Default HM chests and location

This is probably a noob question, but I thought it was best placed in the farming section as it sort-of relates to farming. Does the drop quality of hard mode chests vary by how advanced the area is in 'normal' mode?

I don't mean FoW versus non-FoW, because obviously 'elite' areas like FoW or DoA will have better chests. I was wondering about chests in 'normal' locations - for example, will a hardmode chest in Sunqua Vale drop loot of lower quality than one in Waijjun Bazaar?

FoW=bad chests now.

And yes, I do find location and difficulty to affect chest drops

Hard mode chest drops are just as bollocks. I've had a ton of purples, non-max and even those shitty non-elite tomes. But as far as i know the chests all drop quality stuff. Though i have been vanquishing mainly Ascalon recently...

I've had tons of purples, but its because variety is key. You have to consistently switch up ur CR area to get maximum potential for drops.

Sunqua Vale and Wajjun Bazaar have both been giving me good drops from chests.

I couldn't disagree more. Honestly you can never really see the drop rate for a place without using at a drastic minimum 100 keys. I usually go about 300-400 per area to see how it fares, it honestly is all luck unless you scream out things like "Mashed potatoes" into guild chat before opening a chest, which usually results in a gold.

AH OF COURSE! that's what i've been missing all this time. But seriously though, i don't know what you classify as "good drops" but i suppose rarity of the skin has something to do with it? in that case it would just be more worthwhile to run chests that are near monsters that drop those kind of items.

Well. I ran about 150-200 shivie chests in ice floe this weekend, consecutivly, and the best drop I got was a req.13 gold mursaat hammer 19% while hexed.

After I switch it up with Raisu and some other places, I come back and get a req.9 gold mursaat hornbow on my first chest.

Coincidence? Maybe, but if its working why not continue?

Fact: Ratio of Grapes:Gold From chest depends on price of key
Why? Well think of istan keys, what are they 50g? they give 0 Golds. Thats just one reason, the other obvious one is that you get what you pay for

Frequency of Max Drops
Well first of Golds have Max Dmg more than grapes, and only Golds have max mods. But frequency of max drops from chests depends on the lvl of monsters that spawn around that specific chest.
Think of that like Where Magmas drop, now im not familiar with the Fire Islands Chest running, but i know that the drops, Magmas Vs mursaat vs Sephis depend on where the chest was and what mob was at it (Titans, Undead, and Jade, oh my!)

The spider run just outside Rilohn Refuge is an excellent spot to get HM chests, there are 6 spots within seconds of run distance from where you trap and SS the spiders that can spawn a chest, and there is a moderate chance of having 2 chests spawn there. My goldurple ratio from those chests is about 3:1.

Why open HM chests if your not in it for rare skinned item worth a gobload? Doesnt matter what your goldurp ratio is, go for the stuff WORTH selling, not the mods.
