Is Golden Fang Strike unbalanced ?
Quote:
Must follow a lead attack. If you are under the effects of an Enchantment, target foe suffers from a Deep Wound for 5...17 seconds.
|
Off-hand dagger attack. 5 energy, 4 recharge.
The reason it seems imbalanced to me is that as long as you are enchanted, you will deal the deep wound. Blind and not following a lead attack ?
You won't deal damage, but you will deep wound:
And you also get instant recharge because thats what happens when you use a dagger skill out of sequence.

shhhhhhh don't tell anyone, i like how it works^^
but on a more serious note yes it does seem a bit unbalaneced with its ablility to do that. i have a slight feeling its going to get a recharge "balence" sometime.. makes me sad, cause i love this skill.

Agreed.
Still GFS-->Epidemic deep wound spam in the middle of an AB Mobfest is fun while it lasts.

DW with no damage isn't really that much of an issue to me. It will only ever matter on targets low enough that you can DW them, and hit them once to activate it. However, this is unlikely to happen and you're devoting a character to doing it. You won't get a team reliably under 30% to make all that much use out of it. The functionality is worse than a simple Shadow Prison or AoD Assassin running the Black Lotus/Spider combo with BoS, or the old AoD bar with Twisting Fangs.

I'm echoing what vanq said.
The bug needs a fix though, lol.
My pve build is generally Unsuspecting Strike, Golden Fang Strike, Death Blossom, Critical Agility, works fine atm.

I think its more intresting than imba if it stays that way, could be pretty good, espically as a finisher. Still if it is changed id rather see a bug fix than a recharge change :/.

The change I'm expecting to see is ANET put "If it hits" as the condition on the deep wound.

I imagine it'll get fixed eventually. Some non-'sin is going to catch on, complain about it, and it'll get fixed.
I would imagine that it has to be a bug, doesn't it? Does anyone know of any other attacks that deal conditions, regardless of whether they hit or not?

No, but I think the other skills have an "if it hits" condition on them. And I don't see the big deal about this skill is. It just puts on a deep wound, which really isn't that much as the only thing a skill will do, and it DOES need you to be enchanted for it to work.

Yeah, but deep wound is a righteous condition to put on someone.

it works fairly well in a mobius build:
way of the fox, leaping mantis sting, golden fang, death blossom, mobius strike
just endlessly chain mobius and death blossom until the target drops.
i've also experimented with this build:
AoD, shadowy burden, black mantis thrust, jungle strike, death blossom, golden fang. essentially, golden fang more or less replace impale. good thing about golden fang strike: it always apply the deepwound if you are enchanted. bad thing about it: no extra damage. as of now, the above combo cannot kill a softy target in one combo. although it is quite something to see a 100 damage, .5 (actually .25) sec swing dagger attack.

Does this mean that you could actually get a deep wound from an Illusionary Weapon build using this skill? Lol.
It does sound bugged...

Eeeeh.
I don't know.
There aren't exactly a lot of sin skills that can cause deep wound (only like 4 and 3 of them are in the deadly arts line, 2 of them hexes).
It would just be another condition for the sins to be able to apply "early" on. It's really no different than if you used an unblockable chain and then used Impale at the end. The person will be deep wounded no matter what unless they got something like Spellbreaker on them, but the chances of that are slim (except in PvE). It just comes earlier by like 2 attacks o.O And there's no extra damage whereas Impale deals some damage.
It also "frees" up a slot I guess if you wanted the Deep Wound and didn't want to put points in Deadly Arts and didn't want to use Twisting Fangs (though you get the nice bleed + deep wound combo..).
*shrugs* It just seems okay to me.
Edit:
and I've never even used the skill nor will ever xD;
