Steady Stance war Questions
Ok, I was contemplating trying out this build
(as it seems all other builds revolving around tactics skills seem to be utter trash, if you know of another post it)
Ok so my following layout consists of: Steady, Desp/Drunk, Ermites, rez, and then the rest of the slots are pretty much open.
So my question is what skills would go well to fill those spots? Yes, I have read PVX wiki, and yes I read the variants and such. But some of those at least to me seem to lack synergy with the build.
I was thinking possibly Brawling Headbutt for a nice little shutdown?
Or save yourselves for the occassional 100+ Al.
Obviously those don't have to be it, possbily I'm a complete idiot about this entire build but oh well.
My main concern is doing something with the extra adrenaline I get, and also managing my energy for the other skills besides the combo the build is based around.
Finally, I was wondering what scythe would be best, or at least adequate, I really don't want to spend a whole lot on a build that is mainly for non serious gameplay. (lol serious gameplay, I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron)
Thank you for reading this rather long winded post, and thank you for responding.

Just take what you have there and add Eviscerate and Executioner's Strike with at least 12 in axe and you should be fine for normal PVE play. Oh yeah, also take the skill, For Great Justice to help fuel your attacks and if you can, Save Yourselves to help protect your team. In difficult areas, try to click Save Yourselves about every 3 seconds or so.--You should be fine.

well, steady stance is pretty much dead. it died out 14 months ago and has been sloly fading out more and more each day until SS finally got the big boot if now having to hit un order to get the energy. if you enounter blocking you're pretty much going to be e-denied after your first 3-4 drunken/desperation attacks..

SS itself never really died. The only build that used it did (Iway), and that died after "Fear me" got nerfed a few weeks ago.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you hit multiple targets using a Scythe even with SS, you'll get KD'd.

actually, cathode reborn, SS war was originally created with zergway 15 months ago. "the black parades" made the build and i am actually proud to say i was part of the guild when we created the build. everyone called us "zergnoobs" and said "get a real build" when they failed to realise that we CREATED the build it begin with.
simply put, we ran it SO well and SO flawlessly people hated us. back when halls was only cappable and had to be held, we would always get ganked and we would still win in the end. we got people from r6 to r10 in roughly 2-3 weeks. i, personally, went from r3-r6 within' 2 weeks myself from zergway. too bad i didn't grind, otherwise i could have gotten the same results as my ex guild members got. the accomplishments go on with what we did to the HA community pre-nerfed HA during 6v6. ^^
oh, and people such as pheryel, loki, destructive, perfected, ect all were in the guild during this time. i kinda miss them. great people :>

Actually, the biggest hit to Steady Stancers was putting a 6 sec recharge on "Fear Me!" - the main strength of SS was the retarded energy denial, which could swiftly drain even high-energy sets - and when a monk bottoms out his 15/-1s, the team is screwed.
The nerfs to the Blows that needed them to hit hurt too, but nowhere near as much as killing "Fear Me!"
However, because "Fear Me!" fails @ PvE; and blocking is nary a problem - SS is fine for a change of pace on a PvE war
SS with a scythe is the way to go - simply put, scythes deal the most damage and you're not losing much by using them.

That's the old template I had, you might wanna look at something else since "WY!" was nerfed - Steady Stance should probably give enough adrenaline to make "Save Yourselves!" feasable.

Steelfang Slash + Scythe = fail
Save Yourselves! is a super-powered party boost, works well with a Scythe Warrior. Been there, done that...a D-Slasher is way better.

yes, i know just about every variation of the SS war. rending touch was something we (the black parades) did as well that actually got rending touch "noticed". what we did was use [skill]aura of thorns[/skill] + [skill]rending touch[/skill] to cause an insta-snare (for the most part) against kiters since kiting was the only real way to ever stand the slightest bit against us with zerg (though this variation was just a test and only ran it a few build before once again changing it to something else to keep the HA community from knowing the legit version of zerg)
about the build you posted... i would change WY for SY and HS for LC since LC was "buffed".
oh well, this is also just my my 2 cents on the matter. ^^

maybe a little off topic but
friend of mine uses
12+1+1 Tactics
10+1 Hammer
8+1 Strength
[skill]Steady Stance[/skill][skill]Drunken Blow[/skill][skill]Desperation Blow[/skill][skill]Hammer Bash[/skill][skill]Crushing Blow[/skill][skill]Distracting Blow[/skill][skill]"Shields Up!"[/skill]rez
ive tryed it and it was ok better then syth imo "KDs ftw" only thing id chage is drunken or desperation, i think 1 them is all you need, a IAS or speed boost may work nice or Wild Blow maybe

Speccing a 3rd attribute heavily for a weak self-heal with a minor additional effect is a bad idea.
I couldn't care less you were in Parades when they 'invented' the build - it takes minimal skill to run, and it's quite clear you never had a real say in the creation of the build.
oh wait... Power Of My Ranger guested with my guild... does that make me total awesome and knowledgeable on all things R-Spike? :>

Tell someone who gives a shit'n'stuff.
I despise this 'build invention' BS - how about giving credit to Anet for creating the skills. We don't invent builds, we slap pre-existing skills on the bar and see how they turn out.

I'd be surprised if Anet hasn't tried every conceivable bar in the game. That's how new skills arise, that's how skills are buffed and nerfed. They move the meta by actively encouraging us to try new skill combinations to keep the game from growing stale for too long.
Take a look at the changes to Foul Feast, Plague Signet, the complete rework of Wail of Doom. This encourages 'creativity', but don't think they don't know what the changes will bring to the game. Anyone could see from a mile away what would happen with Headbutt, Foul Feast and Plague Signet...rock, paper, scissors - a change to the meta brings renewed interest in the game.
re: Steady Stance - it doesn't take a genious to combine a skill that prevents knockdown and gives an energy gain by preventing it, with a skill that would otherwise cause a knockdown - why else would the skill exist? Credit where credit's due...gimme a break! Congrats on the ability to read a skill description.

Ditto. Moment I saw nightfall, This was my first cap goal.
At 14 tactics, you'll get 4 adr and 8 energy with a zealous weapon using drunken/desperation - net energy cost of 2 energy.
There's only one flaw with it - As a stance, it's prohibitive as far as ias and speed goes. I've tried other ideas - didn't like the rit weapon of aggression (costly!), iway with a low level pet may work i guess, but seems clumsy for pve - i don't bother with pvp.
Even without ias though, it's good for sustained damage. At level 14 tac, it's +38 damage. plus timing it right, you'll have steady stance recharged in time for the 2nd drunken hit, immediately afterwards. depending on the skills used, you can chew through adrenaline skills. My version of a scythe warrior used *gasp* symbolic strike. The other 4 skills were 3 signets - Signet of Pious Restraint (snare!), healing sig, sunspear rebirth; and Eremites (simulated? ias). not taking full use of symbolic, but it's not the most versatile one. +30 is pretty fine.
My axe version used adrenaline gain as for go for the eyes (preceed drunken with this). I'd guess there was a 50% chance to crit on this - the hit would charge it again (4adr), ready for a follow up second hit, also with gfte - and helping any other physical dealers.
For swords, I'd go with all their adrenaline based attack skills. Final trust will charge FAST here.
I found it difficult to maintain steady stance when using multiple energy based attack skills other than drunken/desperation. Not that there's any need to given the adrenaline bonuses. Consider that you need an existing pool of energy to use this build. you get back 8 energy on striking - it wont cost 2 or 3 energy.
This build is PERFECT if you're doing your clone in prophecies - i.e. don't EVER give this combo to a hero. They'll just end up on their heiney.

If we're talking origins, the build predates SS all together. Echo was originally used to double the adrenaline throughput of fear me... if memory serves me correctly, it was run by fianna during the world champioships in 2005 and I'm pretty sure I saw a board posting of the build before even that. The build got stronger after factions when they added in drunken blow, then again with Steady Stance where it reached its pinacle just prior to the first WY nerf, its been on a downhill slide since until it was effectively killed by the FM recharge nerf.

Build Creation:
[skill]Steady Stance[/skill]+[skill]Drunken Blow[/skill]
What a genious!
and cellardweller is right. Builds don't start from the scratch, they're just improvements on older builds.
@OP
Steady Scythe is the way to go. Or you could try a hammer in PvE and spam hammer bash.
