Shiro soloed in Hard Mode
Here is Shiro Tagachi, SOLOED, in HARD MODE!!!!! Without a 55 build, standard Tormentors armor, 485hp and I ONLY NEEDED 5 SKILLS!!!! NO CONSUMABLES! NO PVE SKILLS! EXPERT REWARD!!!
Look at my focus.....that's right.....A Rose! I thwapped him with my flower!
Mhenlo was dead the whole time, I killed him early on purpose. He did NOT contribute, in fact he kept messing me up because he would attack Shiro when he was in Battle Scars. (grrrr)
Anyone need a battlepick? Warning, very large pictures:
Shiro soloed in HM
Plus Expert Reward
Divine Path and no one to play with!
So...that's what I did today.....

Here it is again, a second ass-kicking. And you can see the build here. Soloed with empty skill slots!!!!
(and yes, I failed basic math, I needed 6 skills, not 5)
Shiro is my bitch
For people who don't want to open that huge picture:
Protective Spirit
Spirit Bond
Spoil Victor
Insideous Parasite
[empty]
[empty]
Balthazar's Spirit
Essence Bond
Blood: 11
Curses: 13
Protection: 10
The killing spell is really IP, not SV. SV just gets him close.

how do you deal with meditation of the reaper? which is life stealing, and ps/sb dont block against it. i cant see how you would deal him 500dmg to end it,apart from running away

In the words of (Captain) Jack Sparrow: "We must fight...to run away."
See where I am positioned? Fight there until he enters MotR, and then run just past the bottom of the ramp on the far side. When MotR is ending (blinking icon) activate PS and run back to the starting spot. MotR has just over half-radar range. So, I deal with it, by not dealing with it.
Battle Scars is a problem for the same reason, it's life stealing and bypasses all Prot. I deal with that the same way: by never, ever attacking him. This is also why I try to get Mhenlo killed ASAP...the little bugger attacks Shiro all the time and actually makes Shiro stronger.
I could go on about Mhenlo...In addition to attacking through Battle Scars, he has Healing Breeze, but NEVER uses it on you. NEVER, EVER. He'll use it on himself though. Occassionally, he will heal you, but not if you need it. ONLY when you activate SB yourself, THEN he stick you with a 200+ WoH. Oh, and when Shiro attacks Mhenlo...he'll run around and screen Shiro off...onto you, often explicitly running right past you. If he wasn't in the mission at all, things would be much easier. He makes the whole thing much harder.
Anyway, Shiro's other skills are:
Riposting Shadows - Irrelevant
Banishment - He doesn't use this at all if you solo him.
Impossible Odds - This one is NASTY. It removes ALL conditions and ALL hexes. It deals an INSANE amount of damage in an incredibly short amount of time. Even with PS up, you'll die within a second, two at most, unless you get SB up. But SB only lasts for 10 hits, which is like 1-2 seconds. So you have to twitch SB. DO NOT try to stretch things and get one more hex on him. NO. Does Not Work. Dead.
Also, be very, very aware of aftercast. Account for it, or...die.
At the same time, you can't hex him until he uses IO, so you're juggling several things at once. Still though, IO gets Shiro killed too, because your hexes double-trigger on him. Very love-hate with this skill.

FYI: Even if you could absorb the 600+ lifesteal, you don't want to...because that an extra 600 points for Shiro.
About a year ago, before the SB nerf, I did run a 660hp SB build against him using Grenth's Balance. That had the advantage that I could survive MotR if I accidentally got too close to him, and GB knocked him down very fast. But the problem was killing him, GB won't do that. So I had to have a way to finish him off. Still AFAIK I was the first to solo him in NM as well.

I tried to do this myself solo in HM. I failed, meaning, I only got expert's. I wanted to get master's for this in order to complete my Guardian of Cantha title. However, the method outlined is far too slow (it's similar to what I used.)
As for Meditation of the Reaper, there _is_ a solution to deal with it. Demonic Flesh. I used that.

you'd have to sacrifice the prestige on having two blank skill slots, but why not SoA for impossible odds? that + SB = invincible and free to hex him. also, if you really don't mind losing prestige, Parasitic Bond to bait out Impossible Odds.
otherwise, well done, but i've been doing this for a while - there was a very old thread on it long ago.

Because of Mhenlo. Battle Scars is life stealing. Perhaps you could armor-swap after getting him killed, but you'd still face aftercast delays when renewing SoA/SH. Maybe, though.

Yea, I used that on my 660+ hp build. But what advantage is there to tanking MotR? It counts as a 600 point heal for Shiro, and can be avoided by running away. It's not like you can bring him out of MotR.

Yea, that's fair...from a level 33 endgame super-boss in HM

SB can easily handle the lifesteal from Battle Scars. you wouldn't use SoA for anything until he starts using impossible odds - and you should see that coming when he drops around 40% health. btw, i'm suggesting SoA with the current build / equips.

SoA is a big help in that it will cover you after SB ends. I also threw Awaken in to add insult to injury.
Masters is possible, if you can get Shiro to murder Mhenlo quickly. I absolutely HAD him for masters on my second run today...and the phone rang right as I needed to renew SB and that nanosecond distraction killed me.

Several times now I have died immediately after renewing SB, to my raging disbelief. Because I definately activated it in time, and PS was active, so I should have been safe.
After inventing several new curse words and losing my voice screaming in frustration, I realized a part of the problem I've been having: Spirit Bond does not reset it's hit counter if you renew it before it ends.
I knew that, but had forgotten. Yet another thing to juggle. Sigh.
Getting solo-masters isn't at all about skill. It's PURE luck.
Shiro:
Uses his skills randomly
Uses his attacks randomly (lead, offhand, dual)
Targets enemies randomly
Since both hexes I use depend on him attacking, I need him to just lay into me or Mhenlo. But he beats on me for a bit, often using Riposting Shadows to the other person RIGHT as he has one of us under 10hp. He'll use RS back-to-back-to-back-to-back. He'll run back and forth between Mhenlo and me. He'll just stop sometimes. He'll sometimes do lead-offhand-dual repeatedly (which is great) and then just do lead-lead-lead-lead which does very little damage.
He'll sometimes spam the crap out of IO, and completely ruin any chance of Masters because IO bemoves BOTH hexes in HM. Other times he seems oblivious that he's hexed at all and murders himself in a flurry.
If you are going for Masters, you MUST get him into Impossible Odds by the time he enters MotR for the second time. If he doesn't, you might as well zone and start over. I've made this happen TWICE in about a hundred attempts.
I also suspect the longgggg run to get to Shiro counts as mission time, rather than starting after the cutscene. Which REALLY makes me want to use a Celerity, but that would quickly become very expensive.
And Mhenlo is a useless sack of ^$#&
On a good note: I can consistently beat him now for Expert, nearly every time.

Good job!
Last summer I tried to do it with only necro skills a few times (NM). At best I did get him down to 15% health, but then he choose to attack me instead of finish off Mhenlo.
However, I did not know you could outrun the Meditation so I packed spammable direct damage.
I had some build with SV/IP/enfeeble/dark pact/necrosis/reckless haste/Price of failure/the celestial skill.
I guess you need a lot luck + probably consumables to manage it with only necro skills. His random behavior make it possible but it might take a lot of attempts.
Regards,
Cloudbunny
