Conjure Flame + Kindle or Fiery Bowstring?
---I'm using:
Sundering Storm Bow of Marksmanship
15 - 28 (req. 13)
Damage +15 (while in a stance)
Marksmanship +1 (20%)
Armor Penetration +20% (19%)
---Build: Currently using for PvE, not tested on PvP
Kindle Arrows + Conjure Flame + [Prepared Shot] + Prec. Shot + Power Shot + Savage Shot + Whirling Defense + Troll Unguent
------Attribute Distro:
Marks: 13 (12+1)
Expertise: 9
Wild. Surv.: 4 (2+2)
Fire: 6
---So here's my question:
Is it better to apply a Fiery Bowstring to my bow to skip the Kindle Arrows step and replace the skill with another preparation? Doing so would remove the 19% chance of +20% Armor Penetration.
(I'm also considering a switch to Conjure Lightning and applying a Shocking Bowstring to use with a similar build or with Barrage.. but you can comment on that if you feel like it haha)
Thanks!

Personally, I perfer Kindle arrows for "this build" than any other preporation. It works fine.
One more thing barrage + a element weapon spell = a not so good build. I'll stick to your build.

I disagree with Fluffy, Barrage + conjure is a well established quite a good build. But yours works fine, im sure.
Id probably go for kindle, raw damage is often better than degen (from poison) in high level areas, and other preperations such as seeking arrows and read the wind arent too essential in PvE.
As a side note, its widely agreed that [card]Power Shot[/card] is eclipsed by [card]Penetrating Attack[/card] the damage just seems to be much higher.

Its definitely not bad. Its a very obvious combo and adds damage. Splinter + Barrage beats it for damage, though.
I'd take a Fiery Bowstring. I'd much rather have the choice of a different preparation which can give more benefits than just more damage (faster arrows, energy management, poison or bleeding, et cetera) than to have the "privilege" to take a Sundering mod. It just isn't necessary enough to change your build around for.
Also, sorry its offtopic kinda, but if you've decided that Conjure Flame is worth a slot on your bar, fully justify it with 9 or 10 Fire Magic. Don't half-do it, that's a waste.. you can always use Ranger attributes for damage. I would also agree with the previous poster that Power Shot is poor compared to Penetrating Shot, and I'd even go further that Precision Shot is a bit redundant; take Distracting Shot instead. Three high-damage bow shots are a bit excessive, especially since you have extra damage from a Conjure. Plus, Distracting isn't just an interrupt, its a very effective shut-down.
As for Conjure Flame vs. Conjure Lightning, ehhh.. up to you. They're on the same damage scale. There's a lot more enemies with fire vulnerabilities than lightning, so I'd use that.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. There's lots of experimenting to do on my behalf before I decide what I should stick with. After I read previous posts about this topic (I'm new to the forums) I found that Power Shot wasn't the best choice, I just didn't know any better haha.
So I'll try variations of this build:
Kindle Arrows + Conjure Flame + [Prepared Shot] + Prec. Shot OR Keen Arrow + Penetrating Attack OR Distracting Shot + Savage Shot + Whirling Defense + Troll Unguent
I'll also take iridescentfyre's suggestion and use a damage skill slot for something else.
Again, thank you all so much for the feedback.

QFT. Triple shot+dual shot are much better choices than power shot, etc. because it triggers the bonus damage multiple times.

I have been having a lot of success in the Norn territories with:
Prepared Shot + Savage shot + Distracting shot +Kindle Arrows + Conjure Flame + Troll Unguent + rez Sig
I also use a firey bow string on my bow for the added damage I get with Conjure Flame.

Sorry for bumping little old thread, but since there was already this one about kindle + conjure i decided it would be better to use this one (i hope).
Does Kindle + Conjure work anymore? What i remember from my Warrior, conjures added the damage on it's own, like you would see 20 dmg from you axe hit and then X damage from conjure. But what i've been trying on my Ranger now, only additional damage i see is from kindle :S
Or does it add the damage to base damage? like 20 axe + 10 conjure and you would see it as 30 dmg done?
Wiki did not help me much on telling how it adds the damage only thing it says is that kindle allows you use conjure flame. But like i sayd, for me it looks like it isn't working...
Help noobbumper ^^

Ehm...
first of all,
Kindle Arrows cancels Order of the Vampire, Winnowing, and Barbs out.
And Judge's Insight cancels Conjure Flame out.

Conjures are added to your weapon damage, they no longer appear as a separate packet of damage.

Add a minor rune of Expertise and go 8+1 there so you have more points to apply to Fire or WS, but hell it's PvE add a major if you want and go 7+2, for even more points to add to Fire and WS, you do have Troll and WD after all, plus Monks and it is PvE so who cares about your HP do moar damage. Just be sure to stay at that "Exp 9" break point.

hum surprised no one comented but by not going 13(11+1+1) / 4 (3+1) you are killing 17 points (20 - 3), by the look of your numbers you dont seen to have completed your Attribute quests or reached level 20, il do that asap and try something like this
Marks: 13 (11+1+1)
Expertise: 10 (9+1
Wild. Surv.: 9 (8+1)
Fire: 8
(By the top of my head i think 10 Expertise is a breakpoint to reduce 10->6 / 5->3 if 9 wields the same result you may want to have fire or WS at natural 9)
As for the build anything w/ Conjure , Kindle , tripple, double , savage , any, any, any should work for single target damage/interrupt on pve.

I would say Fiery bow string. The 20% armor penal 20% is too dependant! Like in theory you would deal like urg 10-20 more dmg after 5 arrows?
Beside these are benefit you get from doing on the other way around!
- Fiery Bow string: It ensures the conjure will trigger even your preparation get disabled. Beside this is a cheap mod lol!
- Read the wind/Glass arrow are awsome. It makes your arrow deal more dmg and ensures that the target won't be able to DODGE it. Note: You can dodge arrows esp with flat/long bow. Beside these 2 are under Markmanship which also enhance the dmg you can deal as well.

there's this wonderful thing called weapon switching... use it...
also sundering is just crap, use vampiric instead with zealous and fiery on slots 2 and 3.
as for your build, kindle+conjure works fine however from my experience read the wind+conjure+fiery works better, and if you want even more damage exchange read the wind for glass arrows{e} or melandru's arrows{e} in places with lots of enchantments.
remember, your build should be like this:
2 or 3 attack skills, 1 preparation, conjure, 1 or 2 interrupts, troll and res/defensive stance
