Default The Holy Crusader of Flames

[skill]Aggressive refrain[/skill][wiki]Holy Spear[/wiki][skill]Spear of lightning[/skill][skill]Cruel Spear[/skill][skill]Anthem of Flame[/skill][skill]"They're on Fire!"[/skill][wiki]"There's Nothing to Fear!"[/wiki][skill]"Go for The Eyes!"[/skill]

Took this Paragon into The Temple of the Damned, and I was impressed with the overall damage output and protection it provided. It's not brand new, but it does give a good twist to the Paragon's role to be played in PvE dungeons where most things are undead and can burn-except the Destroyers, but I'm not there with my Paragon yet.

The TNtF! link takes you to the wiki main page, so to see the stats of the skill, type the title in the the search box. negating better than 50% of your damage while getting healed passively is truely a beautiful thing.

Give your opinions.

The only thing that would trigger the extra damage from Holy Spear would be the spirits, which there arn't very many of down there.
The description says "If it hits a summoned creature", not undead.

The Master, as well as Murakai herself summons creatures, which is where it was needed most. The defense, like I said is already well documented, yet the servants of murakai are summoned creatures.

In any event, it also did very well against the stone summit with their Gnashers. That was, of course, not in the same place. Yet, with "GfTE!", critical hits are in abundance. Holy damage is just a geat bonus.

Holly spear is ftw imo(both pvp and pve). Even without the conditional extra damage it gives decent dps.

Looks like a fairly generic build to me : /
And erm, where is the twist to how Paragons should be played? That is how they should always be played.

And if you are expecting a lot of undead....should consider [skill]Heart of Holy Flame[/skill]. Doubles your damage for a cost of 10 energy every 30 seconds.

I never called it groundbreaking. I did say it gave the paragon a new twist in how to play a paragon in places filled with undead. Holy Spear does that just fine. Your mentioning of HoHF from the derv line would be nice, for sure, in a hybrid build. However, hybrid paragons tend to lack the team orientation when deviating far from /warrior. Can work, but have to taylor it some.

Well, was just saying that looking at your build, you didn't have any secondary skills, so you wouldn't lose anything. Also, HoHF requires no investment other than a skill slot. One of the attack skills could be replaced I think.

And I was just thinking, shouldn't Holy Spear do holy damage? The holy damage is obviously meant to kill undead, but it requires a summoned unit. How many undead in the game actually have summons? It does counter MM's pretty good, but that only works in AB. Just think it would make more sense to always do holy damage.

Aye. Even without the condition, it does a decent amount of extra damage, on top of which the conditional effect is just gravy.

Spear of Redemption is strictly better if you're not going to get the conditional (especially if the enemy is throwing conditions back...) but Holy is close enough that it's worth taking if there's any chance of the conditional going off.

it seems like a pretty nice build. I would personnaly switch holy spear with spear of redemption though. to be able to run the build around a little and not just down there.

Agree. Right now it's more like "Banishing Spear" or something. Well, they renamed Nonsensical Spear so maybe this'll get a tweak either in name or function. ;p

It works also in place where your MM gets his minions snatched by Verata's Aura.. I hate killing my own minions, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. It also excells in the Black Curtain if you make your way to ToA.
