Red face Cultist's Fervor Build without killing myself?

Hey guys!

i've been trying to put together a Cultist's Fervor build ever since EotN came out (masochism, Glyph of Swiftness, etc.) i got the base set up here:

Glyph of Swiftness [skill]Cultist's Fervor[/skill] Masochism

but, when i try to fill up the rest of the bar with lifesteal, it's never enough, and i always kill myself via sacrifice. Also, what does everyone think is the best max health for builds that sac a lot, like this one?

ty.

P.S. when are we going to be able to [skill ] [/skill] GWEN skills? >.<

I tried it on a 55 bar for the norn toury, but there wasn't enough room left for effective offense.

Spamming [skill]Blood of the Aggressor[/skill] is probably going to be your best bet, as it's both a sac and a life steal. [skill]Blood Renewal[/skill] would probably also help.

As for max life, lower is better. The less max you have, the less your sacs cost. I'd probably go with at least 2 sup runes for this sort of build.

The only reason to ever have a high max life on a sac build is to set up for a huge Grenth's Balance.

BotA won't work, and neither will Blood renewal. combined with Cultist's Fervor, the sac will be massive on Blood Renewal, and BotA has only conditional lifesteal, so it won't make up for the sac half the time. and, of course, i'm running two sups and radiant insigs. if i wasn't, i'd be dying even more than i'm dying now. i was just wondering if anyone knew exact figures.

I was thinking to bring some straight up lifesteal, like Enfeebling Blood + Oppressive Gaze for groups, Vamp Gaze, Angie's Gaze, Jaundiced Gaze, maybe Blood drinker, and maybe a touch skill to use all that extra energy.

Uuuhh... this is probably a really stupid idea but...
Couldn't you, like... let monks heal you, maybe? Dunkoro and Mhenlo are more than happy to oblige...
That way, you don't have to fill your bar up with sub-par skills to try and cover the sac (though, with Blood Magic... you're kinda stuck with taking 'sub-par skills' )

uh.... this is probably a really stupid response, but... PvE? nope. this is for unorganized PvP, in which you can never guarantee a good monk. (RA)

Well, maybe... you should've said so... somewhere in the original post? This IS the Campfire after all...

Anyho, yeah... that is kinda a silly response... I honestly can't see any compelling reason to run Blood Magic in RA/AB. Alas, Blood Magic doesn't really do much, and Cultist's Fervor means you spend less energy and kill yourself faster doing... not much.

I have yet not managed to come up with a build that is as effective as SV in RA for my necro.

Oh, shit... I wan't being clear again
Yeah, I meant as far as Cultist's is concerned... SV is pretty gnarly.

... though you're still stuck with trying to eke out a blood-focused build ... I end up speccing in curses or somesuch so I can actually do summat

Moar life transfer and life siphon. u nede.

Think about it like this. If.....the elite is soooo difficult to make an effective build around....why make it?

Just a thought.

Should have said so earlier. Yeah... there's no hope of making a competitive build out of Cultist's... at least not that I know of.

what if you go with REALLY low health(~200) and bring along life siphon. spam it all over the place, then use BotA for normal damages, and vamp gaze to even out all the saccing. thats my 2 cents.

Even with that though, it's just not worth it IMO. I've messed around with it before, everything from using Vigorous Spirit, to Mystic Regen etc.

The thing to think about here, is what the best possible end is. With this build the very best you could hope for is approx 50 dmg every few seconds.Ranged Blood skills all somewhat long recharges, to be used as spam skills.

Even with life siphon your only doing 3 degen/sec which is only 6 damage a second.

So for spamming Necro attack spells (not hexes) the best you can hope for is about 45-60ish damage every other second. Which really isn't worth the spot on the team if damage is what your after. Grab a Warrior and get the same amount of damage (just with auto attacks) and instead of having 60al and 200 health you have 600health and 80al (100 vs phys).

Maybe Cultists Fervor shouldn't be used as a spam factory skill, but just a E-Management skill in general. Try using it in regular builds to see if it improves Energy use, or try making a build that uses high cost skills but subverts the high costs through CF.

cheers

One problem is that you need an application for your build. What's it for? DPS, farming (if so where?), AB, PvP, etc.

The other problem is that there is nothing in Blood worth running. The direct attacks are weak and slow. VG, DP, BotA, JG, Shadow Strike (no thanks), Unholy Feast...

The touch attacks could work, except that they're 'skills' and won't trigger CF. meh.

Maybe Dark Aura? If so, you're comitted to sac-free lifesteals and/or Healing.

I doubt there are any high DPS necro-based builds at all, given that your elite is taken. The utility is pretty marginal as well, given the same.

Could maybe spam Heal Party.

You might be able to support Prot Bond, if you also bring EB and BS. Now you have 3 slots left for damage and utility. meh. Also, what's the application?

I thought of a Blood-Death build using Dark Aura and Cultists fervor you could try//tweak yourself if you wanted.
(Not the best damage dealer in the world by far and purely hypothetical.)

If she works out for you let me know;

N//M

Attributes;

15 Blood Magic (11+1+3)
10 Soul Reaping
10 Death Magic

[skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]Shadow Strike[/skill][skill]Vampiric Swarm[/skill][skill]Unholy feast[/skill][skill]arcane echo[/skill][skill]Cultist's Fervor[/skill][skill]Dark Aura[/skill][skill]Masochism[/skill]

or

N//E

Attributes;

16 Blood Magic (12+1+3)
6 Soul Reaping
6 Air Magic
10 Death Magic

[skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]Vampiric Swarm[/skill][skill]Unholy feast[/skill][skill]Well of Blood[/skill][skill]Glyph of Swiftness[/skill][skill]Cultist's Fervor[/skill][skill]Dark Aura[/skill][skill]Masochism[/skill]
