Boon Prot w or w/o GoH?
With Offering of Blood costing just 1e, a Boon Prot seems attractive again, imho.
Is it worth it to try and fit Gift of Health onto a Boon Prot bar? Or is it better to just go with the old Boon Prot build?
DF 11 + 1 + 1, Prot 10 + 1, Heal 7 + 1, Blood 7
Divine Boon
Reversal of Fortune
Gift of Health
Guardian
Dismiss Condition
Prot Spirit/Spirit Bond
Signet of Devotion/Contemplation of Purity
OoB
versus:
DF 11 + 1 + 1, Prot 10 + 1, Blood 10
Same bar with Holy Veil instead of GoH

You know what's sad.. I actually took the old boon prot into RA last night, and got to 13 wins.
lol...
Veil is extremely good, and with Divine boon, you shouldn't even have to heal more then the occasional reversal of fortune.
Let's look at it this way, you walk into RA, you see a mesmer, most likely a dom mesmer.
What do you do without holy veil?
Erm, if you're doing this in PvE, then yeah this should work fine... but anything works fine in PvE.

anything works in RA as well ..
Looks nice, but hex removal is needed. I would actualy prefer Deny Hexes over veil with d-boon and CoP/Signet

Well...yeah.. but it's more skilled then PvE.. I mean, the other player is actually doing something to try not to get killed.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, God knows it's been awhile since I've boon prot'd, but I would imagine GoH is unnecessary. I'd probably make certain to keep signet of devotion + contemplation of purity, and throw out GoH. Then with the extra att points you can beef up Divine/Blood.

I know I never have done any GvG but I wouldn't use there as the sacrifice to of OoB and the nerf still to devine boon and cop.I have done some scrimmages though.

[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Divine Boon[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Contemplation of Purity[/skill][skill]Offering of Blood[/skill]open last slot.
[skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill]or[skill]Signet of Devotion[/skill] or something else you get the point. With OoB netting an extra 4 energy I can see why it's making a minor comeback. The build however was nerfed in many little ways that hurt the overall build.
Divine Boon has been lowered in healing and increased in recharge.
Contemplation of Purity has had a few nerfs along the way also.
Offering of Blood has double the sacrifice it used too also.
There are many ways to go. The old BoonProt template was RoF, Guardian, Mend Condition, Divine Boon, and a fuel source. The rest was able to change as needed but usually Protective Spirit and a hex removal depending on if other teammates had those needs covered.

Exactly why I dodn't think it is worth it. In addition to that, the simple fact that WoH hybrids are energy efficent in GvG. In TA/RA play you have /A, /W, /E, /R lines that help with monk's defensive capabilities -- which was one of the major reasons that the Boon Prot gained popularity.
Might be worth running in PvE for nostaligic reasons, but as far as meta game goes I don't see the boon prot making a comeback, atleast not until the above points are addressed.

i believe gift would be slightly too overkill.
i mean, boonprot existed just so you could heal WITHOUT gift (as it didn't quite exist back then), and there's no real reason to run it now, either.
people mostly die from spikes, and gift won't do anything vs that.

As moko stated, gift isn't needed on the boon/prot bar. If you're having e-management issues, Signet of Devotion is helpful for some free healing, otherwise I'd run with Dismiss Condition just to make sure that you had a condition removal.
