MM weapons
search feature wasnt working, and i didnt see thread (that wasnt closed) on weapons in the first 3 pages... so...
I was blessed to find a good link to a site where u can modify searches for Collectors weapons in the game. like just for necros or monks, etc, and it tells the collector name, what he requires, and stats of what he gives, etc...
Anyhoo, i used to have Bortaks set and thought that was the best, but still found myself having to wait for energy recharge at the end of large battles sometimes while a corpse or two was still there. With scar pattern and bloodstained boots, i think my energy was about 51 total.
Since then, i have sold my Bortak set and gone for the cheaper (and better) collectors set, to give myself more total energy... now i use a 15/-1 energy truncheon from the collector in HoD, and a 20/20 cast/recharge on death offhand from a collector in the desert.
And i must say, at 63 total now, just the extra 11-12 energy really makes MMing better and easier. It could be boosted 15 more to get to 78 total with a 15/-1 offhand, but i'd rather have the 20/20 on death skills mods.
I was an elite MM before, toting 20-30 minions at all times, but this just gives me an extra edge, to carry same amount of minions faster (without having to wait for occasional energy recharge), which translates to more, healthier ones in the long run. yes, i lost the +1/20% death mod, but in my experience, the extra total energy has been much more efficient, for a cost about 2k (for the collectors weapons) versus 130-150k (for Bortaks set). enjoy and happy farming!

I don't use the bortak's set either. I use the 20% wand and 20/20 offhand. I get my energy with a 10 in soul reaping and Offering of Blood. Depending on what I'm doing I'll either bring a heal along (monk secondary) or rely on something like Taste of Death to keep me alive in tight situations. If I'm 5 man farming then I'll let the monk heal me.

I use the 10/10 morgriffs sceptre and collector +1 death (20%), +30 hp icon. A cheap but powerful option, and have literally never had energy problems because of my build rather than items.

bortak's cesta is really nice if you have the cash. the fast cast can help alot at stealing corpses before an enemy uses it. that said, the +1 death collectors if a fair replacement.
i have a +15 truncheon and a +27 (+12+15) cesta, but i just keep them in an alternate weapons slot and they only come out when i need that extra energy. its a waste to have them out all the time when i could have faster casting or recharging or some other bonus when energy isnt an issue. Also, loosing a pip or two of energy regen is nothing to scoff at when moving on to the next battle.

yeah, with 20% casting on death, and bloodstained boots, i've never had a problem with enemy necros stealing corpses....
if i valued it enough, i think the best combo would be like a +5^50 wand with 15-20% casting on death, and +27/-1 offhand with 15-20% recharge on death.... both items would be around 500k each to buy though, lol.... i like the recharge, especially for Veretas. i dunno about yall, but it sure seems like that 20% works like 50% of the time, lol.
oh, and yeah, i use OOB and have 11 in soul reaping (16 in death and 10 in blood), but still found myself waiting for energy recharge with a corpse or two left after enemies have died superfast in big battles, like tombs and SF. but not as much so anymore with more total energy, so i value total energy moreso than a +1 mod. i havent seen much difference in my 18 level minions and 20% of the time 19 level ones that i had with Bortaks.

I personally use the 20/20 Bone Staff with an +5 Insightful Head and a +5 Defensive Wrapping. I would like a perfect staff wrapping of Death Magic but lets face it I don't have 150k+ to blow.

I switch between
weapon set 1: +15/-1 truncheon, +15/-1 focus
weapon set 2: 20 death truncheon, 20/20 death focus
I use weapon set 2 to cast whenever I can, then switch to set 1 so that soul reaping has a higher cap.

I only get +15 energy from my staff, but never have a problem with energy because of my Soul Reaping attributes.

The 20/20 Collectors staff is the same thing if you dye it back and slap on a perfect insightful head and staff wrapping of shelter. Lots cheaper, more customizable.

20/20 collectors staff + perfect Insightful + 20% death magic (or heck pick up a 15%er for much cheaper).
minotaur horns are plentiful, the insightful mod is bout 5-10k... Only real expense is the staff wrapping of death magic.

hehe, i used to use the collectors bone staff, with a +5 energy head, and +29hp wrap, after i sold bortaks, and it did the job, but again, it gives the same amount of energy Bortaks set does (+15.. bortak is +3 on weapon and +12 offhand), and my total energy was still only about 51.

It's only "cheaper" than if you actually buy a Bortaks. I wouldn't say it's "more customizable" either if you're just going to make a Bortak's clone...
