Default Communing=Dead?

At the beginning of October, There was an update:

Decreased the Health of all Spirits by 50; allowed Burning to affect Spirits.
Currently, at 15 Communing and 13 spawning, if you create a spirit- Lets say shelter- it has 243 health. It will lose 45 hp when it prevents dmg. So, without any spirit buffs, it can only prevent dmg 5.4 times. With Union, with the smae attributes, it can prevent dmg 16.2 times.

Considering Shelter costs 25 energy, has a 45 recharge and a 5 second cast time, It now seems pretty useless. Before the nerf, i was running a channeling/communing hybrid on my rit hero. I could see shelter up for a while then it would go down. But now, its goes down so fast, i never realised it was ever up.

These two skills, around the time factions came out, were the powerhouses of the ritualist. With the nerfs that followed, they became weaker and weaker. With these two skills basically dead, what else does communing have to offer? Lets look at the other skills:

Pain: Decent dmg, low recharge and low cost.
Ghostly weapon: With the lack of organized blocking in pve its not that useful, in pvp its ok.
Mighty Was Vorizun: Good energy buff.
Vital weapon: Good Health buff
Wanderlust/Earthbind: Good offensive spirits, but with the health nerfs, kinda iffy.
Brutal weapon: Good damage buff, but not practical in all situations.

So, communing=dead? I think so.
Rip Communing.

ok. Unless Union was nerfed and I don't know about it, it costs 15 energy, not 25 and has a 3 second cast time, not 5 seconds. You probably meant to say shelter so I will forgive you for that. Just making sure that is what you meant so other readers/posters wont get confused.

One of the points you made was saying that the recent nerf to communing had a major impact on shelter. You said that it will only prevent damage 5.4 times. Well, it didn't prevent damage very many times to begin with. If shelter lost 45 hp per damage prevention, than - 50hp on the spirit will only make it last one less hit of damage than before the nerf to spirits. Shelter kind of sucked pre-spirit nerf and the nerf really shouldn't be very noticeable when it comes to how fast shelter dies.

I don't think that this nerf ruins communing at all. The defensive spirits under communing have been bad ever sense the initial nerfs after factions came out. The damage spirits, on the other hand, are still as powerful as ever and we will still see them being used in pve and in arena battles such as RA and TA.

A communing Rt is the backbone of a decent Ursan team build along side a moti paragon and a single LoD monk. Unfotunatly PUG minded players already got their hands on it and changed it to 3 LoD monks with no protection whatsoever, Wander how many of those groups complete gloom.

Either way both defensive and offensive communing Rts are still effective, more so in elite area's than regular.
