Ectos cost a bit more than that.
But as a monk get a dedicated UW clearance group and if you're lucky you'll get some ectos and a good drop from the end chest.

or better yet solo uw and make 2 ecto an hr not so bad

more than 2 canbe made just saying 2 can easily be made in an hr

For my first Obsidian armor, I farmed all the ectos and shards - duo-ing UW and FOW. For the second armor, I farmed about 70% of the ectos and did other mindless farming elsewhere for the gold and bought the remaining ectos, and all the shards from other players.

bought all shards and the majority of the ecto - i think i had about 10-20ish ecto as drops

never again......
