Axe Builds?
Hey, I was just wondering if there are any Axe Builds (For PvE) that are fairly equal to Sword Builds such as Dslash? Please post em here. Thanks

I don't believe it's possible for an axe to generate that level of DPS due to its lack of an instant adrenaline engine...
Your closest bet for a High DPS style axe would include low adrenaline skills such as:
Keen Chop
Penetrating Blow
Cleave {E}
Dismember
Problem? Swords still have better Avg. dps so axes can't be relied on for that kind of setup. I think for maximum power, you'd need to fight using a combination of adrenal buff and hexes.
Weaken Armor, Barbs, and Mark of Fury come to mind.

Axe builds are better than swords when it comes to dealing AoE damage, PvE-wise. Play to that strength.
If you want to play Axe in PvE at top effectiveness, run Triple Chop.
With Cyclone Axe and Whirlwind Attack, pretty much all of your attacks can be multi-target. Throw on Splinter Weapon (or bring a caster with it) for even more AoE devestation.
Then... "Save Yourselves!" (it'll charge fairly fast hitting multiple enemies) and Flail and you're golden.
Build, build, build! (... Stormlord is thinking. Poor world)
12+1+1 Axe, 10 Channeling, 8+1 Strength
[skill]triple chop[/skill][skill]cyclone axe[/skill][skill]splinter weapon[/skill][skill]flail[/skill][skill]rush[/skill][skill]death pact signet[/skill]
Rush isn't strictly needed, you could take Dismember or Brawling Headbutt there too.

Thanks for your quick responses. I'll be sure to try out Triple Chop, Dslash all day just gets boring.

Surprised no one here suggested Fury with Illusionary Weaponry. Can't be blocked, can't miss, blind condition has no affect, still reap the benefits of riposte. So long as you swing, you do dmg. Oh and it is dmg that ignores armor as well. I'd imagine cyclone would work nicely with it too.
Read the full wiki on Illusionary. Could be the basis for some very nice melee builds.

Because most of the people here have a clue. IW is bad on a mesmer, and worse on a warrior.

No, it can't. A build with IW is gimped from the beginning. The damage is comparable to merely attacking without any skills. A warrior then gets better by adding attack skills to really hurt things, IW gets worse because you can't build adrenaline and the rest of your bar will be trash.

Low damage, takes your elite, no deep wound, and you suggested Riposte. The reason no one suggests IW is because it is a terrible skill.

This is a fun build to use in PvE...
W/E or W/Mo strength 9/10, axe 15, tactics 11/12....rest in earth magic/protection prayers
[skill]healing signet[/skill] [skill]enraging charge[/skill] [skill]flail[/skill] [skill]dismember[/skill] [skill]cleave[/skill] [skill]executioner's strike[/skill] [skill]agonizing chop[/skill] [skill]grasping earth[/skill] or [skill]mending touch[/skill]
Im not a big fan of PvE only skills so i wont suggest any of them, but if you want an all warrior build use [skill]"watch yourself!"[/skill] or a res instead of grasping earth or mending touch.

I just run the standard W/E evis>exe chop build in pve and it seems to work great. DSlash is used so much just for the fact it works so well with Save Yourself. Running Shock axe in pve is like ftw... XD
I've run stuff like Evis Exe Chop Bullstrike SY For Great Justice Flail Enraging
IF you want to be cool like the old WM you can run that bar as a W/Mes and bring power spike XD its 5 e now and hell when you got no interrupts it helps sometimes XD
AND NEVER EVER run IW on a warrior bar. That is the dumbest possible thing you can ever do. Gimping your DPS to 29 each hit is completely moronic!

I still stand by my build as a fun axe alternative to Dslash...
[skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill][skill]Whirling Axe[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Conjure Lightning[/skill][skill]Dismember[/skill][skill]Executioner's Strike[/skill] + "I Am The Strongest!"

Nice to know that when someone tries to help, people are so gracious about their criticism.
Funny thing is IW on my Derv did a great job against both Shiro and Abaddon.
It's a video game Stormlord. Don't go breaking your arm patting yourself on the back.

He may not be being very helpful, but you're actually hurting other's chances at being successful. Suggesting IW is like suggesting that we take off our armor and /sit in battle.

You weren't helping though.
Reread the OP.

...
IW is hardly equal to auto-attacking, let alone a full godmode DSlasher.

If you offer bad help, you shouldn't be surprised when people call it bad. Alex is right on this, like it or not. The only real use I've ever found for IW was winning a rather large bet on whether I could beat a stance tank with another warrior in melee.
I don't know that I'd want to run splinter on the warrior, as it's fairly time-intensive. A conjure or somesuch would probably fit better, and have a rit or a necro throw splinter on you.

Funny thing is you can beat every PvE area with an empty skillbar. Doesn't make it good, and it certaintly doesn't make it automatically qualify as an Axe build on par with DSlash.

while Alex can be a lil harsh, i think the main goal of these post your opinion threads is to find the ultimate solution, not really going for some fun, happy alternative. although, feel free to make a thread like that ect, thats all fine and dandy, but its almost offensive tbh, to say something about IW on a warrior bar to a wad of the best warriors guru offers.
it'd be like going to a bar with a bunch of bikers shooting pool and saying, "one time on the style network, they said pink was the new 'tough guy' look.... i think you guys should wear pink!!"
