Default How to get money after the wall's destroyed

I've been playing the game for a few days and I have a female Ranger at level 6 with Elementalist as the 2nd profession. I just did the Tydus mission where the wall gets destroyed in the cinematic scene. And now I'm in the ruined Ascalon City. So now I'm buying tanned hide squares to craft that blue looking armor and in need of gold. What is the best way to do that? Just go out and kill monsters?

If you have a lot of money to blow on materials like tanned hides then go ahead and purchase them. However, if you've only been playing for a short period of time then you likely don't have much gold. If that is the case then yes you would likely need to farm monsters. If you are in old ascalon then maybe your best bet at that point in the game is to farm the grawls that are a little ways west of the city. When you get a little higher in level then you could start farming the charr when you reach that point in the game.

Does farming mean just go around and kill monsters?

I killed enough Hulking Elemental things to get the Aura skill thing for my Elementalist 2nd profession. I bought a couple of fur armor things that have 25 armor, not knowing the guy next to him is selling armor that has 40. But I have everything but the mask, and I need rare materials from the rare material seller. This will probably take a while. My leggings and boots have armor of 25 but whatever, I'll keep them until I'm at a point where there's better armor to get. The vest is 40 in armor.

Well, there's not really a secret tip we can give you there, as the point when you're level 6 is just to do your best with what you can. I guess you're better off doing side-quests, getting xp and loot. You may not know yet about how the story evolves, but you'll have to get into cooperative missions to follow the storyline. That's quite fun.

I'll have to agree with what most of those above said. At this point of the game you're not going to have a lot of money. When I was in your position I would normally go out and kill all the monsters that I could find. I picked up ALL the loot that was dropped and either salvaged or sold them to the merchant. I would also do all the quests in my quest log which would give more experience and even more loot. It may not seem much to pick up the loot that drops from the monsters now, but in time it adds up and eventually you'll start seeing your cash grow as your progress through the game.

Hope that helps!

Yep, it does, thanks. I've been doing that and selling items like half eaten masses, whatever those are. I did this quest where I spot the Charr army and it had me and a level 19 partner run like hell back. We were running and typing like "AHHHHHHH!" and "RUN!!!" on the way. That was funny. Although, why would a level 19 ally run like that? Well I guess it's required for the cutscene that awaited

Anyways, I'm armored up and I'm gonna look for allies to get this census item from the ruins in Old Ascalon.

OMFG, get this. Okay, I did the quest already where you spot the Charr army and run. And I did it with some lvl 19 guy. Cutscenes and stuff.

Well this lvl 20 female Necro invites me to do it again. I was thinking I already did this, but okay I'll do it again. And we go and she conjures up all these monsters to follow her. I mean a lot of these things. We get through and I barely have time to shoot stuff since they get killed. So I'm picking up gold and items. And we get to the part where we're supposed to run. But her army takes on that army and so do we and we get TONS of stuff. Then we lose the quest but so what. I guess that was the point, tons of stuff. I must have mentioned to her that I needed gold and stuff. And he/she gave me a Storm Bow. Cool! I joined a guild and got a Half Moon bow, but customized it to me. Otherwise I was gonna give it to a fellow ranger I game with.

Anyways, some pretty freaky stuff. I think I wanna be a Necro for my next character.

Minion Masters rule early game

You haven't seen anything till you'll seen a Ranger wipe the whole lot out instantly with Edge of Extinction Thats priceless, really it is. I still don't understand why the edge of the world lies in the Charr base...

Btw, if you ever need Fur Squares just find Charr Hides and trade em in with the collector in Ascalon (unless they changed it...?), I made all my money just selling everything to the merchant or salvaging it and selling the materials. These people you see selling really useless items for gold hoping to get a profit on the merchant price would probably get more gold if they sold it and spent the time killing more enemies and doing the game.

Minion Masters, so that's what they're called. Next time I'm in town I'll have to call out "Looking for Minion Masters to help me on my Rastin Ritual quest" heheheh

Here's a picture of that Minion incident. I made a red arrow pointing to my cape. I could barely see myself. All those skeletal things are the Necros army. And afterwards while waiting for the run away timer to go down, she killed all her minions. Creepy stuff.

Heh yeah, you have to love Minion Masters.

Anyway, money wise, just play through the story missions and side quests. You will notice after you do the spot the char army quest you end up in Fort Ranik. Theres another co-operative mission there.
