UW Farming: A Question
I have a 55Monk. I got my +5 Sword with a 20% Enchanting inscription, and my -50 cesta. If played a lot on this character (over 500 hours) and mastered the many I-Monk builds.
I've also looked through the Farming guides section on all monk guides, but I was wondering, is there any way to Solo the Underworld?
I've read many hours worth of retired guides, methods, and tactics to do so. I can't exactly put all that material into one idea, so is it possible? And if so, what skills and tactics should I use.
Thanks.

I'm not sure if a full solo is possible, due to the diversity of enemies in there.
I understand there are mesmers with Signet of Humility (I never did clear all of the UW, just did a few quests to get myself and a friend black widows), so that will kill a 55 monk, not to mention all the enchant stripping.
I don't know why you would want to solo the UW, tho. Beyond smite/aatxe farming, that is.

A monk can also farm Charged Blacknesses (those elementalist squids) and behemots. It's explained in N/Mo topic, I think that Monk can do same thing... But monk alone can't solo mesmers, they are very hard even in dual monk + necro or monk + mesmer or monk + ranger.

what happened to the old fashioned zealot fire 55 solo build? to my understanding it was capable of soloing the aataxes, grasping, smimtes, even coldfires.. not sure about the rest of the uw.. but once upon a time, it was possible... probably still is.. jsut be careful of the dying nightmares.
so.. basic 55 solo with zealot fire. probably sb for saftey, or soj to kill.

Actually, i didn't know there we're "type" of runs.
I guess I want to go in, get some Ecto and get out. Or at least be able to pay for entrance.
So is there a solo build for farming ecto off certain enemies?

If I'm going there solely for Ecto, I would do smite runs... You don't need to ask for a build, just look around the first page of the Farming forums, and you'll see a few.

My advice here is, pug or do full guild group UW a few time so you get a feel for it, then worry about soloing.

Well i've been doing a duel run with an SS Necro. Not sure how long it should take, but all we do is smite run.
Is it possible to solo Smite run?

How about instead of asking so many questions, just visit the Solo Build list? It's on the first page.

How about instead of being a dick don't refer me to something i've already looked at. As I stated, i've looked there and through all the builds, and i'm not sure if there up to date. Either way advice from non assholes would be cool.

How about not calling people's names and being more handful? It's not really hard to check that last update to list was just few days ago and if there are any useless or nerfed builds, Dopefish would remove them.
I don't wish you long stay on this forum if you keep calling people ,,dick'' or ,,asshole''. Unless you really want to get banned soon.

Oi, be civil!
As for solo smiteruns, yes it's possible. There are a variety of builds for it, for most professions.

55 Monk UW smite builds are the most common about, if your not sure if they work just try them and find out, stop expecting us to baby you.
Added note, do you really think insulting people will encourage others to help you? The answer is no btw.

A post by me, copied and pasted (and edited a bit) from this thread:
The one I run (though I do this more for fun than money, aight?):
[skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill][skill]Riposte[/skill][skill]Deadly Riposte[/skill][skill]Gladiator's Defense[/skill][skill]Mending[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill]
I would HIGHLY recommend doing at least a few duo's as an SS or 55 so you know the map (and a LOT of 55'ing before that so you get used to the feel of invincimonking). But you need a good (preferably +5e Barbed) sword of Enchanting, a longbow for pulling, a staff of which you meet the requirement, preferably with +hp mods, and of course, the -50hp cesta.
Pull one group of Aatxes at a time, if a NM pops up, run behind Benton and wand it to death, then proceed to kill the Aatxes you pulled. Also, try to pull them a good way back, since sometimes you can get one of them to split off, which makes it easier. Kill all the Aatxes in this way, and then take the quest from the dude who's name eludes me [the Lost Soul]. Then, kill the Grasps one group at a time (this is the hardest part because of their interupts and ability to Daze). Also, try to always use Healing Breeze while you're in a block stance, which greatly improves you chances of getting it off uninterupted (and undazed). After killing the Grasps, go right from where you started, and take another right. You should see three groups, two of Aatxes and one of Grasps.
The rest is simple enough. If you want to kill the patrolling Aatxes, you can, as well as the Grasps so long as they don't have a Nightmare with them. either way, there's a group of Aatxes after the two patrolling groups that you need to kill. Once they're done, you can start on the Smites. They're simple enough, since they have no interupts, and they generally aren't in a big enough group to pose a threat to you while you're under PS+HB. The hardest part is killing them. In groups of 4-5, they spam Reversal of Fortune, which makes it difficult to damage them. Your best bet is to attack one of them (even if they're under SoJ), and use Glad's Defense (the Ripostes too, but they're very difficult to time with the Smites). Your sword hits should trigger RoF, healing them very little, and then when they hit you under Glad's, they take full damage. Repeat this until you've cleared them all.

I've tried the Monk and Necro builds to solo the uw and i still think if you are new to the UW and solo'ing it the W/Rt VWK is the easiest, quickest and most of all safest. Smite run of course, but i get 1 ecto on average to drop, sometimes 3 if i'm lucky and it can be done in 15 minutes once you get it down. I know you were looking for 55 monk build but perhaps you have a Warrior to use?

If you're new to the UW it's better if you go with a full team a few times to learn the layout. Saves you from wasting plats trying to solo when you don't know where to go.
