Default Meat shield works

Followed the previous posts' suggestions, the "meat shield" technique works great. Only 3 runs so far and 2 stygian gemstones, a couple of "good" whites (ones I've never gotten before) and merch/salvagable blues. Metric buttloads of exp and lb, too! I decked Acolyte Jin out with full trapping like myself (based on uw solo trapper - ae/echo/dust spamming) and works like a charm. I keep Dunkoro out along the ridge to rez the meat shield, Koss. Except for a stupid mistake during the 3rd wave, I think I would have cleared the quest on the third try. Thanks for the info...if anyone has other high-level, 'solo' trapping, farmable areas, please post here - I'll do the same (except for u/w real soloing, which is fun, too). Thanks!

Default Doable -- But Why Bother?

Thanks for the build. Works great. Spent yesterday and today. Took a while to get the kinks worked out ( like remembering to turn on my LB Lvl 8!). But, once that mental infarction was removed, the first two groups routinely dropped. HOWEVER, that was all that dropped.

Over the course of about 50 runs, I received a total -- TOTAL -- of 8 drops. All white; all high req... I was close enough to get the XP but nothing else. Now, maybe this is just my game 'karma' but this is alot of work for nothing. Still, I'll do this on occasion -- its fun to watch all those numbers on the screen, but to make money, I'll do desolation chest runs.

Oh, about 1/2 the runs were done solo; decided to see if taking heros made a difference, so the other half were done w/3 heros.

Again, nothing wrong with the build. Alot of fun but not much profit -- at least for me.

Same here. Several solo runs, one hero run, 2-3 drops per run, only one blue.

I did a few runs in HM last night to farm some cupcakes and LB; aside from a nice XP gain (+50% from HM and another +50% with scroll) and LB pts (8pts/monster), drops were not to bad.

Was doing the koss (meat shield) thing and started to wonder if too many heros (3 total - koss, dunk and acolyte jin for extra traps) was making a difference in drop rate. Got rid of everyone but kept Dunk on the ridge for rez purposes. The drops did not go up significantly, but they seemed to be better - go figure... A lot of white/blue not seen often (rusty machete?), but a couple of good golds, too (gloom shield, goldleaf defender and 9 stygian gemstones). In total, probably done the run about 30 times. With myself and Dunkoro just in case, I can take out the first 3 waves but notice the drops stop there, so I map out and repeat. HM doesn't seem to make a difference in drop rate/rarity imo, but the hungers become level 30+ which makes them harder to kill in 1 go... Overall, fun run for practice and a rare drop or two.

Ran a modified version of this with me as the spirit/Bipper and Acolyte Jin as the R/Me (no spirits on her bar). Normal mode is easy to trap its hard mode thats giving me problems. I've tried muddy terrain to slow them down but the HM speed buff lets them plow right through the traps. Anyone had any success in actually slowing the stygians down long enough for the traps to hit?

If I want to use this as a means to farm LB pts(could really care less about drops...just a bonus ) what do you all suggest I do..I am an ele, so maybe make ranger my secondary and set up a few heros with traps?

Outstanding build and setup, your placement of traps/spirits is also flawless. I've made the following tweaks for my own use and its still effective...

I am a necro and I use a hero hench with your identical setup R/Me. On hardmode I change Serpent's Quickness for Trappers Speed to make up for the mob speed buff. For my necro I use the following and stand in position 2 with the hero in position 1. I take the spirits from the ranger and use them on my necro along with BiP for a nice energy buff to the ranger.

Blood Magic 10
Beast Mastery 8
Wilderness Survival 12

Blood is Power
Troll Unguent
Dust Trap
Tripwire
Serpent's Quickness
Energizing Wind
Quickening Zephyr
Res Sig (just in case you need to use the ranger as bait)

The trick is to cast SQ and QZ first which if everything is done in rapid succession with the same bar management sequence you posted should kill the spirit off right around the time of the second echo casting. Why run this in the veil? First it looks cool and second its hard to beat the experience = levels = skill points or the excellent 8 point LB bounty.

GREAT guide, very nice,

Still got a question (maybe it sounds stupid):
Does this guide also work in Hard Mode,or only in Normal Mode?
~just wondering
