled into the economy.

To drop prices, and to discourage farming. Anet's way of saying "we don't give a [email protected] about Pve and WE control the economy". All Mmorpg hosts do it.

I don't think you are right Spartan
Ecto is holding steady at 6k tha paste couple days, thats UP
There is an increase in demand for ecto brought on by the Hall of Monuments as well as the "100k+ecto" sales technique for rares
People want to put that High end FoW armor in there. People who used to farm and merch/sell/trade ecto havee begun to hord to purchase armor. ectos are NOT getting back into the hands of the Rare material trader due to hording/crafted into armor.
The prices at the Trader go up when there is a purchasing spike (reasons noted above) or the Traders supply gets low, which is due to some of the hardcore/avid ecto farmers moving on to GWEN areas since its release farming for other items and contributing to the lack of ecto back into the Trader, who stock is just now beging to hit low numbers warenting a price increase.
Thats my take on the ecto situation in the market, for the latest Hog report we now take you live to Les Nessman at WKRP in Cincinati.

Rare drops such as ectos are not affected by loot scaling. See [wiki]Loot[/wiki] for a list of exempt drops.

Dropping prices actually helps the community overall - if prices were allowed to inflate unchecked, then only the most hardcore players would be able to afford anything. This happens in real life, as well...the federal reserve will adjust interest rates to help curb inflation. ANet is simply being a benevolent leader.
Also they removed some of the anti-farming AI from the enemies (especially in normal mode), making farming easier for the casual player. See http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gaile...Feb-April_2007 for more info.

Its impossible to predict the future of the pricing of Ectos. They may go up in the future, but chances are will lower as the game loses people because of lack of updates and interest.
And this isn't farming. Consider the question answered.
