Why is this in the farming thread, may I ask, it's not about farming, it's about bot abuse.

There's always 1 non staff mod around... hehehehe :P

Maybe because the topic has moved more to being about how bots screw up farming for the human players? The topic is very farming related if you ask me...

*Sorry for off topic post, just had to clear this up

If the botters are decent enough to make a bot from scratch then they will always bypass it. But if there Macros or some graphic based thing like auto it then bypasses are worthless.

I know a few people that play in other games with bots acually he sets up his bots to repeat after 3 hrs of him farming and him at the key board so a net wont be able to tell their looking at run to run bots those are eazy to spot the ones i'm talking abot are about impossable to tell

Also gw blocking programs from running might effect how the game runs and also any1 with a quick class in VB can make new programs that they havent blocked theirs just to many ways for boters to stay alive i think they should kick the loot scaling and maybe knock u offline if u are typing the EXACT command over and over like 5-10 of the same ones. thats possable if they can look over key strokes from the severs

I think they should make Mods on GW to observe people, mute people and send ban reports.

Kinda like Runescape did?

They could add in something small like one of those little:

Type what you see in the box below ________

AB2314G(weird style so bots cant decipher them)

it may be a nuisance but it stops bots from creating 1000's of yahoo/whatever accoutns...

tuna-fish i could see it not being a nuisance if they set it up so that you only have to type that in if youve re zoned.

i agree with tuna. thats just what i was thinking. only has to be 4 characters for 256 diff combinations and would only take us a second or two to fill in. if its a flat image bots would not recognise individual characters.

Your got your bots confused there, its like saying R2D2 and C3PO are the same model.

And it would be a nice idea, but then its easier to overcome, the gold farms employ people to write the code, bypassing the encryption, and with wages in china being what they are in the rural villages (where these places set up), it's cost effective to have 3-4-5 people entering codes.

It is relatively easy to bypass this type of security check, a recognition program would be all that is needed.

A system like this already exists, it's called trusted computing and nobody that can use a pc and that is not paid by a major could ever think anything good about it. If you're good enough to write a bot and you can affrod to lose your account as soon as you're cought, go ahead, that's my 2 cents. If ppl bots, it's anet fault.

Well they could write the codes in like paint or something and make it so it shows up as just a .jpg or something (not the computer expert here)

Its basically just more work for those chinese farmers with 1000's of bots, if they had to employ more people they might get run out of business. Would also protect against people who leave their bots on all night and come back with +50k. If people had to sit at their computers and watch their bot do the work and type in the password its almost as if their doing it, might get some people off botting. Although it will never stop everyone ><
