what's so good about Air Magic?
I've been playing my air ele and I must ask
what's so good about Air Magic spikes? There's spells like the highest dmging spell, Mind Shock at 16 Air that does 106 dmge with 25%ap which is really about (+20-31) more damage, it's conditional and causes exhaustion. Then there's other spells like Chain Lightning that takes 3 sec to cast, causes exhaustion, and dosen't even do much dmge? I mean most fire dmge, earth dmge, and even Ritualist channeling dmge spells do like a base of 120-150 dmge. In the long run Air magic even with it's armour penetration is outmacthed, so could someone give me a reason why it's useful plz?
p.s. why...why must Air magic have so many exhaustion causing spells? *sobs*

Also it has the highest single target damage among the elements, stuff like [skill]Lightning Orb[/skill][skill]Lightning Hammer[/skill] do probably the highest single target damage for eles, and they have very low recharges compared to other spells so you don't need to fill your whole bar up for damage, you can bring other utility.

Air Magic has utility. It has Blinds, KDs, Speed Buffs and more. Those are the main reasons why it is great. Furthermore, it has armour penetration and high damage spells, so yea.
But I believe Mind Burn is the highest damage skill in the game.

14 spec Mind Burn is 212 damage.
14 spec Wearying Strike has an effective potential of 224.
Besides... Mind Burn is baed.
On topic... Air Magic spams blind, and that's really about it.
Luckily, blindspam is really strong.

I do believe Air magic has utility like knockdown, blindness, etc.
but highest dmge? the highest dmge from Air spells I know, even at 16 including armour pen is like 137.
Not counting the damage over time spells:
-You have skills from fire magic like mind burn, Rodgart's Invocation etc.
-Chaneling spells like Channeled strike and Sprit Rift which do like 140+ base lightning dmge, etc.
-Earth spells like Obsidian Flame that ignore armour, shockwave, aftershock, etc.
-even Water magic with Shatterstone doing 210 dmge and Vaporblade doing 143 dmge, plus no exhaustion...
though some may not be single spike spells, they can spike the whole friken group!

I think it's just the blind. The armour pens nice too. A fire ele against high armour drops pretty quick from 100 dam to 30.

Lightning Orb Mind Shock. a very good and potential spike with only three air eles. throw that in a gvg and they are their own split team.

To reiterate others: Blind.
Even though Air Magic can be lacking in PvE when compared to Earth or Fire for damage purposes, ironically, 95% of the time I play in Hard Mode I go Air. Dual Attunements + Blinding Flash + Shell Shock + Epidemic is very sexy on clumps of physical damage dealers, and removes the pressure on the team.
I think Chain Lightning used to be good, didn't it? At least until they realised Eles could kill people with it.

14 Daggers/13 CS deals... a grand total of 318 damage, if both attacks crit.
However, I'd still say Wearying Strike's the nastier of the 2 - only 210 of that ^^^ damage is instant, and TF is on a 15 sec recharge.
And Melandru is invincible.

Dolyak Prod Staff.
It single-handedly justifies Air Elementalism.
And Blinding Surge eles are the most annoying thing in the game.... besides Mesmers and SS Necros.

19+19 = 38 from + damage
19 * 3 * 2 = 114 damage from bleeding
100 from Deep Wound.
then whatever damage from your daggers.
38 + 114 + 100 = 252 total damage just from this skill.
138 "instant" damage + whatever damage you get from your daggers.

Something like [skill]lightning hammer[/skill][skill]Blinding Flash[/skill][skill]Shellshock[/skill][skill]Enervating Charge[/skill][skill]epidemic[/skill][skill]Elemental attunement[/skill][skill]Air attunement[/skill][skill]Resurrection signet[/skill]
Actually... I might try that in pve.
