Beastmaster/pet help!
Well, Ive been brooding over the idea of a beastmaster for pvp and am confused over which pet to use and what build. I currently have a bear and its working fine, but its a little slow. I've been searching for builds also but cant find any.
Any help would be appreciated!

Here's my suggestion, read one of the 3 other threads on this very same topic further down the page... all you'll need is in those already.

I've looked over those posts and haven't found anything on which pet is best.

all pets are = with 3 exceptions:
1: bear is slowest at dealing damage as a result of the 'special' attack brutal mauling which has a slow activation time and no actual effect.
2: some pets have piercing damage and some slashing.
3: the evolution of the pet modifies *base* (autoattack) damage and max health of a pet.
thats it.
well, ok and looks.

It might also be worth to note that even though the bear has the slowest attack speed, its attack Brutal Mauling, is an attack skill, so skills such as...
[skill]Anthem of Disruption[/skill][skill]Anthem of Envy[/skill][skill]Wastrel's Worry[/skill]
Are all effected, and basically any skill that effects the attack skill of an ally

Moa's do in fact start off with the fastest attack speed, but by level 20 they are all equal*
*except bear as noted.

Then I'd recommend you go to Wiki and change the information there, if you have tested this.

It's actually been fairly common knowledge among beast masters since Epinephrine and Jenosavel's pet guide. I haven't tested recently as I've not found a single reason to... what with only using level 20 pets for any thing other than levelling pets... although I'd be happy to update the wiki after I do.
The Pet Guide - Found here (the OP may or may not find this usefull, but it's always good to have more resources):

A note – the Moa/Strider does initially have a higher attack rate than the other pets. This difference in attack speed disappears on leveling, approaching the other pets in speed.

From that guide.
I would like to see this tested as to be honest i find it hard to believe lol

Not too common. No mention in Wiki and not even I knew about it, and I have read that guide several times! Think I have been paying more attention to the attack speed charts than the brief mention of Moas attacking faster on lower levels.
Anyways, my initial tests:
Level 5 Moa, 12 Beast Mastery
I just let it attack the Master of Damage, fairly similar results on three runs.
Level 5 Tiger, 12 Beast Mastery
Clearly lagging behind in damage and was visibly attacking slower. Tested the tiger once more with Call of Haste active (25% faster attacks):
And it gets to same results as the Moa.
I'll do a bit further testing.

Level 10 Moa, 12 Beast Mastery:
Level 10 Tiger, 12 Beast Mastery:
Still behind in damage. Again tried once more with Call of Haste active:
This time went past the Moa's damage. So at least at this level the Moa isn't 25% faster in attacks. Perhaps it slows downs as the levels increases, but I won't be testing that.
It is clear that during the unevolved levels at least the Moa is best pick for a new character starting in Prophecies.

So it seems, good work ^^ Think I will test it at level 20 also just to see if it does even out completly.

Yes, in fact the unevolved Moas used to have a chance of keeping their fast attack rate (was about 1 in 5 from our tests), but that was fixed. At least, we found that we could no longer raise them with the speed untouched, despite many (dozens) of tries, so we figured that it had been changed. We didn't include the information that it was at one time possible to raise level 20 pets with faster attacks, as it no longer seemed relevent.

Hee hee, sorry... apparently I was mistaken in the assumption that this was common knowledge. Sorry for my error. This guide was one of the first things that got me hooked on playing rangers wayyyy back when, so I might be a tad overzealous in my assumptions of it's copy number in every home.
