Default Runes Question

I was just wondering wot runes would best for PvE apart from super vigor, Str and Sword minor ones, I was wondering wot I would use on my free 2 slots, I do have super absop on one of them, but was wondering wot I would use on the last one ie blind reduction? or somthing other, just wondering wot the brains of the GW community use or recommend, thx in advance

attunement/vitae depending on if your build needs more energy or not...if you don't need the energy, go vitae. if you do, go attunement. generally, vitae is better though, because if you have a sword most of the skills are adrenal, thus negating the need of energy.

Blind is bad for warriors, but you could counter it with a removal skill. I'd recommend playing your bar to see if you run out of energy (Attunement), or if you just want + Health

In general, your rune set up should be:

Weapon Mastery: 1+1 or 1+3
Strength: 1
Tactics: 1 or none (I recommend just taking one, it doesn't hurt at all and it saves you time if you need to take them on and off)
Superior Vigor
Vitae in the rest

Attunement is nice and can help alot; but in prolonged battles, having a higher energy cap doesn't help with energy management.

Survivor insignias are good, as extra HP are nothing to sneeze at.

And ugh, avoid a +3 weapon rune if you can. A +2 might be ok, but the extra damage is usually negligable for the loss of HP.

Weapon Runes are best on the head, so you can simply swap headgear when you change weapons. Those are usually the ones you want the extra +1 in anyway.

Survivor Insignias aren't runes but I agree, when it comes down to Vitae vs Attunement (for general use), Vitae wins.

Yeah, fixed.

I kind of lump them into the same thing since they're from the "Rune" trader. And they are worth noting.

Yea I thought I seen a post saying super absop dont stack, so no point in having a few of them on your armor, at the moment I have 4 Helms Str, Swd, Axe and Hammer with the + 1 minors on them for when I want to swop weapons, wot I want to create here is a war who would only change helms when I need to but dont want to change my armor apart form gloves that have stone fist insig for PvP Shock or Braweling Head butt or Hammer Skills, the rest of the armor I just want to leave the same for genral PvE use in any area.

So four Helms Str , Sword, Axe and Hammer with Minor runes with Sentry Insig
Chest Sentry/Super Vigor
Leggings Sentry/Super Absop
Gloves Sentry/Str minor
Boots Sentry/Vite

Only problem with this set up is Str helm has + 1 Str rune on it so if I do use that helm I end with 2 Minors sadly. Anyway would you think this setup is best for all rdy PvE, as I have been round every corner of these maps and I am never in an area for to long so I just want a all round rune and insig set up for PvE, and I was hoping this would be the best setup for that let me know wot you guys think. thx

+1 on head for 14 in your weapon of choice.
sup abs on chest because it gets hit the most.
+1 str (if you need 13 str for sentinel insignia), sup vigor, and a +1 tac or vitae on other armour pieces. eg str gloves, vig legs, tac/vitae feet.

This gives you an all round basic rune setup for general PvE, storyline or farming in the one armour set.

Buy helms for Sword, Hammer, Axe and maybe Strength.
Str helms are typically only used for farming, the Str helm bonus doesn't stack with the other Str piece (only the helm bonus will apply), but you're farming so who cares....it beats buying additional armour parts.
If farming take Knight's insignia because Warriors primarily farm physicals.
Take Stonefist insignia on one armour piece (hands or feet) if using knockdowns (hammer attacks or Brawling Headbutt).

Absorption is global, so it doesn't need to be placed on the chest.

There is no other Strength piece. If you mean the rune, it stacks with it regardless of which piece the rune is on.

Also, attunement runes are crap, except for maybe Shock.

@wannie: Yeah that looks fine.

I personally have a question that I think fits in here, does the -75 health from a sup in weapon mastery matter a lot in pve? As I find it is rare for me to have very low health. But I really haven't done elite hardmode missions and such.

I prefer minors because it's all the extra damage I need.
It just isn't worth the -75hp.

I use major weapon mastery most of the time (happy medium) and the way I see it is, your not going to notice taking an extra second to kill a foe whereas you will notice getting low on health or dying.
The +1 from major to superior inst going to affect your damage that much.

My gernal rune setup is:
Major weapon - Helm
Major Vigor - Chest (cant be bothered to buy 7 Superior ones ^^.)
Minor Strength - Gloves
Vitae - Legs
Vitae - Boots

The superior gets you an extra few points of damage against a 60AL target, but basically everything in high-end PvE has a crapload more armor than that so those few points of damage are cut down to an unnoticable amount. 75 health will save you more times than you'd think once you get into HM.

Granted, if you never intend to do any HM, high-end NM (like elite missions), or PvP, then using a sup rune won't really endanger your life. It's still not worth it though.

I'd actually think that Sentinel Insignas are worth it. It might not seem much, but when that lightning orb strikes... you won't have to Q-E dodge freak anymore . The downside is that it isn't that great for PvP since spiking is a great problem and that extra 40 (I think ) health can save your life. But in RA, sometimes TA, nobody does crazy 600s spikes .

It's always a good idea not to get majors or superiors. The reason is because 4 damage isn't worth 75 hp. Minors are okay, since they cost no hp, but give you a bit of a bonus . Put a +1 in strength if you wish to get sentinels.

Regarding my question, I wasn't thinking about the base damage, but the bonus damage from skills that is added with 16 compared to 14. Not that I don't believe you, I would just like to see the figures.

The added damage from skills is armor ignoring, so all that goes regardless of armor. Anyway a rank14 [skill]Dragon Slash[/skill]/[skill]Triple Chop[/skill] does 38 and a rank 16 [skill]Dragon Slash[/skill]/[skill]Triple Chop[/skill] does 42. [skill]Eviscerate[/skill] difference from 14 to 16 is also 4 and [skill]Cleave[/skill] difference is 2. [skill]Earth Shaker[/skill] doesn't do damage. Non-elite attacks have similar differences.

So if you only play nm PvE and don't play nm Elite areas and HM, sure - over those thousand of hours of killing you might notice a difference, both from base damage, skill +damage and CRITICALS. If you do HM, you will stay up attacking much more with +75 hp then with +2 to weapon mastery.

Of course, this considers you only have 1 helmet for each weapon. You can have 1 with +3 and one with +1. Those +75 hp makes more of a difference when you start getting DP than anything else. In PVE nothing prevents you to change armor.

This no superior all minor mindset came mostly from the PvP change, that doesn't let you change armor during fights, than anything else, although in the very though HM areas, max life is the top choice.
