Functionality reasons ftw
My reason for giving my monk a bandana is because it looks freekin sweet!
She has 15k Luxon though so pwnt!

Just a thought, but couldn't your opponent just use the "target nearest" and/or "next target" functions instead of having to find you? I see a little (ha, pun) of your reasoning though; the longer they spend trying to find you to click or tabbing to you, the longer you have to heal / prot etc.

Mine are Blonde not buns though and what is wrong with that and I have been told mine would look good in FoW?The reason you see so many Canthans is because a lot of them could of bought gold for FoW.

Clicking on players is hardly the preferred method of target selection in PvP. People make short monks because they think they're cute. I think class-based height was a bad idea to begin with, made doubly worse by the dwarfish proportions allowed to female monks.
But the OP is a legitimate one, and it's something I've wondered about myself (or, more specifically, I often wonder why armor monoculture seems mostly limited to warriors, monks and rangers). I wouldn't mind eventually getting FoW armor for Nadia, but I've already got a set for each day of the week and am in no hurry to add to the collection. What I really don't understand, frankly, are the Chaos gloves.
Chaos skins are some of the worst, unimaginitive skins in the game. Whether they're axes or gloves or whatever else--utter crap. Their popularity is a rather loud indicator of bad taste. When I play games, I prefer features that couldn't be devised and implimented by a six-year-old. Part of the thrill of gaming (to me, anyway) is the promise of exposure to new and cool things--and a flare from photoshop does not meet either criteria.
But still, the topic is an interesting one to me because--even though Chaos gloves and bandannas didn't exist when I made her--I deliberately designed my monk to stand apart from the Conformed Masses. She's max height and Tyrian, although I buckled on the hair buns even though virtually all Tyrian monks use them (they're just so goddamned cute!). Most of the time she wears 15k Kurzick with the Dwarven handwraps, as I made the character PvE explicitly to acquire that set. But recently I've become quite attached to Nadia in Norn, which surprises me because I think it was the last or second to last set I picked up for her in GWEN. I think she wears Norn armor exceptionally well, and I've not seen another monk look quite as good in it, IMHO. Somehow, the black and brown works on Norn, and doesn't work on 15k Kurzick (black 15k Kurz is just icky). I'd wear a bandanna but she just looks too good in (slim) spectacles and if i did wear one, I'd not be able to stop wondering where all her hair went. That looks like a lot of hair.
EDIT: just as an aside, I thought I'd point out that in my experience, 15k Kurzick is a lot more popular among PvPers than PvE'rs. I remember seeing it a lot in HA back when I was still playing it, but I've not noticed the same trend among PvE monks. PvE monks, I've found, will have different armors, but will almost always have the chaos gloves + bandanna.

I click on the actually sprite when targeting... I find it easier than trying to find the person on my party list. Although there is a time and a place for both forms of selection.

This raises an interesting point: if it's harder for the other guys to click on you (assuming enemies might actually do this, which I probably wouldn't since I use my mouse for pathing), it's harder for teammates with the same preference to execute their duties. I've always relied on the party screen, since I usually seem to be able to remember ho is where by the first minute or so.

Taste is subjective. I think my monk looks too cute in her black fissure top, chaos gloves and bandana... but each to their own yeah? The thing is... why would you care what my monk looks like? :P

Well on my characters thats ME! I decide what looks good on my monk and no one else and I don't care what everyone else wears It's not my problem.
I just can't see how the OP is making this an issue if he doesn't like it it's not like Arena.net is going to force him to wear a specific armor. Likewise if people really like those armors so what? its their choice it's not anyone's job to play fashion police, it's only a game.

I'm sure she does, and to be frank, no one's making a Federal case out of it. But in my years of playing GW I've noticed that monks, rangers, and warriors moreso than the other classes seem to prefer certain armor types.
In Prophecies, all warriors wore 15k glads. All rangers (females anyway) wore Druid armor, and there wasn't a "standard" set for monks yet. By the time Prophecies came out, the warriors made the switch to 15k Kurzick (which I liked at first, and then abandoned my plans to obtain because every warrior in the game had it) and the monks picked up their 1.5k or 15k Kurzick. Nightfall saw the advent of Warrior Primeval armor--eye-rollingly common to this day--and by then most of the Canthan monks had their FoW and were getting ready for the bandanna + chaos gloves thing. And now rangers are back in the armor monoculture with Norn armor, which looks badass.
But more to the point, no one really cares what your monk looks like (sorry), and they probably don't care what mine looks like either. A couple posters here have managed to get defensive over broad social trends. I don't think many people here realize that neither myself or the OP is talking about you (or anyone else specifically), rather we're questioning the trend in general since it's not like Female monks only have one or two good looking sets of armor.

There is another set of armour I have noticed that is popular with Canthans as well as the rest of the Monks. This is of coarse Tryian armour and most are dyeing it black and I have seen some wear Fow tops with Tyrian pants looks rather nice.I don't know why black but it may have something to due with Nuns and Fathers. They wear black a lot.

when i monk i used party window "some times i clk but its on footmen/npcs"
when i play ranger "or some times war' i clk a lot ok people ranger for a fast dshot on a 2sec cast, and i find my self clking if im solo spiking in ab or something to cut down use of the keyboard. a lot of times i find my self hitting to many keys a 1 time "for me a war spike is 5, 1, G12, 2, 3, 4" and i find it better a lot of times to clk to target so i dont have to do tab, tab, tab, tab, tab, caps lock, 5, 1, G12, 2, 3, ,4. you can use C that also is a good way to target imo, but for ranger, mesmers and eles you cant always do that and clking may bet a better way to target a lot of times

My monk has Ancient Armor too and I love it. Only thing is they need to fix the huge clipping problem with the guild cape.
I personally find Obsidian armor to look crappy...but I guess I'm the minority here. But I'm considering my next armor set to be 15k kurzick...

Originality is pretty limited to the available armor combos in the game... sure you can mix and match pieces but... yeah there is a set number of possibilities and of course it boils down to matters of taste as some combos will defiantly not look good.
