Default Question regarding Skills and Spells

I am new to Guild Wars, but not new to online gaming. I want to use the following combo, but I am not sure if it will work since it has requirments. So can some verify if this is possible or not.

During PVP or PVE I use Repeating Strike, but before using Twisted Fangs is it possible to cast Way of the Lotus then use Twisted Fangs? I know that Twisted Fang has a req of "Must follow an off-hand attack". If I can not then I will substitue Way of Lotus for Way of Protection.


Repeating Strikes – Off-hand Attack
Must follow an off-hand attack. If this hits, this attack strikes for +5…+17 damage. It it misses, it takes an additional 15 secs to recharge
Energy = 5 Cast = 0 Recharge = (15)

Twisting Fangs – Dual Attack
Must follow an off-hand attack. If this hits, Twisted Fangs strikes for +3…+9 damage and struck foe suffers from Bleeding and Deep Wound for 5…17 seconds.
Energy = 10 Cast = 0 Recharge = 12

Way of the Lotus – Hex Spell
For 10…30 seconds, the next time you hit a foe with dual attack, you gain 5…13 energy
Energy = 5 Cast = 1 Recharge = 20

Yes, spells can be cast between parts of a combo without disrupting the combo as a whole. The spell Entangling Asp must follow a lead attack, but you can still use an offhand strike after you cast it.

One thing you'll have to realize is that to use Repeating Strike, you need another offhand attack, to meet the 'must follow an offhand attack' requirement. So this puts you at

lead attack
offhand attack
repeating strike
twisting fangs

Swordfisher, thanks for the reply. Yes I do have an off-hand attack before Repeating Stike.

So make it clear, I can do a Lead Attack, then a off-hand attack, Repeating Strike then Way of Lotus then Twisted Fang without disturbing the combo? So it would look like this...

Lead Attack
Off-Hand Attack
Repeating Strike
Way of Lotus
Twisted Fangs
etc...

Yes indeedy. There's a several second window you need to make your next attack in for it to count as part of the chain, but as long as you're not too slow, the spell will not disrupt your combo.

Since your saying that spells DO NOT interfer with the attack combos, do you think its possible to do the following or will there a problem?

Lead Attack
Entangling Asp (spell..follows lead attack)
Fox Fangs (off-hand.. follows lead attack)
etc...

What I am trying to do is add a poison to my combo, I have mostly all bleeds. I hear the pre-order assassin daggers is the "The Poisonous Dragon Fangs of Dagger Mastery". If so then it will be useless to me since one of the benefit of that dagger is "Lengthens Poison duration on foes by 33%". So thats why I want to try to add the Entangling Asp.

Personally, I add Entangling Asp to my builds for the ranged knockdown =) I guess you're building for PvE?

I like Entangling Asp too cuz of the knockdown. My original build had it, but just wasn't sure if I can use it between attack combos, but since you say I can, it opens my build even more.

It will be a Heavy Damage Dealer regardless if PVE or PVP. However I will have to readjust like 1-2 skills/spell for each situation and group like Rebirth/Way of the Lotus/etc... Now I pretty much got my build complete thanks to you answering my questions. I already had the Head Gear/Armor/Runes/Weapon and now skills. I will have to play and adjust my attributes since I am not to sure what the max amount is. I read on GW that its 175 plus 2 high level quests that gives 15 attrib each for a total of 200.

I know I will need to pump Dagger Mastery, then Shadow Arts and Deadly Arts. Since I am not using anything uder the Critical Strike category, I don't need to put any points into that do I? Plus do you have any suggestions what my attribute should be like, not including extras from runes or armors, just the standard attributes given.

Post your build (probably as its own thread) and we can figure out what the attributes should be. I can't just make them up off the cuff because the single most thing in setting attribs is getting good breakpoints (ie, actually getting a significant improvement when you increase points).

Even though you don't have any Critical Strike skills, I would still try to hit 7+1 (from a minor) to get 2 energy back every time you successfully crit. Energy management is very important to an assassin, and it's not that hard to spare the points.

One problem, casting way of lotus MAY interrupt your combo. Because assassin is a melee class, the one to second cost my way of lotus will give your prey a chance to escape.
