A Me/anything can probably beat a W/anything one on one, which is something of a clue.

Uh, that really depends on what you're trying to do.
A War/Mes could destroy a War/Mo in a 1v1 if set up to do so (empathy ftw). However, if you're talking about just in general, then it really depends. There is no one be-all-end-all combination (the game is designed to prevent that). How you have phrased your question (making it sound like W/Me vs. War/M in a 1v1), it still isn't easy, since either could be set up in such a way to destroy the other, it all depends on skills.
I guess what I'm saying is, it is very hard to say that any profession combo is worse/better than another if properly set up. It all comes down to personal preference and what you are trying to do.
What I'd suggest is that you try both, and see which one you like best. It really comes down to personal preference, imo.

W/Me works well for certain farming builds because of Physical resistance, but I find W/Mo is better suited for more diverse situations.

W/Me is better for farming elemental users such as Ice imps. W/Mo is better for farming enemies that do physical damage altho a stance tank can accomplish the same thing without using monk skills. In my opinion W/Me is better overall then W/Mo.

For PvP, there's not much in the Mesmer line to tempt a Warrior. There's not a whole lot of monk skills useful to a damage dealer either, though I hear Contemplation of purity W/mo's are becoming popular in GvG.
Also, you should never base a build around how effective it would be in a 1v1 situation..

So you can see how bad the situation is in RA/TA......Too often, many new players chose to be a warrior just because they assume warrior is "strong", "unbeatable", and able to outrage all other classes....
8 out of 10 times when I meet a mixed group in RA (1 or 2 Warriors + 2 or 3 casters), the warriors opt to rush to me and attack me or the other warrior(s) in my team first. They don't even think or have any "strategy". That is sad. The result is, they maybe able to kill one warrior in my team. But he/she will eventually realize that his/her whole team is dead already.
Many warriors like to challenge another warrior cuz they think that they can be "stronger" or "better", simply because they bring skills which they consider as "anti-warrior" --- Glad defense, riposte, deadly riposte, plague touch, mending, healing hands, healing breeze....all those "craps"...
I know that those skills can be effective to against warriors in a 1 on 1 situation. But I just won't do it as I know I am playing in a team match, but not a dual.
I hope there will be a 1-on-1 arena in Factions, so that all those noob warriors will see how fast a mesmer, a necromancer, an elementalist, or even a ranger kills a warrior.
Sad to see people even post a question asking which profession is better to 1 on 1 with another warrior...sigh...

if the warrior knows his weakness, he will know all, no real winner there, it depends on the wepon, the skills, and the player behind it
