its like a defensive skill now

Hit this or Symbol of Wrath on your monk - and no melee monster will EVER attack you during the duration because of their silly scatter when hit wtih AoE damage thing..

Hopefully that exploit is fixed (not commenting about the update on AoE damage in general).

Can this be used as a set-&-forget spell ?
ie: can I use this on an ally, & then attack the foe without having to target the ally for the whole 10 second duration of this spell ?

Wrath, I think you misunderstood the context of my question.
What I want to know plz, is if I use this spell on an ally, do I then have to wait around for the duration (10 secs) of this spell with that ally targetted for the spell to complete its damage, or can I just use it on the ally, & then quickly move on to attacking a foe or healing another ally, & let aura do its work ?

Like many others, after being cast, it resolves independently of you. Unless it was cast on you, in which case you have to live for the duration of it, but that's another story.
In short, yes, it is set-and-forget.
