Stygian Solo Trapper Guide

Runes:

- Superior Expertise
- Superior Beast Mastery

- Beast Mastery: 6

Skills:
-Arcane Echo
-Echo
-Dust Trap
-Barbed Trap
-Trap Wire
-Serpent's Quickness
-Energizing Wind
-Quickening Zephyr

Template:

Guide:
Go from the gate of anguish into Stygian Veil. Go ahead and talk the Adept of whispers and accept the quest "Breaching The Stygian Veil". Also talk to the whispers informant for double XP and Lightbringer points.Then go to the north east and wait until all the stygian monsters are standing around the Adept of whispers. Now move into the center and lay down your traps. Put the traps in the following direction: 7-8-6-1-2-3-1-2-1-4-3-2-1-4-5-3-4-5-2-3-2-4 on position1 of the screen. Always keep Serpent's Quickness up after the first use. After you layed down the traps activate the spirits again, this time on postion2. You can also lay another trap wire on position3 to knock down enemies that want to follow you. The positions on the screenshot should work on the first two groups. Then pull down the groups and run away. The groups will first follow you, and the attack the spirits. While they are attacking the spirits, the traps will activate, and they will get a lot of damage and also knock down. This should kill all the groups. Now you should quickly move away, because the next will spawn and run to the Adept. With a litle practise you can trap all the first part of the quest.
*Litle hint: For the first time you can take a monk hero with you and let him stay at the start. He can "rebirth" you, if some of the monsters will kill you.



Drops:
- Stygian Gemstones
- Golden stuff (Found some Igneous Blade, Shadow Axe and Gloom Shield)
- A lot of white and blue Stuff
- NO money

awesome!! question, have you tried trappers speed instead of SQ? I just ask because its 100% coverage and with the spirits AND speed the speed boost for laying would actually come in handy I'd think.

Tried it in the beginning, but I need to activate the spirits at the end, an with trappers speed the traps activated to early. Maybe I will give it another try now. But you can also try it by your own and tell us how it works.

Meh.... i do it the exact same way. Except i use 2 trapper heros and make em bugger off before i lure.

More traps, safety net and the same drops as a solo run.

Solo builds are overrated these days

hmm, one could likely 'solo' UW (or practically anywhere for that matter) with 3-4 trappers. Of course this isn't a revelation to most... but I took a looong leave of absense from farming after the toucher soloing in Factions.

It's not because you gotta that made soloing cool, it's because you can...

In a place that doesn't involve enemies who hit for 300+, hit through blocks, steal life, use a move speed boost, refuse to stop chasing a target, cause crippling and come in large numbers... i'd agree.

Sadly Stygian Veil involves all of those. Personally i'd rather be able to get a drop than be chased down by insane Stygian Golems...

Umm can you post a little screenie of where to place the traps please because i am a noob in DOA areas and my imagination has been ruined by tv and guildwars so i cant picture what your saying thanks for the build. I use the same build for UW. Very good build

So u use Arcane Echo then u use Echo on Dust trap and then u Echo Dust trap Again for the massive amount of dmg and the energy cost of dusttrap is reduced by energizing winds and trip wire and barbed trap are the knock downers right?

thats what i got out of it... im pretty sure thats what you do because i see a lot of 18 damage or something on the video which is what dust trap is right?

ok first? where d you geta +20 energy staff i thought you only could have 15 if there is a +20 what staff is it

Any inscribable +10 energy staff, put a +5 energy staffhead on it, and get the 5^50% inscription and voila.

Maybe I should had explain it in the Guide. You take normal Staff with energy+10. Then you take a +5 energy upgrade, and a +5E^50 upgrade. Then you have a staff with E+20, because you will always have ^50 while you are trapping. For practise I think a +15E Staff should work, too.

I have been doing this the past few days with other trappers and it is amazing!
Glad to see this solo build. What is your energy and health? My energy has been 57

I use EoE instead of barbed trap since these creatures don't bleed.

Its not the bleeding you need, but the cripple from barbed trap

[skill]Barbed Trap[/skill] [skill]Tripwire[/skill]

as you can see, tripwire knocks down crippled. If you are running with others then by all means accesorize with eoe, but barbed trap is necessary.
