Summary: The purpose of this build is to maximize Aura of the Lich with a N/W. Generally, a N/W is more of a close up character. Using Touch of Agony and Wallow's Bite, it reduces the 10% hp cost to 5%, and with Dark Aura, you can do a lot of damage.
Tactics can give you a nice shield, but also lessen Dervish, Assassin, Warriors, the occasional /Ws, /Ds, and /As damage on you, which is a ridiculously big help.
Blood Renewal is used because instead of using 25% hp, you're really using 12% (it rounds down), giving you a great advantage. And finally, if you choose Deadly Riposte, it gives you another block, which is effective against melee.
Aura of the Lich is used, because it lessens ALL dmg by 50%, including health sacrifice, which is HELPFUL, EVEN IF ITS in the death side. Also, its a win win situation. If they take off your Aura, you get healed. As for Dark Aura, its extra damage will make a pretty big difference.
The way to play this build is pretty easy. If you guys have other melee, make them go in first. Either hide in your charing force, or rush in later. Before you charge in, make sure you have Aura of the Lich, Dark Aura, and Blood Renewal (if you're monks are not available) on. Once you charge in, spam Touch of Agony and Wallow's Bite. For even more damage use signet of agony (OUCH).
Use Riposte and Deadly Riposte if melee dudes are coming over~
Notes & Concerns: You aren't a warrior. Without Aura of the Lich, you are in DEEP SHIT. Aura of the Lich stripped right when you used it at full health = bad. And also note that there is actually an energy usage when you use your skills... Though it isn't as bad since you've got only 1 energy cost spells... if you're short on energy, remember to take off the most useless skills in the most useless situations. A monk run with all their melee dead with Deadly Riposte and Riposte on, is a waste.
I haven't actually tested the build yet... but it looks good on paper ._. <- dangerous right there.
Credit: Okay, here's the story. So I saw a N/W once, and someone asked him his build. So I looked at it, and it had Aura of the Lich on it. Kinda stange if you asked me, since speccing points in death magic was dangerous. Later though, when I searched up the skill, I learned that lots of stuff were reduced, not just damage. I then did some thinking... looked over skills, and decided on the above.

Honestly, it looks like it does mediocre damage, the N/D version of this is better but even it's damage is eh.
It gets bonus points it looks like the N/W survivor build.
Epic.

I would drop tactics to 9 so you get the max out of the shield, and bring death as high as possible. Also you're doing some miscalculations...
AotL reduces all sacrifices to 25% of their original sacrifices because:
1) You're max hp is halved (all sacrifices sacrifice 50% less)
2) All damage you take is halved
=25% sac.
Also needs waaaay more death magic so you get more out of dark bond.
Maybe run 9 (7 if you got a r7 15al shield)tactics, 11+1 blood, 11+4 death and rest in soul reaping.

Signet of agony would be a terrible idea on this build. Degen is one of the huge weaknesses of AotL and using agony would just screw you over in the end.

Cultist's Fervor
Oppressive Gaze
Life Siphon
Lifebane Strike
Shadow Strike
Oppressive Gaze
Masochism
err idk echo vamp gaze doh! I ran out of slots 2 slots ago to put aura in
and I forgot riposte. however sacrificing 10% health made up for by lots of low energy vamp skills or even negating the cost of those skills. I love that your thinking outside the box as has been said its not really epic but your looking at skills gets everyone thinking about them gets my vote.
woah dark aura armor ignoring 41 damage really does pack a bit of a punch eh. what if a 55 monk used cultist fervor and dark aura? meh I'm sure i got nothing to bring to this so I will be quiet.

^there used to be such a build, a 55 N/Mo that used cultist's fervor.
However there also was a 27hp dark aura/wallow's bite which may be more effective with the reduced energy cost now.

Oh, thanks. Could the two be combined? You say "used to be" im guessing it was based on the sb flavor that went around a while back. what happened?

Well its not nerfed at all its just not really convenient (imo)
You sac a bloody lot of health with dark aura and cultist's fervor, plus wallow's bite's... you cant really handle many foes at a time then. But it still works.
The other used aura of the lich, still works, but you can't combine the 2

Oh well it makes sense when you put it like that perhaps if rit healing spells are used to create the sacrifice then it would negate... ahh but then no prot spirit. hmm I will think on this however I expect my thoughts are going to be all second hand.
Vamp spirit perhaps. Lots of new cheap blood hp stealing skills and masochism. well its got me thinking anyway thanks for the help I shall return.
