Solo Farming Is Not Dead. Period.
Many claims were stated by players that because of the new fix to the drop system, solo farming is dead. This is no way the case in my opinion. I do agree that if you try to solo farm normal mode that yes, that is stupid. But there are already builds out that allow oneself to farm in hard mode and that is were the new solo farming is at. Gold item drops are three times more likely in hard mode and those don't scale to party size. Also the chests out there drop gold items so often its incredible, let alone the elite tomes. The Fact is that if you believe that solo farming has died then you are just fooling yourself out of lots of money because in my opinion solo farming is enanced now.
P.S. Why don't some of you share some of your own solo farming builds for Hard Mode here to back me up?

Because there's a farming forum here that does that?

thanks for this, I can say that while I used to do a TON of solo farming back after factions came out... I now do much less with far more happiness/minute thanks to hard mode. I've always been into solo X_______X (fill in the blank) for the challenge, not the repetition or the potential money. Also if I solo farm greens, its not to get rich, it's for equipment for other characters or heroes. Hard mode is like a dream come true for me both for solo farming and challenge, and while I've enough titles for the moment someday when I get the itch anew, hard mode provides there also. I've merely been using my old solo farm builds (55 nec/toucher/terratank...) on hard mode to play around so far, but it's far exceeded my expectations as far as loot.

Farming is very much still alive. In the past two days, I've been farming the cursed lands with my monk, and in a few hours I got at least 30 rare dead bows, 17 rare armors, 4 black dyes, and a rare sephis axe. I made around 120k in the few hours I farmed.
I agree, farming has been way enhanced.

hehe, not to nitpick, but might wanna check ur facts first. Yes, rare drops are uneffected by loot scaling, but gold drops (money) is affected greatly. Additionally, AoE scatter still exists in easy mode, it simply takes the monsters a longer amount of time to react to AoE... Update notes ftw!
OH, back on point, i agree. Farming solo is still very doable, it simply affects the merchant farmers is all. The people who are willing to try and sell their rare/green/rune drops can make some great cash off of HM. The people who relied on gold (money) drops and purples/whites/blue items for merchant selling are gonna have to totally change what they farm...
Only thing i am annoyed about is doing a UW solo run (for ecto of course), my trip often doesn't even pay for itself anymore in merchant junk and money drops. If i dont get an ecto in a run (often), then i usually come out losing cash in total, rather then before loot scaling. In the past, just from that merchent junk & money drops alone i could get 3-4k from a UW solo trip... *sigh* Another thing to look back on as the "good ol' days"...
But i digress, yes, the amount of hardmode rare items can really make soloing successful!
cheers.

OMG...
Where were all of you guys a week ago!!!
Look here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10146569
It's funny how after a week, when everything that I say will happen actually does, everyone changes there mind about solo farming...
I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here but if you were one of those people that were denying me in the post above, don't doubt my superior mind!!! lol, jk
By the way, i fully agree with Master Halbarad

So there is one group of posters on the board saying, don't tell us Hard Mode is bad because it is only meant for a certain number of people (like them) who are really good at the game.
There is another group of people saying that solo-farming is not dead because of hard-mode and people who farm in normal mode are stupid.
I am not really good at the game and I would like to make money to buy Signet of Captures to capture skills for the skill hunter title. To capture 141 skills in NF I need 141x1k = 141k gold. Add the gold needed for Factions and Prophecies and I need, well a lot of gold.
Forget the gold I need to get my Treasure Hunter and Wisdom Titles

It requires a good bit of dedication to ever get the max level of treasure hunter, don't kid yourself, it takes a good bit of time to open 10k chests. However farming gold isn't particularly difficult, just rush through each expansion and farm whatever seems to be hot at the time. Whether that be solo or in a team. Thats usually the easiest way to farm, in reality.
I'm not anything special at the game, but i'm really enjoying hard mode. Simply due to the higher chances of getting my favorite skins (dead bows, mursaat bows, mursaat hammers, sephis axes, dwarven axes...) and now I don't have to pay exhorbent prices to buy my favorite skins, I can (more or less) farm them myself.

Going off another threads subject matter. Imagine this.
ANET makes all chapters inscribable. Can you imagine what that might do to boost the rarity and prices of uninscribable perfects if they make it just "new drops only" in Tyria/Cantha? Then again, it could also tank the whole value sysytem too, lol.
Just food for thought. I myself plan to keep a few perfect uninscribables on standby just in case.

He meant when Hard Mode was implemented initially, loot scaling affected [b]all[b] drops (so in HM getting a gold in solo is probably not much greater than normal) but then Anet made changes soon after so that dyes, rares and whatnot are exempt from loot scaling
I think

Solo farming has been dead since henchmen started stealing drops.
I've cleared the area of Grenth's Footprint around Sorrow's Furnace more times than I can count. Have yet to get ONE green weapon.
Even before the so-called farming nerf, I could never get more than 10k. Only recently was I able to, using FOUR CHARACTERS, amass enough money to buy ONE PIECE of 15k armor.
Oh, and using hard mode to justify ANet's screwing farming over doesn't fit.
Not all of us have ACCESS to hard mode.

*Sn!ggers at Absolute Destiny*
I only have access in Cantha and Tyria.... not Nightfall.... but it is already amusing me farming-wise...
For practical playing purposes, Hard Mode is an absolute nightmare (that is to say I doubt I'll ever get any Guardian or Vanquisher titles).
For 55hp Farming... Hard Mode is a freakin godsend!
Afterall, as far as I'm aware, all 55hp farming relies on enemies doing damage to themselves by attacking... and they now do that a whole lot faster...
So anyway...
If you don't have access to Hard Mode... then get the hell on with completing the campaigns in Normal Mode. Factions is pleasantly easy in Normal.... even to get Protectors. Prophecies takes an annoyingly long time, but isn't too tough (especially if you have well-kitted heroes)... Nightfall is only problematic once you get to the Realm of Torment... and that can necessitate Lightbringer Point Farming.... but I'll be done with that soon and be able to farm Dead Swords and Colossal Scimitars with everyone else... ^_^
And you don't NEED 15k armour to complete a campaign.
Just complete them with 1.5k or collector armour.... start farming Hard Mode... and then use the money aquired from that to get 15k...
Priorities dude... priorities.

Ummm I hate to bring logic into this, but if your solo farming your don't need to worry about henchies stealing drops, because your doing its solo.. alone by yourself.
And if your not making money farming you just need to learn what to farm and where.

Solo = not bringing anyone else.
Henchies are computer controlled.
Like I'm going to take a W/N alone into Grenth's Footprint...

Ok.... here is what you need to do:
#1. Lion's Arch ... and from there to Kaineng Center (assuming you haven't been there already)...
#2. Fight your way through the Factions missions until Senji's Corner... Buy Ritualist as a secondary class.
#3. Dependant on your choice of Kurzick or Luxon... go either to Mourning Veil Falls or Rhea's Crater with Ritualist secondary and a Signet of Capture.... find the relevant Ritualist Boss ... kill them and take Vengeful Was Kanhei.
#4. Go through the rest of Factions to complete it.
#5. Go back to Prophecies and complete that.
#6. Go through Nightfall if you so wish.
#7. Get a bit of practice with the W/Rt VwK build... then go farm Dead Swords with it... or whatever else you can.
*Yawns*

You think it is not dead because you can currently still reap the higher prices of some rare items but at the same time you're bringing them down more and more until their worth is depleted. Your "easy 600k a week" will soon be "easy 60 k a week" and then finally "6 k a week".
You're digging your own money grave by overfarming now and ultimately kill solo farming yourself. It's not dead yet but it is seriously close to it.
