Default What/where to farm after HM update

So where is anyone farming now after the update? I am not a pro farmer...actually I am not much of a farmer at all. I only farm to get a new set of armor, or to buy runes for a hero. I am not after FoW armor or anything like that so I don't need that much money. But the troll farm at droks stinks even worse now than before (and the mist form elly doesn't work well there in HM anyway) I would farm there get drops, go to collector and trade for the 125 gold staff then sell to merch. I don't want to spam for days to sell stuff so the nerf really hurt the casual farmer more than anything since the amount of gold and white items has decreased and that was how I made what little I made to start with. Sure gold and purples drop more in HM and that is great if you want to sell stuff all the time but I do not. So has anyone found anywhere for a casual farmer to make say 10k/hr or something?

I'm pretty sure farming is done and over with once and for all... You cant farm anymore PERIOD. It is simply not viable because most builds are nerfed, and the ones that are left are pointless now, since you get practically nothing for killing monsters/bosses alone. and yes, that goes for green farming too. Done.. FINISHED. Rejoice if u made millions before update, and go cry if you didn't.

Just kidding. Dont cry. There are many ways to make money ASIDE from farming. Think words like the "market", "economy", etc. Hint* Hint*

Farming is not dead, it is not as good, but I can still make 9-10k an hour.

I have been farming outside ice tooth cave, killing all of the minos. It takes about 20 minutes, and I make about 3-4k per run on average. (Hard mode)

I found pretty nice place in Shining Jea. Minister Cho's Estate Explorable.
Take Mo/D SoJ with Mystic Regen, they drop Serpent Axes and Sephis Axes, run takes probably around 10 and 15 minutes. Got 2-3 Gold items per run

The start of the Moddok mish. Only bandits (warriors) and one paragon. If u farm there enough u will eventually get a colossal scimitar which can be sold for almost 1 mil. And it takes much less than 1 mil minutes to get it. Its a great way to make money. But im still trying to find a build to farm corsairs in other parts besides Moddok, but I cant find a way to do it.

Hard Mode N/mo 55-105hp SS SoA/Shielding hands farms:

Charr at start of Nolani Academy (Can't kill Bloodbane, Red-Eye's Degen makes him hard)
Spiders south of Sunspear Great Hall (Insidious parasite to deal with Ibogas)
Minos outside of Ice Tooth Cave
Minister Cho's Estate (Insidious Parasite)
Moddok Crevice Beginning (Mending touch/Guardian helps a lot-Hide behind the wall so Bohseda can't interrupt)
Gates of Kryta Undead farming (Mending touch, Dismiss condition, or IP)
Defend North Kryta Titan Farming (Water borns use maelstrom)
Hydras to the east of augury rock (Fast meteors make them hard)
Sand Drakes outside of Elona's Reach (Quite a few locked chests in this area)

I didn't have a lot time to play this weekend but on Saturday we (a guildie and I) ran a two men (not SS/55) FoW farming in Hardmode, we did our "usual" route, kill enough shadows to get to the skeletons, and clear out the skeletons. They were actaully easier now with everyone attack faster and harder, we were done under our usual 30 minute average time. As a result, 3 gold drops (not include chests) and 14 shards. I highly doubt this is average since we have cleared skeletons, forge, spider cave and beach altogether before and get only 14 shards, we must've been really luckly that one run. I didn't have more time to do that run again over the weekend but will definitely return to FoW again though.

And no, farming is not dead. One could probably say that when the patch first came out on Thursday and that's when the rate of all droppings are dependent on size of group, but then Anet sent out another patch which returned green drops and rare materials back to the way they were before, in which caused the rise of Ectoplasm prices to up to 11K each on Friday and dropped back down to about 8-9K on Saturday, a guildie made a kill by selling all his Ectos for 11K, made over 500K in total. Farming is still there, even better than before.

Update - Friday April 20

Loot Changes
Adjusted the following items so that they are now exempt from loot scaling:
Skill Tomes
Scrolls
Dye
Rare materials, such as Ectoplasm
Gemstones from the Domain of Anguish
All other rare (gold) items
All unique (green) items
Special event items

I don't know where you got the idea that farming is dead...in my opinion its better than it was before. Yes there was a 24 hour scare that farming would take a dive, but after this addition to the hard mode update i can't see why everyone is still crying. Sure you dont get as many of the crap drops you would have gotten before the update (ie salvage items and white items) that kept you even on a bad run in uw and other areas. But farming in both modes is benificial in thier own way. In normal mode allot of the old AoE builds are now faster then ever, and there is no more anti-farm code. In hard mode high value drops are more common, and with the right build you can farm an area effectivly for a large profit. Since friday i've found more golds in a weekend than i've found in a week any other time.

You can sort of trap farm the Charr at Nolani, but I always get killed by the meteor showers before I can loot.

So far most farming builds for HM are 55 monk/SS. Come on people, is there profession diversity for HM farming here?

I've been farming GoK in Hard Mode with a 55 Monk. Lots of sephis axes and dead bows.

That's because hard mode monsters hit hard. There will be more builds to come, give it time.

Farmed the mino's at lunch..I admit I am not a good farmer at all, but I was there about 30 min and did one run and only got about 2.5k so at 5k/hr it will take a lot of farming to ever amount to anything...of course the bots can farm 24/7 so guess the nerf didn't do much to them except make it so anti farming code never kicks in..so actually made them better most likely and since less actual gold drops then there will be less of it to sell but that will just make the price of it go up on ebay so it actually was a great update for farming sellers...humm GJ A-Net way to think it thru and come up with the worst possible solution

Correct me if I'm wrong but if 55 can do it, maybe a buffed version of 130 dervish?

In the meantime, if any rangers want to make chump change:

The grawl outside Port Sledge can be farmed in a manner similar to that of solo UW trap farming, or in just plain ordinary farming (reccomended you use SQ to speed things up). For the non-UW build, I usually place 3 barbed, 3 flame, and 2 dust before pulling. Naturally this only works well on regular Grawl, and not Crones due to Plague Signet.

Use something like dodge or escape to pull. The drops actually aren't that bad (made about 500g just off of two grawl, a blue bow and a gold armor that had a cheapo Sup Illusion, but merchanted a few hundred). Time consuming, but if you need a small amount of money, and want to do it in HM (seeing how it takes forever even to gather up monster drops for collectors in normal mode now), yeah.

Ectos are unaffected by loot scaling. In fact, I think they're dropping better than usual since before the nerf. In my UW run (two-man) last night I scored two, and about three dropped (none for me, but they dropped) in the New UW/Tombs (in the course of only Underworld and Scarred Earth, that's pretty quick).

I haven't played GW since late 2005 when they did an older 'farm nerf' by changing the AoE effects to make monsters flee, but started again a few days ago.

Question, how do you deal with the fleeing effect? Is there a skillset that involves none of it (for a 55 monk) or am I missing something? I tried minos outside Ice Cave on hard and couldn't kill a single one because of it. Thanks.
