I doubt that big time.
For one, a team at least has two to three hex removals (in 8v8, in 4v4 you should have a /Mo or /Me who has hex removal anyways) (I run 8, goddamnit...) to power through these hexes; not to say, sometimes, your opponents actually get energy by doing so. Inspired Hex ftw.
Shatter Hex ftw. Echo it and it's x3 evil. Arcane Echo that and it's even more. (Pshaw...as if you get that many hexes anyways...)

For PvE I run the following build which is quite similar to Av's
13fc 16dom
Energy Burn
Energy Surge
Arcane Echo
Shatter Hex
Empathy
Backfire
Essence Bond
Ressurect
Nothing beats the echo Shatter Hex bomb. Most of the time during PuG's (man I hate pugs-usally that is; as this scenario is a decent one with a warrior that understands aggro concepts and other players that do as well. Then again it wasn't a PuG more of a guild group that was lacking a spot so that likly explains my luck thus far) echo shatter hex+a quick esurge (for a total cast time of about 3 seconds) has dealt 320 damage before the elementalist's meteor shower hits (this was a long time ago before AoE nerfs). Of course he still gets the credit; but it is/was funny nonetheless. I know Av' hates Eburn/surge and to be honest I'm not that fond of them as well. Same line as Shatter hex (currently the most damaging aoe in the game {will ignore ss for the moment}) and it does AoE damage.
But on a simpler note...
Do not use Conjure Phantasm past Nolani!

Well, it costs 15 energy, its a hex (thus removable) and most caster's (PvP) are smart enough to work around it.
I use it as a trap for CoP. But I've only had mixed results.

Did i hear cover hex? Come on its like casting SS on a target, if you don't follow it with Parasitic Bond you need your head examined or somet because as you said, tons of hex removals.
CoP is just an extremely annoying anti-hex exception
Besides i did mention its PvE use too, stop attacking me for not been totally up-to-date with PvP.

Here is a build that I sometimes use (I almost never have the same build)
Ineptitude {E}, clumsiness, archane echo, empathy, backfire, shatter hex, cry of frustration, rebirth.
It is heavy on the energy but if you take it slow it is just fine. I sometimes swap Inept for Echo or Mantra of Recall.
As for those Ele's spam casting flare under backfire...I hate fighting against them. How lame is it for them to make the fight only last 5 seconds, same goes for frenzy warriors under empathy.

Anyone dumb enough to use Frenzy under Inep/Clum deserves to die imo *looks at AI Dwarven Soldiers*
Inep, Clum, Phantasm, Phantom Pain, Illusion of Weakness (can't always trust monks ), Power Drain, Energy Tap, Res
Works fine for me, pretty good for high level missions. Works wonders vs Cairn the uberwarrior
I used somet similar during the factions preview for the 12v12s. Was hilarious casting Imagined Burden on warriors/assassins trying to get round the back or just casting Inep and Clum on warriors and watching them run upto you and hit you regardless.

Yesterday in the Yaks Arena an ele and I dropped a warrior in 2 hits with a combo of Ineptitude and Meteor... The tank went from full health to dead on the ground after one swing and a knockdown! I was impressed.
We then got trashed because 2 members of the team "forgot" to bring rez sigs....

ahh, that's yak's arena for you...no res plus spells you shouldn't have at that point in the game and of course everyone and their dog will be wearing Drok's/FoW armor.
CONGRATULATIONS - you were ran across the the map to pick up some big spells and then worked over a warrior who (probably) fought his/her way to Yak's through the mission (and because of that did not have access to Eviscerate or Drok's armor)

Wow I am glad you can be a complete ass about this...
First off - I have 3 accounts and have beat the game on multiple characters so I don't need to work from ascalon to the islands on every single character because I have done it already!
2ndly - Droks armor is not going to help when they take the amount of damage that was dealt by the ele and I - yes it may knock it down a bit... but thats whats called getting spiked!
3rd - I ran myself to where I needed to go (I have a Droks/Sourther Shiverpeaks runner)... then I worked with henchies to cap the skills I wanted to cap... is that against the rules? NO! How many teams did I run into with at least one elite on 2 of the members of each team yesterday? -> every single one!
Welcome to PvP - you don't play fair because the other team is not going too, and if they let you "enter mission" with the skill sets and armor we use -> its not cheating.
Sorry to the rest of the readers... but don't flame me when you don't have a clue what your talking about when it comes to my game play and my characters!

My point wasn't really that you couldn't have done it all yourself. My point was this: Taking elites and Drok's/Southern shiverpeaks/FoW armor into the Yak's Arena is like going into an elementary school (assuming you are out of elementary school) and beating up on the kids there, oh yeah and kicking them in the croch with steel-toed-boots. Does it make it ok just because everyone else does it?
1. I am really happy for you that you have 3 accounts. That tells me nothing except you have too much money invested in a video game.
2. Armor does make a difference against meteor (it does not do armor ignoring damage)
3. Again, I didn't really mean that you couldn't do it yourself. Also, I will say again, Does it really matter if everyone is doing it? Does that make it cool/right/ok?
Welcome to trying to get in to a fight you can't lose (aka welcome to lame yak's arena).
My final thought on this - if you have to try and tilt the odds in your favor you are not realy playing up to your potential. It will be much more enjoyable/satisfying if you win while playing where the playing feild is even.
I'm out

No im with LouAl on that...
I did it once and going to droks, getting high level elites (in this case Signet of Judgement) then going back to low level arenas is lame beyond lame. Its even possible the warrior in question had never actually seen the 'Ineptitude' spell before and is very unlikely to stop and read it mid PvP battle.
Theres a big difference between playing fair and cheating and what i just described is cheating. Bragging about it afterwards is just low...
Surely beating teams with people using elites is more satisfying than stooping to there level?

No Joke I couldn't do it all myself - I wasn't bragging about me doing it myself!

I guess that's a way to look at it... not the case, but your POV.

LOL! Did I say I won? Did I kill everyone? Did I go in there with my little necro/mes and win 28+ times in a row? NO! I didn't win once! What did I do - I practiced pvp in an arena that my char is suited for (level, att points).. and I learned about a great Mes skill.

Wow, I come in here saying that I am amazed at a skill and a profession because of the ability to SPIKE! and I am the bad guy... because I brought an Elite into a lower level arena when I was wearing Droks.
WTF! I didn't ruin anyone's day or winning streak or life - I played 1 round, cast 1 spell, watched 1 warrior die, because for 1 round I got lucky enough to play with a caster on my team that targeted the only tank on the other team that charged a E/Me and a N/Me.
Should I say I am sorry for wanting to play PvP in an arena what I don't have to sit for an hour saying LFG because I'll get mocked for walking in the Droks team arena? Should I apologize to all of GW because I was trying out a skill that I worked to cap?
I guess me "bragging" about doing 62dmg and watching a warrior disappear is saying - wow, I now actually understand why my lvl20 Axe Maiden W/Me disappeared under 3 rows of damage indicators when I ran into a Korean Mes spike team. Yeah... 500hp gone in less than a second.
Whatever... this was never intended to be a bragging match or an argument.

Just because we understand, doesnt make you any less of an asshole for doing it, or any more wrong that everyone does. So dont sit there and talk about how you arent cheating the newbies by doing that, because you are. And just because its allowed doesnt make it right. In fact, its so not right, that you trying to justify it just makes you look like more of an asshole.
Jeez.
