Depends where you are.
LoD is great to counter mass degen, WoH is good anti-spike (things in PvE like to spike...). Sadly... a ZB Prot pretty much does the exact same thing for 0 energy while having the bonus of also been a prot monk.
Taking LoD and using Arcane Mimicry to borrow Healers Boon is brilliant, specially on Abaddons Gate. Moment Word of Madness hits you heal everyone for ~125 health for 5 energy.

I use WoH mainly...I use LoD only if I know there is mass AoE damage, but I find that only one or two of my henchies ever go below the LoD mark so it's sort of a waste =\ I love the skill though, but WoH has served my purposes more so than LoD has.

I'm sure I remember when you cast it on me you stopped dancing.
Maybe we should test it again

If you have a reasonable group, I'd go with LoD, as there will be fewer times that'd you would need the spike heal from WoH. However, since most PvE PuGs aren't that great, I would stick with WoH.

I really don't find myself using WoH anymore. I now run LoD when using heal and stick with ZB when I think about WoH.

LoD has its uses. It's great for mass degen, aoe dmg, or when you know your group is going to be split up and you can't be in 2 places at once. However, if you know you're going to be up against foes that deal lots of spike dmg, LoD is like a band-aid on a severed artery. Just doesn't do enough healing. My healing build uses WoH unless I know I'll need a fast-recharging party heal. Otherwise, I just use Heal Party with Leader's Zeal to offest the energy cost.

a great monk knows the area and will change his build to suit it accordingly. it is never advisable to stick with a single build since different areas require different strategies of healing/prot.

^^ Exactly. Well they don't need to be a great monk. A normal monk should have some idea what to expect and if they don't, ask the party first to know. LoD serves its purpose in many places, like the health draining area in Dragon's Lair, or Abaddon's Gate. Generally though I take WoH just because I find zones or missions with massive all-party health loss to be few and far between.

I find LoD useful in the more difficulty places such as the Tomb of Primeval Kings, and the other things.
WoH is good, but I personally prefer Glimmer of Light over it since Glimmer of Light can do last second saves.

WoH was considered a good elite before nightfall came. after nightfall you have so many better options that it just isnt worth it any more. heck, even factions gave some better elites if used correctly... GoL>WoH any time, HL>WoH with the right build(enchantments, either seed and vigorous or from a prot monk) etc while other non direct healing elites such as LoD and HB are much better than WoH as it gives the monk more versatility
but if you're asking just about WoH and LoD ignoring all the other options I'd usually say LoD

WoH is nice, yes. But ever since NF came out the number of WoH monks has been rapidly declining. Healers Boon And LoD are just better elites and work in many circumstances. Overall i would say LoD over Woh.

LoD is amazing. get a fast cast/recharge set and spam it. Its pretty much the best monk skill in the game IMO. In PvE, you face mobs, and unless you're doing DoA and can center ALL aggro on the tank, then your party will take damage and LoD can go through it.

I've used both, in nearly the same build, and have found WoH to be more effective in most areas. (See: Holy Haste Build) With the usage of Holy Haste, both are extremely fast and effective heals, but i prefer the 5e cost of WoH for spike heals (previously used Heal Other). I honestly can't figure why people say WoH is a bad skill....easily a 150hp heal for 5e and 3/4 cast time, and the potential to heal for 250hp with the same cost, it can take the place of 2 skills (vanilla heal and spike heal) with one !
