Default A different shadow step build plz x_x

Agggh I'm hurting my brain in trying to come up with a decent build with a shadow step OTHER THAN Shadow Prison, Dark Prison, AoD, and Death's Charge.

So I got stuck with [skill]Shadow Walk[/skill]

Why? It's non-elite, it's a 30 sec recharge but lasts for 30 secs, costs only 5, and can easily be cancelled by another stance like dash and you're back where you were. And the rest are not quite right o.O (tele to spirit? swap with minion? whaaa?)

Downside: can't use an IAS (though i'm not using them anyway) and you can't cast enchantments (currently not using either >_o *sobs over loss of Crit Defense* and even if i was, easily remedied by using it BEFORE Shadow Walk)

My main problem is I like snaring my people in some way so they don't run around like chickens with their heads cut off. And I also want to cause uber conditions and damage.

Therefore, the Shadow Prison build immediately pops into my head and I cry. It has everything (shadow step, snare, and hex) though it's an elite.

I've been fiddling and tried having a separate slow hex cast before shadow walk (not Siphon Speed, because it's pointless to shadow step by the time you cast it >_> you can easily run to them >_o stupid half range.) and go into the whole BSS + TF + BLS + BoS chain (I cry.) and it works, but then I'm left with only ONE slot open (the last slot was Dash as the canceler) and of course that should be self heal.

I've tested it (I used Crippling Anguish *cough* *is going downhill x_X*) and it's decent. It's like a Fake Shadow Prison build. With a -2 regen tacked on.

But it's obviously not the best >_o

I've also tried having a random hex and then shadow walk + Black Mantis Thrust + BSS + Death Blossom + BLS but run into the same problem. And that build is really wonky.

I have no issues with energy (which is why I can even do these whacked up builds) but I'm not happy. I need 10 slots dammit -_- *says this for every profession xD*

I would use Leaping Mantis Sting, but it only cripples if the foe is moving. Black Mantis Thrust cripples as long as they're hexed...maybe if I had BMS + Jungle Strike + DB + BSS? agggh but still the same problem of skill limit!

Am I doomed to use Shadow Prison or Dark Prison to have that all in one hex, or just not bother with the shadow step and stick with Siphon?

mreeh. I should try WITHOUT hex skills but I just can't seem to come up with anything D:

(Oh, and this is for general PvP, though I think without the obvious res sig, RA/TA might be hard. I generally do AB so I guess orient it toward that "PvP" area? >_<)

I alternate, depending on my energy.

Oh, and I did consider Shadowy Burden. I forgot why I wasn't happy with it though..maybe because it's in the shadow line...? well no, that shouldn't matter if i already have points in shadow..

Shadow Walk works in some cases. Consider Assassin's Promise for rc boost.

If you're desperate for IAS: Soldier's Fury.

You can ditch hexes altogether and use that crippling lead. Yes conditions are easy to remove, but I think you are banking on catching soloers in AB without condition removal anyway if you think that poison is going to do anything. Typically you make moebius strike your elite, unless you hate stoneflesh eles so much you want shatter assault or something.

eww no IAS plztyvm.

And Foxie (*is feeling different..must be because of the fact she's DRINKING Vanilla ice cream rather than eating it like normal people*), do you mean leaping mantis sting or black mantis thrust? since you say no hexes then you must mean leaping mantis, but that only cripples if they're moving and usually i tele to people who are standing still and don't see me coming

Laenavesse, the initial reaction of most people is to kite away, while you hit leaping mantis sting, and still connect the hit. Requires timing& an extensive player-knowledge. ( warrior's won't kite, casters will ).

heh. reminds me of that odd combo. [skill]shadow walk[/skill] and [skill]shadow of haste[/skill] in which you always seem to shadow step somewhere at any given time. even more fun when combined with dash and assassins promise on someone to spike. it's just something I do sometimes to just have fun with shadow stepping. lol.

but anyway, I have a non-shadow step solution that prevents a lot of kiting.

[skill]siphon speed[/skill] [skill]black mantis thrust[/skill] [skill]jungle strike[/skill] go very well in reducing speed, combines even better when dash is used to close the distance fast enough to cast it. proceed with [skill]horns of the ox[/skill] and [skill]falling spider[/skill] and end with [skill]twisting fangs[/skill] while having [skill]way of the lotus[/skill] on at a decent amount for energy management. or you can go with the classic black spider/twisting/black lotus/blades of steel combo.

[skill]dark prison[/skill] [skill]siphon speed[/skill] [skill]black spider strike[/skill] [skill]horns of the ox[/skill] [skill]moebius strike[/skill] [skill]twisting fangs[/skill] [skill]shadow refuge[/skill] and optional...use ZEALOUS daggers!

I use this mainly in AB and it works great....Only problem is dark prison's long recharge time. For optional i use a res (for anything other than AB), [skill]critical eye[/skill] or [skill]expose defenses[/skill] for ab....Instead of shadow refuge i go A/D alot and use [skill]natural healing[/skill] at 10 wind prayers, and for optional use [skill]harrier's haste[/skill]...attributes are pretty much up to you.

Dutch Masterr, I thought it was understood that he meant it requires knowledge to use it effectively, in order to get the cripple.

As in a Warrior won't kite (no cripple), but a caster will (omgwtfcripplbbq).

That's just me though. I could be wrong.

Ya,Sqube's right: Some skills are easy&nice to use, but in the hands of a pro: overpowered!

but but i'm not a pro T-T I'm still an apprentice!

Okay, so I'm not a noob >_> But when it comes to certain things I'll admit to it >O I'M NOT SHAMELESS!

But what if they don't run away until like I'm already halfway into my combo?

Like I shadow step to them but they don't notice and just stay there for like 3 hits and then start to run? I guess just hope Leaping Mantis is recharged and use it again and start over? o.O
