I just farm imps+golems outside POrt sledge, its for sure not most an easy area, and requires the skill, but you get around 8-10k an hour whihc is very nice.

Unless I'm wrong, outside Port Sledge is only Grawl and Azure Shadows...and GuildWiki agrees with me...
* The western and middle part of the zone is crawling with Grawl and Grawl Crone, at level 22.
* Azure Shadows, in the east, at level 22. Like most shadows, they spawn once you enter their aggro circle.
So do you mean outside Droknars?

258 XP per kill and ~100g each drop for your little self :P

Thats an interesting build, I have tried it, but I dont see how that can take out three at a time, or even, one sololy for me.
I have with Aura, of Lich, the in comming damage was just too much to hold for a few seconds.
Even with WW, the chain of attacks will still hit enough with 75% doge.

Well seeing as there are no Ice Imps or Golems there I assume hes talking about the ones outside Ice Caves of Sorrow, and I call serious bullshit. Never ever ever ever have I even approached 6-10k an hour. I'm so tired of hearing peoples over exagerated farming exploits.
I got that run down to about a 75% success rate, that means 75% of the time I can farm the whole run without having to restart, for One thing, its a long run, no ten minutes run here folks people who say they can do it ten minutes are lying, takes ten minutes to get the first two groups of imps taken care off, barrage build works good, but it is also slow as hell. Monsters can only die so fast, and when we are talking about rangers who are all basically using the same build, and weapons, for such huge discrepancies to appear between one users experience and anothers leads me to believe some people just bullshit pure and simple.
Sorry to the OP for sidetracking your thread, and to Garum, if you ever want to prove me wrong just look me up in game(check my profile for IGN), Id love to see how you make so much cash farming the Ice imps and Ice Golems

I usually ettin farm with traps, can be a little tricky sometimes but my build goes something like this
Distract shot
Poison Arrow (usually drains them down to nothing)
Dust Trap
Flame Trap
Troll
Dryaders Defences (if you get into a tight crowd this can save you)
Storm chaser
And I usually take one spirit doesn't really matter what one.
I trap maybe two of each trap, fire a poison arrow at the ettin, they run into the traps get their hp down to half, you distract the healing signets when blind ends you use dryaders defence and keep shooting them.
This works pretty nice to get sups, havent got any Abs or Vig yet tho

I agree, I have done this run 20+ times, very fun, but it takes at least 45 mins. you will
fill your inventory and you will average 4-7k per run....really only two tough spots,
the first two groups and the group hidden around the corner on the path to the left
down on the ice, I hate that spot..bow, my sweet fiery feathered longbow of warding
+20 hexed, and a way to get a little extra cash, trade those frigid hearts to the
collector for a fire staff, and either resell the staff to merchant for 65 extra gold or
spam to sell, I have sold probably 2 dozen of these staffs for 1k.....very hit and miss
one day can't sell anything next day I sold 3 in 5 minutes...

I only do the first 4-5 groups which takes 10 minutes and gives me 1000-2000. You do the math.

if you really want to earn gold fast,
when you farm an area, you dun need to clear the whole area, but killing the biggest group in that area in shortest time and rezone.

That Ice Imp / Ice Golem solo build is interesting. I tried it today many times, but more often than not everything goes to all hell when the majority of the imps just won't stay outside spellcasting range.
I've used a fiery stormbow for maximum range, and damage dealing isn't really an issue, the trouble is getting away from the Maelstroms when I've got a slowdown spell on me. The golems are a piece of cake once those two imp groups have been taken care of.
How do you manage to control the imps? There seemed to be one sweet spot on the other end of the bridge where they seemed to be less eager to start casting, but even there my success rate wasn't very good.
The drops weren't really spectacular (tons of artifacts mainly) but the run is great for XP.

Regarding the imp build:
Is it just me or is the imp behavior somewhat spawn-related? Because now that I've been testing the build and run for two days, one thing seemed obvious: if the first group of imps stays away from your aggro circle on the first try, the other imps will act the same way. However, if the first imps rush you, you might as well rezone since the rest of the imps are going to do the same, slowing you down.
I swear this happened every single time after I realised it and started paying attention to their behavior. Was it just an incredible coincident or have others noted the same?
By the way, I have only got one gold item and very few max items, but the huge amounts of staves, wands and axes are good for salvaging.

you can kill the hell hound with the groups of sorceres and thier fiends or you can kill them seperatly...after taking out the middle portion kill the left set of skeletons with the bowmaster, then the guys on the low ground and the the other group of skeleons/bowmaster to your right...then pick up all the loot including the stuff in the low ground...stop here respawn and do it again...
if you are doing the run correctly you will get around 700g in 8 minutes or so...

Well, I tried your build and I love it. Oh you can really bring the pain to the undead. I have done all my farming with R/W and R/Mes and went R/Mo for rebirth for UW trapping. I did pick up a lot of monk skills just in case I wanted to try to make a I -Ranger. No luck with the I-Ranger though. I guess I will have to be content with my I- necro. Since this build works so good on undead, I used it to solo the Gates of Kryta mission. Got some cool drops, not uber, but about 4k -5k worth. I got a lovely non-max golden furious sephis axe. Thanks for sharing!!! It has great regen and I will probably take the basic model and tailor it for other foes. Nice.

Personally I find FoW spider runs to be the most profitable....especially with the price of shards rising recently...averaging 3-4 shards per run + a key, various gold items + materials....

To my knowledge you can't solo a spider run with a ranger. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

I'm an R/Mo, my build for solo'ing is:
1. Storm Chaser (good for energy gain against elemental damage dealers, as well as getting out of a tight spot.)
2. Dual Shot
3. Kindle Arrows
4. Poison Arrow
5. Savage Shot
6. Distracting Shot
7. Troll Unguent
8. Mend Condition if solo'ing, rebirth if in a party
I can solo the Mahgo's, Flesh Golems, and Dryders in Perdition Rock. Mend condition can be replaced with smite hex, or something similar. It isn't fast farming but it pays off. I normally make 2-3k per run, and spend 30 min or so farming before my inventory is full. Maybe not great for gold, but high exp gains help.
Imo Rangers may not be the fastest farmers but they are the most reliable, and adaptable. I'm not restricted to farming non-hex enemies or non-elemental enemies, or whatever. As 55 monks tend to run into problems with massive hex and enchantment removal. And other builds have other quirks.

Ok, there are two packs of imps at the start, one stationary
and one has a route, the moving group is a little random on
starting there circuit. Sometimes they start immediately and sometimes you have to kind of aggo them, not in aggro circle
range, in enemy detection range, which is slightly off your
radar, this makes the start tough. Part of the moving groups pattern is to come across the bridge, so they tend to come into the aggro circle more than the other group. I usually quickly aggro the stationary group and then watch the radar to
see if the others are coming, if they show up when you are still fighting the first group you better probably turn and run.
