Griffin Farming Resurrected - A new Location
EDIT : I added more for another spot 2 posts down on THIS thread, take a look, if you don't want to farm wurms too, you can use that as an alternative.
Alright ladies, all this complaining about griffin farming being gone needs to be stopped, so I went out and got you guys a new build, a new spot and a renewed sense of hope... hopefully.
This build in a hybrid, made for farming some groups of griffins as well as some wurms. Why not pick up some bleached shells while you are out there?
Lets start with the build, cause thats how I roll:
1: Sprint
2: Gladiators Defense
3: Bonetti's Defense
4: Riposte
5: Deadly Riposte
6: Dolyak Signet (or another healing spell if you don't absorb enough damage)
7: Vigerous Spirit
8: Mending
Attributes:
Healing : 8
Strenth : 2 + 1
Swordsmanship : 10 + 1
Tactics : 12 + 4
This map will get you started:
That will get you to the griffins.
You start by running out of Dunes turn left immidiately, sprint by the 4 guys there, go through the teleporter and start following the map.
That line leads through 2 groups to the final group, just drag all the griffins along with you. You shouldn't have any opposition, just stear clear of the sand elementals... You don't want to dance with those guys.
Alright once you get there and you have that warm feeling back of all of your feathered griffin friends pawing lovingly at your face, its time to do some pwning. Have mending up already of course. When you get there drop on Glads D and start swinging, at that point cast your vigerous spirit and keep swinging. You can cast the ripostes during this just watch your energy. When your Glad's D runs out drop on Bonetti's and wait until you have some adrenaline, use both ripostes, and then immidiately put on bonetti's untill glads is recharged, keep dolyak up at all times just for extra armor. I generally save the monk boss for last. He is easy to drop with the riposte defence combo.
Here you go, a big feathery pile of griffin goodness:
Alright, you can run around the desert all day looking for griffins, there are more, or you can go over and fell some wurms. They drop bleached shells, an easy 1k for 1 minutes work.
So here is a map of how to get back, and me fighting a griffin:
Basically you just run back from the griffin spot, past the teleporter, and to the outcropping of rock formations, zig zag the rocks, there is almost ALWAYS 1-3 worms in there, I find 2 most often, every once in a while 4. You can drop one in litereally under a minute, just constant ripostes and gladiators defense will put them down like gravity.
And once again, may I remind you, they are worth killing:
After the worms there, I rezone and start again, not a bad way to pull down some profit, especially when we don't have favor.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Post below, I am here for ya baby.

I'de say ty except for one thing.... This is pretty much the same exact build thats already posted for the wurm farming.... and after killing all the wurms i've always gone and killed all the griffins here... this isn't something new.... maybe to the typical griffin farming, but this is pretty much the identical build and area we've been wurm farming for months...... the only difference i can see is in ours, theres no need for sprint cuz we can kill everything we come into contact with.....
in average on these runs there are around 6 or so wurms and around 15 griffins....
Here is the real Post
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=92848
the only change i made with this build is i replaced mend conditions with purge conditions

Alright, i have found a new and better spot for farming JUST griffins, to my knowledge there isn't anything on guru showing this exact thing, so hopefully no one flames me untill I am burnt.
My build:
Sprint
Gladiators Defense
Bonetti's Defense
Cyclone Axe
Executioners strike
Vigerous Spirit
Live Vicariously
Mending
(I am using a build I made, it makes sense to use this, I am sure others do as well, I am not stealing it from anyone.)
Atts:
Healing 8
Axe 9
Tactics 16
whatever is left throw on strenth.
You start out in DESTINY'S GORGE and you leave out the East exit, to THE SCAR. Here you will take an immidiate left and head up the hill to a whole heard off griffins, spawns are different, sometimes you end up with them all bunched here, sometimes you end up with them a little spread out. It is, however, chuck full of griffins here with little other resistance, some Carrion of course... but who cares.
here is a screen that should take care of everything I would make a new well laid out thread for this, but it is not neccesary.
Thanks again for the overwhelming support here, these guys may not drop like the old griffins, but its still alot of fun and some easy money.
Have fun and always feel free to positively and constructively post and ask questions at will.

I was referring to your builds being almost identical, the farming area being identical... If you use the build in the wurm post then youll actually do better, no need for sprint.... kill everything...
and I was negative for one reason.... no need for repeats or STOLEN ideas

Stolen? My build isn't the same, I didn't even look at that to base my build and run of off. This simply is not a repeat post, it is named for griffin farmers, there are a billion out there that want something to do, they can find something new, try this.. I don't care... and I am sure your SS/SV necro build was all yours, no stealing, I bet you were the first person in the game to use it. Quit posting here. Check the first post on that build, it was "already common knowledge" then.
Thanks for all kinds of negative posts keeping my thread right on top.

my echo ss/sv build was orignal.. every echo ss has 3 common skills.... but for the other 5 My skills were something new.... this simply isn't.... no offense to u my friend...
the only difference between this build and the other post is the other build can take on anything... you need sprint for a reason.... or am i wrong there..
if you hadn't seen that other post my bad and i'm so very sorry.... but after reading it I think you'll see where i got the idea that you had.... other people also posted their versions of the build in that thread, prob where this should have gone...
Just because U titled this griffin farming... doesn't change anything.... wurms is where the moneys at... you'll find out soon that these griffins.... drop nothing in comparison to the shells you wil get from all the wurms!
These lands also have Sand Ele's and minitaurs.... so I guess I can copy and paste this thread, change 1 skill.... and call it Sand Ele farming.... either way..
its still the same as the OP in the other thread! and Im surprised that thread ended up on page 8... its very helpful....but i think u already knew that

My build
My maps
My screens
My thread
I know about both of these, I have been farming both since before I even got on guru.
I didn't steal a thing, I didn't copy and paste a thing.
Go ahead, make a sand ele farming build, show how to farm them, I don't care.
I am trying to help people. You should try that too instead of going around all night bashing peples builds and threads.
Good night.

I wasn't bashing the build persay...
more less pointing you in the direction of the thread that already covered this area and the best build for the area.... and if it wasn't for me "bashing" ur build.... then this thread would already be dead, so i guess i'll bow out and let it die!

I have to agree with Preacher here. I do not think that you stole anything. You build is very much the same however. Knowing you from your posts I am sure that this was original however there is very little true originality to be had when farming anymore. Almost every build can be linked to another one.
Guildwars owns those maps
You own the screens
Guru and the public now own this thread

Thanks a lot for this thread, but I have a single question for you. Have you gotten any decent drops?
Last night I did 10 runs on Griffons and I didn't got any decent item. Just lots of white weapons/shields and a Green Dye. Oh yeah I am talking about the ones that are located over the south part of Augury's Rock (Using north exit , hydras) There are about 12-16 griffons and they drop nothing worth of value.

I loved the Dunes run. Not many people know about it, so I had fun doing that for awhile, but the drops still arent that good. But they are good for cash.
BTW, sprint is for getting past the enchanteds
EDIT: HIGH COUNCIL BABY!!!

Thanks for the info Amsterdam. Sorry that some people jumped all over you, but there are only so many places to go to, builds to create, etc so there are bound to be people that come up with similiar/same information. I'll give this a try when I get home and see if it'll work for me

Yeah, thanks! I have used this before but never with Dolyak's. I also didn't think about going outside of Dunes, I'll try it out later. Don't let the flamer's get to you. I for one, can always use a reminder every now and then about a build I've seen/used before.

If you take out sprint and add healing breeze, reduce your sword to the bare minimum to meet the req - preferably 8 - and pump those extra points into strength for Dolyak, you can take out the Sand Giants as well. Take 3 Sand Giants at a time providing you learn the patrols patterns, realize that if you see 2 giants, the 3rd of the patrol is a Rockshot, who remains stationary, but alerts the other two no matter haw far away (nasy surprise when you are taking on 3 Giants, only to have two more come back from nowhere) and CONSTANTLY keep Healing Breeze up. Oh, and for the love of pete, do NOT use Deadly Riposte or you will eat it. Hard.

I'm still compiling some figures, but as for the build...either I'm not running it right, or just having a hard time. I found the old W/Mo Axe farmer build to be much more effective. Another thing I noticed is that sometimes the Enchanted will spawn right by the teleporter, or close enough that it makes it hard to get over to the griffins. Also have to remember to get all the griffins as there are some that are down in the lower valley. Those are the ones to be careful of so that you don't aggro the Sand Ele's. I'll post some averages after I finish my computations.
