I hate the looks of scars, so I saved to get FoW scars. Hoorah. I use those now, alond with Bloodstained Boots if I go N/R. If I go N/W though, I switch to full 15k Necrotic for the armor bonus.

I did the same thing for my necro that I did for my monk. I went with a defensive set for chest and legs (necrotic and censors) in order to have a higher AL 62.5% of the time. Then, I went with energy on the hands and feet (scar and ascetic). Obviously, if I go minion master, I use Bloodstained Boots. My monk looks great and unique without sacrificing stats, but my necro looks like a beggar at least without the bloodstained boots (but I don't care).

So if I went all Necrotic armor would I really be hurt by having less energy than with Scars? I mean, if you have enough points into Soul Reaping is energy that much of a problem? I'm new to MM, so thanks in advance for the advice.

Then you should not have gotten a run to Droks, but thats a different discussion for a different kind of thread.
Bonelace and Fanatic have armor versus piercing damage.
Tormentor (coolest looking armor by the way) and Necrotic have a disadvantage towards holy damage. But you wont encounter that much.
Unless you go to UW.

How exactly does the holy damage weakness stack? Do 4 pieces of armor really give a +20 to damage no matter where in the body you're hit?

It's already been tested that it doesn't even make a difference, at least from what I've read and experienced. I'd rather have the extra +10 armor than that anyways.
Black Tormentors FTW!

Doesn't matter the +10 armor is way more worth than the Bloodstained boots' ability anyhow. I use all Tormentors and still play MM as good as anyone else.
BTW, Tormentors is just a more expensive version of Necrotic, but if you have the gold, Black Tormentor's looks pretty sweet. That's why I like using my necro lol.

That is not true. Tormentor's and Necrotic have the exact same stats but different looks. But the 15k Tormentor's looks more like 1.5k Necrotic if that's what you meant.

boots are one of the least likely places that you'll get hit. in fact, the +10 armor is quite useless on the boots, and you'll get slapped with a +5 holy damage (global, by the way) on you.
in other words, NEVER use the tormentors (or necrotic) boots and gloves.

my point still stands: the extra armor on the gloves and boots are pointless, and not worth the risk of the extra holy damage. there might not be alot of holy damage, until you run into a group that uses it. nothing more embarrassing than dying to bane signet and banish.

Necrotic and tormentors are good for the 70 all, bonelace and fantics are also good for the 65 +15 against pericing.
The - 5 holy damage does stack, so if you are using necrotic and tormentor, you want to have a second set for when you run into anything that cast holy damage. I keep a set of bonlace for my MM build, I use the desert collector for my blood rit/tormentor build, the top, gloves and pants are easy enough to get.
There isn't a lot of creatures that cast holy damage outside of the FoW and UW but enough that you want to be prepared.
