Touchers?
I'd say they are nearly dead in PvP, though they can be used for pressure and a decoy target. Why? Because they are easy to counter, BUT, I will say that there's nothing like a toucher when the other team has a Deadly Arts Shadow Form Assasin. Touchers piss them off badly.

i dont think touchers are noob, but i dont like this build
yes they have the disadvantages of melee attackers and they cant spike
but this build is still annoying, they will not miss, we cannot block them, all defensive skills are useless in front of them..........
yes i agree mesmers and necro can be more annoying, but i still believe ranger should use weapons instead of being a vampire
if a necro can run the toucher build with the same efficiency, i accept it

Touchers are nice for the heck of it, but it's a weak class really. Smart players kill them without trouble. If you like a little idiot bashing, for heavens sake roll a toucher, game is about fun too .

Seriously, touchers can only deal decent damage if his opponent don't have self heal/healing support.
I always enjoy mocking them in RA (while playing as the yellow monk above) 'dude! you just touched a yellow baldy' or 'dude! I dont know you love touching a naked yellow tattooed baldy' etc etc
|
/win imo great picture lol.
Touchers are just annoying I usually just avoid them or try my combo if I think it will work.

My word on touchers is that Assacaster > Touch Ranger.
Also, since their touch skills aren't attacks, Warmonger's Weapon > Touch Ranger.

There's nothing wrong with being an idiot on a toucher, it's great fun because you get so much "OMG NUB TOUCHR" from people.
There are definitely stronger builds, but in AB touchers are still very feasible, especially in multiples and supported. To mess around with in AB we often run a Cripshot/2x Toucher/Monk team, and while it may not be the most effective build possible it does a pretty good job annihilating most AB'ers. (Although that doesn't say much).

i'll take "no fukcign way for 500, alex"
touchers dont exploit bad players, they exploit bad situations.
when you are playing in an arena(or a battle) with less hexbased snares than presearing, where monks are uncommon, and where antiblocking is nothing if not inefficient, a toucher is going to win.
you are almost definetly a "self hating" toucher who validates his total noobosity by sayign good players can kill you. wrong. good situations kill those disgusting things, not good playersA(cept for water eles).

Im not exactly a pro but 4 a ranger i like this tactic quite nicely.
"Throw dirt" is toucher skill right.
Anyone who gets too close for comfort i.e. an assassin or warrior.
U want to get out cos you are ranged not a tank built for close combat.
Use Throw dirt. they all get blinded+ a huge attack minus and then you have the opportunity to get to a better position.
What im trying to say is that toucher skills are good in combo with other skills
or specific situations.
Honestly i have no problem. If u are good with a toucher build and u kick ass with it then you are seriously good in my opinion.
Who Gives if you get OMG toucher all the time, they are just steamed cos u gave them a real whipping.

I'm not going to comment on whether or not playing a toucher makes you a "good player" or not, but I would just like to point out that if you use Observe Heroes' Ascent and top GvG matches, you'll almost never see a touch ranger. Outside of Alliance Battles, RA's, and occasionally TA's, they seem to vanish. There's a reason for that.

Nobody mentioned it yet but... what about touchers in PvE?
I am just guessing that a party of, say, 4 touchers and a few utilities (healers, BiP, etc) on PvE could be interesting?

touchers are RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO sucking pieces of shit with no imaginstion. Why are there so many noobs in AB when you can have a real kickass build you DIDNT snatch off pvx. EVERYONE who copies builds from pvx is a dirty anus licking cocksucker.
MAKE YOUR OWN BUILDS!
p.s: i make all builds myself, i can own any caster. broad head with silencing shortbow and lightning reflexes makes a pretty kickass build

People don't like touchers because they're the only build that takes less skill to play than SP sins.
Instead of 1234567, it's 4121212123121212123121212123.

I'm not ashamed to confess that I played a toucher in RA throughout the FPE (Factions Preview Event weekend). To my knowledge I was the first to use the standard bite-touch-OoB combo (didn't meet anybody doing the same, people seemed to be more interested in trying out the new professions) and since the monk meta by then was dominated by boon+RoF spamming, a toucher went through a monk like a chainsaw. It was a new thing (there had been touchers before but the doubled touch was what made it nasty), people didn't know what to do with it and I was greeted with a lot of OMGWTFHAX - wasn't called a noob, though.
Never played that in RA again but it sure was fun for a while

Well, post your whole build, and I bet I could whip out a better BHA build from PvX like a "cocksucker", Also Magebane is more kickass than BHA nowadays. BHA is only spells, Magebane (w/ D shot) is anything.

I don't do PvP, but in PvE I use touch skills. The OoB version for some melee farming, and sometimes the Melandru's Resillience for farming Glacial stones.
Don't see any reason to use the Necro touch skills aside from that, though. Throw dirt rocks, but only to buy me time to get away to Bow range. Aside from that, stick arrows in them from far away while you melee friend carves them to pieces.
Oh, and yeah, being a toucher takes no skill at all. It IS simply button mashing. Doesn't make it any less fun or useful, though.

Define reliable. As I've said elsewhere, I don't get to play the game with a ping of less than 500ms. With practice you learn to predict when something's going to happen and fire your interrupt *before* you actually see what you want to interrupt. With practice it approaches reliable (i.e. it actually becomes feasable).
That said, it's much more fun to degen the toucher to death before they can reach you... and as a matter of course I don't take crippling attacks into RA either.

When I play with my guild in PvE there is this one guy that will consistantly take a touch ranger. It can be useful in PvE since it is armor ignoring damage against those annoying earth ele and 120+ armor level warriors. He also is a makeshift tank if we cannot get a true warrior since he has some survivorability, not recommended for the very high end areas though.
