making money in normal pve
I'm in a bit of a pickle, because after spending all my money on primevil armour (yes, now i'm broke, bought to many nice greens/golds) i have no clue on how to make more cash!! my whole stockpile came from before the solo farm nerf, and I would not like to farm solo/ duo any more.
so is there anyway to make a good amount of cash playing regular old pve (hm or nm idc)? I have a warrior, ranger, ele, sin, and monk all lvl 20 and have beaten all of the games (including EoTN)
ty for your help!!
edit: if you say dungeons, can you tell me the most profitable?

If you don't want to farm duo or solo then do uw/fow clears.
Vanquish can give you some money however it will be slow.
Or make more characters and take them through factions and nf storyline. The missions give you like 500g for masters or something. Again slow money but it is money.
If you don't want to farm duo or solo then making money will be more difficult. You used to be able to make a killing working the market. However the market in guild wars has fallen through and I wouldn't suggest trying/doing that anymore.
As far as dungeons. The only dungeon I ever farmed was me and a friend did ToD duo and charged people like 3k to come with us in hm. I however haven't done it in awhile and don't know if its still even done.
I have found in the past 3 months alot of my friends have gone through there "stockpiles" and have had difficult getting a new one. The market is just a lot worse then it was a couple years ago. You can't get ectos as fast and the price is low. Unlike before you could get 100 ectos in a day or so of farming and they sold around 12k
O yea. You could run but even the runs in guild wars are like 1/5 of what they were back when people made real money.

Its still fairly easy to make money after the solo farm nerf. Gold items, greens, rare materials, etc are all exempt from loot scaling.

One of the most profitable runs imo is the desert tour run. Its easy, takes maybe 15 mintes and you can charge 2k a person. The problem is finding enough people that want the run.
Sometimes I do the SoJ undead farm either in the gates of Kryta mission or just outside Bergen. I started that because I was low on cash (10k) and within a few hours I was up to around 40k. its a fast run too. But thats solo though...

I'm in sorta the same boat. I went on a skill purchasing binge (including signets of capture). I have 9 very active characters all with 6 or more heroes. Getting them all "skilled up", armored up and well armed constantly breaks the bank.
Flat out, I just suck wind at solo farming. I've tried a few suggested builds from forums like these with little luck. I just don't think I'm utilizing them right. I'm glad to hear they nerfed solo farming only because I thought it was just me having the worst luck ever.
Because farming has just never worked for me, I've always built up my wealth the slow old fashioned way. I'm down to about 4K right now. I've got TONS of quests to do over my 9 chars. I'm just going to focus on doing the ones that have a monetary award. I figure you are bound to engage in combat on any quest which will also yield drops. That and doing an actual quest is typically less tedious than farming.
I agree about the market too. No one is buying or they are buying what I never have.
Oh and I'm not sure FoW is so great a suggestion. I've been spending a fair amount of time down there to disappointing results. I tend to get more lucrative runs in the Far Shiverpeaks. My 2 cents.

I made 80k solo farming HM in two days when i have never been able to make money quickly before, so believe me, loot scaling didn't hurt solo farming much. It's still very profitable.

Vanquish areas if you don't wish to farm (your title says nm but your posts says you don't care nm of hm, so take this with a grain of salt) . Even areas that you've done before will net you 1-2k. Its slower than any farm run would be for making money over time, but you help your friends toward a title track and may help yourself as well.
Chest running is not lucrative in HM. The cost of lockpicks makes the title a moneysink, the act a waste of energy if you want money. keys, on the other hand, are cheap, and open NM. You can still chest run some areas in NM for profit, as i understand these it, but I don't know which area is most lucrative at this time.
last but not least: HFF Kurzick and Luxon friends titles. if you have customers on your run you can make about 2k per. Thats 1k a minute over time if you only run with a full group and aren't very good; 2k if you are. But don't kid yourself; this is a farm. A big fat very annoying farm that will take you an exceptionally long time to get the title. The only nice thing about it is ease of multi-tasking: you aren't "just" farming for money. You're doing 2 things at once, and this makes it profitable to do.

Alex,
As mentioned the Buried Treasure, Treasure Chest, and Do Not Touch is very good. 1st 2-3 times is high value as mentioned. But if you exploit this too much, the drops aren't quite as good as prior runs. The cash amount drops and the gold items become purple. Still all chests will net you about 6-10K at that point.
55 Dead Sword runs in HM will still fetch about 6-10K per hour in cash and prizes. The swords themselves don't fetch that much any more. But you should still get 1-2K per, maybe more depending on mods.
It would also seem quite lucrative to do Slaver's Exile dungeon. The hero armor upgrades seem to fetch 10-11K here in auction. This I have yet to try, but have done business with those who have.

CoF runs are still by far the most consistent it seems. With a hero smiter, you can take 6 people and charge 2-2.5k. That means a guaranteed 13.5k to 16.5k (including quest reward) plus regular drops and end-dungeon chest. It usually totals to 20-25k made (plus chance of good rares/mods) every run, which takes about an hour to do.

I quit PvE because of that, I'm tired of being broke and tired of being lonely, I do now a lot of Random Arena and Alliance Battle, until GW2 comes out.

If you're confident enough at 600/Smite to take passengers, i reckon CoF is spot on.
Farming an area for drops or cash rewards seems to peak at 10-12K / hour, including buried treasures. Raptor Nestlings would be my pick for consistent gold drops, mods, lockpicks and merch food.
I personally run HFFF with multiple accounts (gotta grind the title anyway). With three accounts it works out at around 15-20K / hour (3x150g reward / 75 secs). Two of the three accounts cash in faction for amber, so that's another 2-3K / hour. I can easily drone away for 2-3 hours and knock out a quick 50K.

Regular PvE and earning money?
Vanquishing or Dungeons.
I started vanquishing and make an easy 2-3k per run after I i/d everything+ any golds with decent mods you get. Ive gone from 100k to 145k ish in 22 vanquishes. It's not fast but you earn a title plus its also fairly fun imo. Just i/d eevrything before you merch them!

Theres no other way around it, farming (work) is the only way to get paid. Get to work if you want to get paid. I dont understand the mentality that you should be able to have fun and get rich, thats not how it works, it takes boring work to get rich. Just look at real life, do you expect to get ahead having fun? no, do you expect to get paid being lazy and doing whatever? no, same with games. Now i dont mind the philosophy of having fun and screw work, but the point is you cant have both. Therse a natural balance and anet should stop trying to tinker that balance because farming is not fun, which is enough to stop people from doing it (like yourself) without the nerfs.
