A nice way to use the poison tip signet, is use Barbed Arrows, Poison Tip Signet, Burning Arrow and instantly use Epidemic to spread all 3 conditions to clumped foes

I beg to differ, i found that PTS and Barrage actually do work together, but the difficult part is keeping the group intact, i found that a couple of cases where i used PTS and Barrage and only a few got poisioned mostly because the other arrows were dodged, strayed, or blocked. PTS and Volley work well together as well.

Ive also tested PTS with Cyclone Axe with my War Build, and yes it works well with that as well.

Right now im testing PTS with Burning Arrow for Max HP degen.

I just tested this after reading your post, and Barrage + PTS definitely absolutely totally only gives poison to one enemy per Barrage. Furthermore, its not necessarily the one you target that gets Poisoned. The enemy that receives the poison is clearly one chosen at random from the foes hit by Barrage.

Edit: For kicks, I just checked it out with Cyclone Axe, Whirlwind Attack, and Triple Chop: Hit four targets each time, only one got poisoned.

Yeah it only poisons the first target hit by an attack.

Alright thought Ive revive this thread since Ive been Testing this on a R/Mo burning arrow ranger VS apply.

Ive decided poison tip signet is actually better then apply in TA. Why ? Because while you may not be able to poison as often, you will still be able too. This skill actually adds emanagement for BA rangers. It allows you to use [skill]read the wind[/skill] ( alot less E then keeping apply up ) and poison tip gives you a "free" poison. This allows you to spam Burning arrow on recharge, something Apply BA rangers really cant get away with for long. Overall, you will do more damage. Plus RTW is just better for interrupts, and makes those 3/4's like ZB much easier to dshot.

It will also make your BA do 100+ damage to squishies. -10 Degen and 100 damage from a single attack is just fun in an evil way.

Apply is still better for ha/gvg though. poison spread from apply is unmatched.

Yikes, sorry to resurrect this thread again but I didn't want to make a new thread.

I find poison tip signet to work really well in Burning Arrow builds like the above-poster mentioned (BA, PTA, RtW, interrupts), but I also find it to work great in Broad Head Arrow builds: BHA, PTA, and Rapid Fire.
Poison Tip signet allows you to use Rapid Fire with BHA, while still covering dazed with poison.
I also like how you don't need to invest heavily on Wilderness Survival to make it work. 4 points in WS gives you 10 seconds.

That said, I absolutely agree with the poster that said the main drawback to PTA is the 1 second cast time. You feel like you're sacrificing an arrow ever time you stop to cast it, especially under Rapid Fire. 1/2 cast time would be killer.

I tried it out when GWEN came out...I guess it's good for that first shot...

If I really wanted to bother poisoning things I guess I might consider using it. There's a lot better preps than apply poison...might as well ignite arrows and dual shot things.

I'm kind of a fan of just killing things though.

The only real reason I ever use Poison Tip Signet is to use Rapid Fire with a Broad Head Arrow build. Besides that, it's uses are limited.

I'd go with apply cuz its a prep, so more poison arrow shots

Apply is so much more reliable; in most cases you try to spread it around anyways.
