Default MoR vs MoC for Trappers, your views?

Ok, I unleashed quite a lively debate with my Flurry vs Frenzy vs Tiger's Fury thread, now I thought I would give all of you another chance to beat me to a pulp. I don't know about the rest of you fine, upstanding Trappers out there, but I was quite miffed when our buddies at Arena.net decided to nerf Mantra of Resolve. It takes serious points in Inspiration magic to get the energy down to a semi-respectable amount. Before the nerf you could put 8 points into Insp. and get your energy sac down to 4. Post-nerf it is 7. With no points in Insp, you're looking at 10 energy sac. I went into the Arena and in 3 hits lost 30 energy. This did not sit well with me. So, crazy me, switched to Mantra of Concentration. Costs 5 energy, lasts 82 seconds with 3 in Insp, and recharges in 20 secs. Now before all you nay-sayers out there get cranked up, let me tell you that I have yet to try this in any PvP environment. I have been helping Guildies get things finished up in PvE to get ready for Factions. However, this has worked very well for me in that setting. Sure, I get the occasional interupt, but you do with MoR as well. Just have to be a little sneakier laying your traps. Cast MoC early enough so that it is recharged durring battle. If it gets knocked off, put it right back up. Anyway, have at it!

Personally I rather use Dryders/whirling defence in PvE (I never do PvP trapping), but if you want a 100% chanche of noit getting hit I guess those 2 are needed, yet I really dont like them, the first one is too expensive, and the 2nd one too slow.

I mean if you take 4 hits, with the first one at least 2/3 will be evaded, but with the 2nd one only one, yet if you lose 20/30 energy, you wont have any energy left. And even 7 is a lot when your against warrs with flurry/tigers fury.

Hmm, no I'd still go for dryders and/or whirling, you'd have 12 or 15 into Exp. anyway.

Well as i see it...concentration is taken off when u get hit once. Mantra is always on (u can keep recasting to have it always on). IMO in PvP...who the hell is worried about that stupid guy crouching around...its mainly "GET THE MONK!" etc. People may not know it but trapping does...i think...the majority of the damage in say the IWAY build. Because ppl are to busy running from the nearly indistructable warriors and trying to kill that dammed tainted or orders necro spamming heal party...they dont even noticed that they r getting EATIN alive by conditions and re-occuring damage. All the traps on target is...bleeding, blind, on fire, crippled, and knocked down. A few points there...when crippled...its kinda hard to run meaning fresh meat for Fido the warrior. B4 i get carryed away talking about how rangers kick ass, although doing great damage, no one is really trying to get ya. So you dont need to be worried about resolve eating ur energy. Resolve is there just in case u r hit by that 1 noob u find on every team who refuses to get the called target. Concentration is ok but it is extreamly wierd how sumthing that doesn't help to much when being hit by ppl and then waiting that godammed 20 secs for a re-cast. Personally i think concentration needs a boost to a WAY lower recharge time.

"I'm very easily amused."

With that entire post you really can't play PvP much...

Now the question is what should my mesmer attack this turn.... right i've just drained the monks energy totally and waiting on recharges.... wait heres a thought, how about i attack that trapper for a bit while hes using traps? I sure as hell won't interrupt him if he has Resolve on but i can't see him appreciating 7less energy.

MoC could be quite useful for PvP, you don't get interrupted all that often. However if your recasting MoC as soon as you can your still losing a similar amount of energy it just means if you get hit twice in 1 trap your probably gonna get interrupted.

Ahh, but remember, Mantra's are affected by Exp, so it only costs 2 energy to recast at 13 Exp. I am at times torn by these tough decisions. Kind of like trying to decide what to have for dinner; chicken, beef or fish. hmmm? MoR. MoC, SQ, WD, LR? But this is kind of to debate the merits of the 2 Mesmer mantra's.
