both non-elite and elite tomes only drop in hard mode. using them u can double-click on it, and choose to learn any skill (obviously only elite tomes provide you the elite sk choosing) that you have unlocked on your account through other pve chars or with pvp faction.

this in my guess would be very helpful for very low levels.. especially an elite tome. as long as you had it unlocked on your account, you could learn an elite at say, lvl2, without having to travel far and cap it.

D/N can be cool, as people said, wearying strike+plague touch, mark of pain and barbs, there are lots of combinations. If you can get your hands on an icy scythe, or can use Grenth's Fingers/Avatar of Grenth, Spinal Shivers would be good. Take a look at the Spinal Shivers D/N build I posted if you want, though I'm not sure you have Zealous Vow
