More appropriate place to post this..Fire Tank Build???
Ok, So I'm new to the forum board and have yet to read all the rules. Hopefully this isn't in violation of the many rules that are established.
Anyway,
I'm at Dzagonur Bastion mission and the mission I'm on has four bosses. Warrior, Elemental, Monk, and Paragon.
I found it really difficult to hit the stupid rangers because they had some sort of consistant block on that none of my axe attacks could penetrate. I tried a shock warrior build. I tried other builds.
The ONLY thing that was effective was a fire tank build.
Now, I really did massive amounts of damage, cleared the area fast (which is what you've got to do on that particular mission) and kept my energy at a level that I could get off fire spells and energy axe attacks.
I'm just wondering, with how successful I was...how come there isn't more Warrior/Elementalists with a Fire Tank build?????
I found my build to be highly effective in that mission. I haven't tested it on other mobs or PvE missions....So I'll give it a shot.

The actual build, if you would be so kind.
Then we can rip it to pieces.

Newbie to the forum doesn't exactly mean newbie to Guild Wars.
At any rate, the build's effectiveness in that particular mission hasn't been tested anywhere else,so I really don't know how effective it is in other areas.
Anyway, here's the build: ("Rip it to pieces" if you like, no skin off my back, just wanted some insight as to why no Fire Tank Build has ever been done before...)
Attributes:
Fire 7
Strength 9 <Gives you 8>
Axe Mast.20 <15 with runes>
Tactics 9 <gives you 8>
Conjure Flame
Glowing Gaze
Inferno
Open Skill <insert axe skill of your choice. I use a skill with adrenaline>
Open Skill <another axe attack>
Warriors Endurance {Elite}
Bonettis Defense
Watch yourself
I have a Fiery Celestial Axe of Fortitude with a Sunreach Shield....

You cannot have 20 Axe Mastery, the highest is 16 ( 12 + 1 from Hat + 3 from Sup rune) The fact that it is even lower with runes...
You *do* play guildwars, right?

Ok, so we're going to play this, eh?
No, It's set on 20. Want a screen shot?
I did the two quests in Prophecies that gave me extra attribute points.
I put 20 Attribute points on Axe Mast. It's actually SET to 15. I have +3 Axe Mastery Rune on my Helm.
Does that make sense to you now?

Besides that typo, the build sucks. Really, there's no need for a crappy PBAoE spell such as Inferno. Plus, why the hell do you have Glowing Gaze without a spell that causes burning? I would drop Strength entirely for Tactics, self-heal, and Fire Magic, boost up Conjure Flame.

You realize that '20' isn't your Attribute level but the Attribute points? '15' is your Attribute level for Axe Mastery.

I have the strength for Warriors Endurance. When I actually do use my axe attack skills, I get a good 10 energy if not more. I don't need inferno, I was trying it out. I like Glowing Gaze because I get more energy from using it. It's a good attack with an energy bonus.
I don't need self heal because my Monk hero has an excellent healing build and keeps me healed. My husband also has an excellent Paragon that keeps me buffed.
I can probably take some off strength and beef up Conjure Flame.

Yes my husband explained to me that it's actually SET on 15, and the 20 doesn't mean anything.
I've seen other threads where people put two different numbers (not the mod or rune numbers)
So I figured it was appropriate to put the 20 down???
Color me a Guild Wars Forum Newb... I don't know what the proper protocol is for posting attribute points.

ive seen worse builds, like a derish with 12 in firemagic, and nothing else, and just firemagic skills :/

Typically, you shouldn't split your Attribute Points into four Attribute trees. Spreading your points too thin is bad in general.
Drop Warrior's Endurance, Warriors shouldn't be spamming Energy attacks. Use an Axe Elite like [skill]Triple Chop[/skill] or etc.Get a Zealous Axe haft and use either:
[skill]Flurry[/skill],
[skill]Tiger Stance[/skill],
[skill]Burst of Aggression[/skill], or
[skill]Frenzy[/skill], if you're professional enough,
to boost your overall DPS by 50%.

That's a good suggestion. I'll take off Warrior's End. Take down my strength see if that is more effective.
It may not be the best build, but it's at least effective in that one mission.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess why I started this post was to find out WHY there's never been a fire tank build.
It seems like a good build for this (and perhaps other missions?) and couldn't find any resources as to why it was such a "bad build".....
Oh, right... a typo/misunderstanding.
On to the build!
The only decent fire skill you have is Conjure Flame, and at a piddly 7 Fire, it does pathetic damage. Drop Strength to boost Fire, or drop the Fire magics altogether.
Glowing Gaze is wasted on a warrior, especially one that must rely on outside sources to achieve the energy gain. Warriors simply don't need any extra energy management, their best skills are adrenaline powered, and any energy-based skills they take can easily be fueled by occaisonally switching to a Zealous axe. Therefore, Warrior's Endurance and Bonetti's Defense are wasted skills, and can happily be dropped from the skillbar, along with Inferno and Glowing Gaze.
'Watch Yourself!' isn't too bad, it isn't selfishly self-centered like other warrior defenses, and is a decent buff all round.
The 3 major things your build fails to include that, near enough, every warrior should bring (outside of 'special' situations - DoA tanking, running etc.)
1) An IAS, such as Flail (preferrred in PvE) or Frenzy. A 33% attack speed increase actual equates to ~50% more base attack damage and adrenaline gain, there a few skills in the game that can add as much potential damage output as an IAS on a warrior.
2) A speed buff or snare - running foes are a pain, kiting can easily kill a warrior's damage. Generally, a speed buff stance like Dash (/A) or Rush is used, they additionally serve as cancel stances if the drawbacks of your IAS get too much.
£) Deep Wound. Knocking 100hp off an enemy's health is huge, being abe to cause DW really helps a warrior kill stuff.
As it stands now, it is a bad build with very obvious gaps. ^^^ Include them 3, and drop the crap skills, than come back and the friendly folk here at GWG can help fine-tune it if need be.
regards, Storm
EDIT: Oh yeah... the reason you don't see many 'Fire tanks' is, for the various reasons listed by everyone, that they suck hard. If dodging enemies are *really* being a pain, bring Wild blow, not crappy fire spells.
Also, you might want to take along Wild Blow to remove those annoying stances that causes your attacks to be blocked. Just remember that you lose all adrenaline whenever you use Wild Blow.
My general build that I always use is
W/Mo
Bonettis Defense
Watch yourself
4 axe attack skills
2 that use energy (I switch 'em around)
2 that use adrenaline
Healing Hands
Healing Breeze
That is my usual build that I run with..but this mission is a PITA. :/
